"People hate Mondays. But did it ever occur to you that Mondays dont exist? In nature, there is no Monday - the animals and the whole of nature see just another wonderful day. Its in our heads! Yet we are full of dread. Most things we are stressed about are just things in our heads!"

Hello!

I have a ton to accomplish today.  It may or may not happen-but it is mine to complete.

1. All of the reports that I have put off.

2.  Loads of wash

3. cut off Z's uniformon  pants to make shorts- only 1 wk. left of school to go:)

4.  Sew something for fun ( I have been wanting to do this for ever!)  I got a dress form last valentines day and haven't used it except to hang clothes on that needed to be hung up.  Then over the past year I put on so much weight that it doesn't really work for me anymore-but still...

5.  Plan a solid and reliable overnight get rich quick scheme

6. pack lunches and lay out clothing for tomorrow

7.  Really continue to resist telling boss off about insurance ordeal -

Thanks for the starter Z, it reminded me how important it is to stay in the now and live one day at a time. I think, at least for me, that I hated Mondays because it was a whole week before the next weekend, etc. When I learned to live one day at a time, every Monday, Holiday, Birthday, etc. is is one day, it was a pivitol turning point for me in my program(s).

Scribbler CI

Yesterday I checked all the items on my list except one, a second watering of the grass. I was so exhausted by the time I got home, about 10 p.m., that I forgot about it and went almost straight to bed. Today is the third of a long holiday weekend and I plan to spend it with my kids doing fun stuff. A few needed items:

  • get up early, drink coffee, read paper
  • do check-ins BRIEFLY
  • do SB paperwork
  • check email for work crises
  • exercise
  • take a look at schedule for rest of week
  • have fun with kids
  • be kindly and tolerant and set a good example

That ought to do it. Once the kids are up we'll make a list of possible activities and vote on it to decide what we'll do today. Hope all are well and crossing off to-dos faster than a government inspector going over an offshore drilling rig safety checklist.

Today's a holiday here in the US, one deserving of great reflection as well as rest.  Here are my action commitments for the day.

  • 7:30 CT PA Phone Meeting  done!
  • Morning prayers (Memorial Day edition!) done!
  • Workout at gym done!
  • Grocery shopping done!
  • Start researching GCs done!
  • 11:30CT Phone CI done!
  • Make brownies
  • Continue researching GCs done!
  • Call about flights/hotels done!
  • Call C done!
  • L6 of PM done!
  • 3:30CT Phone CI done!
  • project not originally planned done!
  • Reading
  • Evening stretching
  • Evening meditation
  • Gratitude journal

Update:  Not only did I get L6 done, but I completely wrapped up another project (which was entirely self-inflicted under the assumption it would be fun and useful, and turned out not to be much of either) that I was just going to abandon.  Instead of doing it perfectly I did it well enough, and finished it in a tiny fraction of the time that I had anticipated spending.  So I neither abandoned it, cared much about it, or spent much time on it.  And I even managed to get a little bit of value out of it.

Detachment from outcome is working really well for me today.  Very grateful for everyone's support.

Journey 9 am & updates!

Today is a holiday here in the U.S., and I'm having family over for dinner.  It's back to the salt mines tomorrow so I want to make this a fun day, with time for relaxing with family, but also get some stuff done.

  • pick up last minute items at store
  • marinate ribs
  • bake beans
  • change sheets
  • Clean guest bathroom
  • Prepare for work/gym tomorrow
  • Change cat litter
  • Straighten living room and dining room
  • Make tea and salad ahead of time
  • make potato casserole
  • Bake the ribs started
  • At 6 - finish ribs on grill, boil corn, and heat rolls
  • Dishes
  • Relax and get to bed early

Did all but one item!  Not too shabby.

Zytex check-in 11.00 BST

Had a very busy but productive weekend. But changed my plans to make things more restful for myself. As often happens, I over plan, over commit, set too many expectations, exhaust myself, fail to keep up, then beat myself up for failing. So I see it as a good thing that I reduced my plans and had more time with loved ones and more rest. The things I put off can be done another time. I guess that sometimes its good to put things off.

Today is a typical busy monday - travel back to work and get things going again.

0600 arise - tai chi, shower, feed cat, exercise dogs

0700 breakfast for my darlings in bed, pack the car, pack up the laptop etc

0730 depart for Dublin (new tolled highway section opened - yay!)

0930 arrive in Dublin, park car, walk in park

1000 breakfast meeting with the team - catch up on how weekends were

1100 check-in to PA and update my daily planner

AM: further progress on the CR Documents :(

AM: online banking (dread), call financial advisor (dread)Laughing

AM: PIVOT analysis of budget and man-hours numbers

LUNCH: healthy food and long walk by the sea

PM: TI Project documents - review progress - motivate team

1600: leadership meeting

Evening: meet business contact (possible new venture?)

Other Items: Plan my social meet-ups for the week. Plan trip to UK next week. Arrange meet-up with financial advisor (dreading that)

Respect

Paul

re: time for rest

You've made a great discovery!   Planning (and taking) time to rest and relax is an important part of becoming a more productive person.   It seems counter-productive at first, but it's critical.
