huma with a Rescue Plan

Ok, well this is what our problem is all about right? Great intentions, and then we see our day disintegrate through procrastination. I'm having one of those days. Got one major thing done by 10pm and nothing else. Yell On the "plus(?)" side, I took a 2 hour nap so I can stay up later. Need to be in bed by 3am.

So here's the Rescue Plan:

1030:  send emails

11: 1 hr office cleanup

1215: 1 hr office cleanup

130: 1 hr office cleanup

Rescue Plan

Great job for developing a rescue plan. It may not have gone the way you wanted it to go today but you did not give up. In time you will develop routines that will work for you. Just keep going and do not give up.

12 mid update

Ok got the emails out but it took a lot longer than expected. That's ok...now on to the next item. Smile

1am update

I did NOTHING last hour.  I got sidetracked and web surfed again, and listened to music. Having a rough day. Frown

Ok, still determined to make progress. Going to clean my office up. Saying a little prayer.

2 am update

Done a bit of work, maybe 30 min out of an hour. Slow going. Just having a real struggle. But the good part is I'm not giving up.

More office cleanup...

3am update

Did a little more work, combined with the web surfing distraction again. My gosh, I wish I could control this problem.

Still trying -- staying up one more hour. If I can put up a solid hour, this would have been an acceptable (albeit way too long) day.  Gotta do it though.

*Hugs* Watching somebody

*Hugs* Watching somebody struggle like this and still hang in there is really inspiring. Well done!

I hope you don't have to be up early in the morning...!

4am final

Well, it was ugly, but I stumbled through. I got a good solid hour's worth of work in from 3-4am. So I'm happy, but my gosh I have to stop putting myself through this.

WELL DONE!!!!! Yes, I

WELL DONE!!!!!

Yes, I can see why that's not something you want to do every night (!) but still - it takes a LOT of guts to keep slogging through in the face of massive resistance and exhaustion, and you've just done that - I'm really proud of you :)

agree, agree, agree

Standing ovation! Bravo! Suoerb! Excellent! Encore!Smile

Lucky saying goodnight!

Well... I'm going to bed at 2am instead of midnight, but I finished everything! Not just everything on the room, but everything on my normal tasklist as well!

The last item was what took the time... around a quarter to midnight I'd got everything done but this one item. What was it?

Making a Mother's Day present.

For my housemate.

From the dog.

Somehow I was expecting that to take half an hour... :D it took two hours.. but she will now have a lovely bouquet of paper chihuahua-flowers waiting when she comes home from her weekend away... :D

all once again for this amazing weekend, and

on all your achievements... wow, we are SO much stronger together.

I love you all

HERE'S WHERE I AM!

Apart from the final clearing-up, I am DONE DONE DONE! Took me till 9 rather than 8.30 to finish, but I was so close by 8.30 there was no way I was going to stop.

Shred paper for rat cageSmile
Clean rat cageSmile
HooverSmile
Clean windowsill and inside drawers Smile
Bed Smile
Sort stuff downstairs - books/papers in living room, objects in dining room, clothes in kitchenSmile
Get stuff out of cupboard and wardrobe and sort likewiseSmile
Books/papers - divide into 'keep out', 'throw away', 'cupboard', and 'attic'Smile
Clothes - dittoSmile
Objects - dittoSmile
Fix bed again because it went again from all the standing on itSmile
Hoover downstairs
Hoover bedroom AGAIN because the carpet got messy again
Attic stuff to attic
Bin rubbish

I have a bedroom. Thank God, I have a bedroom!

YAY and Super Job.

Sorry I was not here to help you celebrate when you got done. Family Time, it was great and I really did need it. hope-faith

AWWWWW! Wow, that's the most

Lucky progress check 4 14.3.10

Books are now DONE, after a lot of fuss about exactly how to arrange them :) I'm taking a quick dinner break, then back to it...

Shred paper for rat cageSmile
Clean rat cageSmile
HooverSmile
Clean windowsill and inside drawers Smile
Bed Smile
Sort stuff downstairs - books/papers in living room, objects in dining room, clothes in kitchenSmile
Get stuff out of cupboard and wardrobe and sort likewiseSmile
Books/papers - divide into 'keep out', 'throw away', 'cupboard', and 'attic'Smile
Clothes - ditto - 1h
Objects - ditto - 1h
Attic stuff to attic - 30m
Bin rubbish - 5m
Fix bed again because it went again from all the standing on it - 10m
Hoover downstairs - 15m

Judging by how long the books took, this might well be more than 3 hours' work. On the upside, I found a card while tidying, which will save me going to the shops to buy one, so I'll be surprised if my non-room-tidy tasks take me as much as 3 hours.

So I'm giving myself till 8.30 to work on clothes and objects, and then any bags/boxes that haven't been dealt with are going in cupboards to deal with another day. Which I think is fine.

I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO FINISH THIIIIIIS :) :) :) :)

Clothes - ditto - 1h

And here's my excited babble in the chatbox:

Lucky bed is done and it looks WONDERFUL
Lucky
first time in months I've made my bed, or slept on a mattress that wasn't SLOPING
Lucky
something had gone wrong with the slats and I hadn't been able to get to it to fix it because of the mess
Lucky
lunch now!

Lucky's ROCKIN' on Sunday!

It's not fair, you get to accomplish things 5-6 hours before the rest of us every day! Tongue out

Looks like you're off to a good start!

We have something in common -- I've been sleeping on a couch for months, because my bed was piled up with boxes and bags of files and papers. Last night I cleaned it all up, and my bed looks fantastic! Doesn't it feel nice to see a made-up bed? :)

and, ummmm, GO RATS! Surprised

Super WOW

Congrats on getting your bed cleaned up last night.

hope-faith

AWESOME, huma! I'm

AWESOME, huma!

I'm really,  REALLY happy to hear this :)

(Oh, and yes, I get to achieve things before you're up, but then I have to knock off for the night while you still have another 5-6 hours to do things in! :) )

WOW Lucky

Keep Going

hope-faith

Thanks Hope!!

Thanks Hope!! Smile

Lucky progress check 2 14.3.10

Sweeping and hoovering the carpet took well over AN HOUR! You know how a floor gets when a room's been messy for a year or more - then add a load of rat bedding to that... It still doesn't look perfect, but in view of how much I've got to do today, it'll do :)

More detailed plan for the rest of the day below, with time estimates:

Shred paper for rat cageSmile
Clean rat cageSmile
HooverSmile
Clean windowsill and inside drawers - 20m
Bed - 20m
Sort stuff downstairs - books/papers in living room, objects in dining room, clothes in kitchen - 30m
Get stuff out of storage and wardrobe and sort likewise - 1h
Books/papers - divide into 'keep out', 'throw away', 'cupboard', and 'attic' - 1h
Clothes - ditto - 1h
Objects - ditto - 1h
Attic stuff to attic - 30m
Bin rubbish - 5m
Hoover downstairs - 15m

That's 6 hours of work and it's 1pm now, so allowing for breaks and things taking longer than expected, I actually have a decent chance of finishing by 8. And I don't think the world will end if it takes me till 9 :)

Phew, feel better for having made this plan!

Lucky progress check 1 14.3.10

I DID THE RAT CAGE!

Shred paper for rat cageSmile
Clean rat cageSmile
Hoover
Clean windowsill and inside drawers
Bed
Get stuff out of storage and deal with it
Deal with everything downstairs

I'm so happy about this - my rats have been living in squalor along with me, and rat guilt is my WORST kind of procrastination guilt - because they depend on me absolutely and there's no way I can explain to them. Watching them running around happily exploring their new home and vast piles of new bedding is SO wonderful.

Now to attack the room with a dustpan and brush, and then I'm going to spoil my rats' 'woo hoo' moment by bringing in that noisy hoover... :)

Happy Rats

Lucky Sunday morning

I'm up, done prayer time and breakfast and off to start on the room project! I forgot a stage when I was making my list yesterday - see if I can get the weirdly sloped mattress I've been sleeping on for MONTHS to lie flat, and make the bed. So..

Shred paper for rat cage
Clean rat cage
Hoover
Clean windowsill and inside drawers
Bed
Get stuff out of storage and deal with it
Deal with everything downstairs

First step is to find the newspapers I excavated from my room yesterday - off I go!

Wishing everyone a stunningly awesome day!

Getting rid of stuff

Hi. If you want to get rid of stuff you could try googling Freecycle. This is where you advertise your stuff and local people come round and pick it up for you. Saves on removal costs and recycles stuff.

Thanks Helen!

Thanks Helen!

Here's why this site is great

I expected to have a great day. It has not been so far. Before I found PA, I probably would be completely defeated in this situation.

It's 7pm and I still have a ton to do. But I have strength thanks to the posting and encouragement of my new friends here at PA. I'm not giving up. I'm trying to forge ahead and experience the same joy you others are today, by accomplishing most of what is on my list.

You're all many miles away from me, but I feel as if you are in my room giving me a hug and a "you can do it". Thank you so much. Kiss (I'm a guy - my eyelashes are NOT that long! just so you know...)

I promise to help you all when I can. Smile

Spectacalicious night!!!

As I said in my March Challenge thread, I had a SUPER-productive night! Thank you to my friends for cheering me on! You rock! Cool

Let's keep it rolling on Sunday! Together, we can do great things!

This comment and the one

This comment and the one before it give me SO much joy - thank you!

And just so you know, you make us feel the same way... :)

Huma you are doing good

Keep going you can do this, even when you feel like you are not your really are. In a year you will look back and will not belive how much you have changed. It will come. Just the fact that you are comming back every day is victory.  Your daily star rating and post to Lucky about working together this weekend is what inspired me to create this post for the weekend so a super big goes out to you.

Remember we are in this together. We will face challanges and road blocks, fall of the wagon get back on try again but it will work.

hope-faith

Lucky off to bed...

I've completed my tasklist for today! Finished at 11.15 -I did say I was going to stay up until 12 and do something fun after all that, but I am SHATTERED so my definition of fun is going to be reading in bed!

- to all of you, and to my awesome HP, who I'm sure won't mind being thanked with wagging dog art...:D

Lucky in need...

Lucky in need work in that area as well. I just do not know how to put aside work, task etc and have fun. I am so wrapped up in getting over my procrastination I do not know how to have fun. But I did have fun working on this post today. As Huma said we are miles apart yet we are not.

Great working with you today and hope to see you tomorrow.

So until tomorrow

hope-faith

(((Hope)))  Looking at

(((Hope)))

Looking at this thread today, it seems to me you have a gift for making work fun. Smile Maybe that's what you need to focus on for now, and having fun in non-work-related ways will come.

Lucky DID IT!

I've cleared out my bedroom and the last load of laundry is in the wash! Finished at 5.45, over 2 hours earlier than planned :) I CANNOT BELIEVE I JUST DID THAT, PEOPLE. Much, MUCH gratitude to my HP and to all of you -

The font is actually quite appropriate, as I spent the whole 5+ hours listening to my 'Cheerful Disney Work Songs' playlist - my poor rats!!

I cannot believe how much stuff I have. Getting it back into my room in a coherent order tomorrow is going to be epic. The stuff in storage in the cupboards is going to have to come out whether I like it or not, just to make room. This will take planning!

I've done tomorrow's tasklist and reckon I have about the same amount of non-room-tidying tasks tomorrow as I did today (minus the writing).  So I'm going to allow 1h in the morning for check-in/praying/breakfast, and 4h in the evening for non-tidying tasks.

On Monday I need to be at work an hour early, so up by 6, so in bed at 11 on Sunday night.

So if I get up at 8 tomorrow I have from 9am to 7pm (with breaks!) to work on my room. That's 10 hours, which should be plenty.

So the room-tidy plan for tomorrow looks something like this:

Shred paper for rat cage - 20m
Clean rat cage - 40m
Hoover - given the state of it 30m
Clean windowsill and inside drawers - 30m
Get stuff out of storage and deal with it - 2h
Deal with everything downstairs - 6h

Those are really rough time estimates and I will need breaks, but it's that sort of thing. And it doesn't have to be perfect!

One thing I am wishing is that I'd grouped the different types of stuff when I brought them downstairs - I've just got them in a mishmash. I might sort them before taking them back up. I should also remember that I have attic space!

Anyway, that was a very planning-heavy post but the long and the short of it is:

Well done

I am jumping up and down Cheering you from the sidelines.

Aw, thank you!!

Aw, thank you!!

YAY for more progress

Great job Lucky you did it and with time to spare. Make sure you spend some of the extra time on yourself because you deserve it.

Oh Hope, thank you! I love

Oh Hope, thank you! I love stars :)

I'm going to get my tasklist done, teeth brushed etc. and then spend all the time between then and midnight just chilling :)
