Because my threadstarters have been a bit puppy-heavy lately...

hope4meandu check-in (3:46PM) YAY IT'S CAT DAY!!!

Hey Guys,

The saying goes, "be careful what you pray for." I have been praying for my bosses business to grow, and I have been non-stop all day!! So I've missed you all and missed checking in until now.

So, I'm on a meeting and I want to start accomplishing at home, so where I will start is in the stairs to our flat. Sweep the stairs and clean the walls.

Then I want to move on to the rooms in the back. Right now will call p.t. place and see if they got my script yet. Nope and Dr. left for today.

Anyway folks, have a great "take one step at a time," day!!

I've given myself way more than I have time for this evening and am going to cross some stuff off deliberately rather than just wait for inevitable failure. Other than that, good day!

PE 1:30- Lucky-great threadstarters!

Hi All,

I am just in from the dentist and I really did a number on myself this time.  2 abscess (spl?) w/ severe infection.  Need to go to a specialist.  Feeling bad, I had to miss volunteering at son's school to go to dentist:(

Let this be a lesson to myself-no more putting off health concerns.

Today!!!

Work 1. J.P. report   2.  B.B. report   3.  G.Z. report  4. R.M. report  4. J.B. report

Self  exercise  BRUSH REALLY WELL

Z  Read,           practice violin     homework        play

Thank you, again, from PE

Hello!

Thank you so much-again!  It is nice to know people who understand and who are so caring!  Helen I will start with your suggestions tonight!

Good night all

PE

Mouth health

I'm sorry you are having health problems. It is a nasty procrastinators issue.

I too haven't always brushed as well as I should in the past. I have now got a method which is starting to work for me. This is to clean my  mouth in quarters.  I clean the outside of my teeth front to far back, the tops and then the inside. As I do it I slowly count to 30 (seconds). The idea is that I clean each quarter and so end up brushing my teeth for 2 minutes, the recommended amount of time.I floss too. I chew gum after meals  if I am out and can't brush.

My mouth health started to improve within a week of doing this every day. I have promised myself a cosmetic procedure to improve my smile if I can clean my teeth properly like this at least once a day, if not twice. If I fail to do it, I start to count days again from scratch. When I have 90 consecutive days under my belt I will treat myself to that expensive procedure. . I think about that if I start to say "Oh, I'm too tired", "I'll do it tomorrow", or "I'll do it but not properly".

Oh no, poor you! Well done

Oh no, poor you! Well done for getting a lesson out of it though. Hope the specialist can fix you up soon!

Wishing you well

Wishing you well. It sounds nasty and hoping it can be fixed quickly.

will make to-do list then check back, inviting HP into workday.

Have list with ten items. Have meeting at noon and appointment at 5:30.

three items done.

kromer 9:20 CI

Today is a busy day, but I have relatively defined tasks, so it should be reasonably doable to stay on task. I need to work, but I also want to catch up on some chores that I didn't get done this weekend b/c I was working

Scheduled: Class 3-4

MITs:
*Cell imaging expts (have collected data for this and cleaned up, but I don't think I'll get a chance to analyze data today)
*Make schedule for week
*A bit more work prepping for review session
*Budgeting
*Cooking for the week + dishes
*Email GSEA set
*Exam revisions, email off answer key, split up grading
*Process relevant datasets(did a little work on this, but didn't get it done)

Other tasks:
*Basic bike maintenance
*Post GSEA results
*Clean off bench/label tubes etc.
*Call AG

OK, right now I'm going to finish prep for review session and email GSEA set, make a schedule for the week then I'll work on exam revisions etc. until 11. At 11 I need to start cell imaging. It'll probably take me until 3 to finish that, then I'll go teach, then process datasets and do more teaching work, then go home aroudn 6-7 to have dinner and do chores.

kromer CO next morning

Didn't make it through my task list, unfortunately. My focus was decent (I was never obviously off task), but I was dawdling and kind of a perfectionist. Also I took 2 hrs on the phone w/ AG, which I don't think was the best decision.

Oh well, will try to do better tomorrow.

Journey 8:30 Kitties! & thanks PE for the dentist reminder

Just realized I didn't really check in all weekend!  I had a pretty good weekend though, the kids have the flu so I didn't have them over and had a more restful weekend than usual.   I also wrote and practiced my Toastmasters speech for today yay!  I'm so nervous I don't really expect to get much done this morning before the speech at noon.

Jo

Update 2 pm:  The speech is done.   I gave myself an hour after the meeting to recover, but now it's back to work time.  First thing I'm going to do is call the regular dentist and make an appointment.   It's already March and I haven't taken care of any of my health appointments this year.  I have so many doctor, dentist, peridontist, vet, dermatologist, digestive dr. appts it's ridiculous.   I'm just glad I have health insurance and and that I'm reasonably healthy, but geez the older you get the more doctors you have.  It's my intention to take care of one health thing a month.

UPDATE 2:06 dentist appointment made.   whew.   I hate calling to make appointments.

UPDATE 4 pm I'm feeling very tired after the speech and not making much progress on my work this afternoon.  I took a break to tidy my messy desk which was still cluttered with speech notes and handouts.  Now I'm going to try again to work on Project V for an hour, then I'm going to call it a day and head home!

Rexroth Check In

I faded out yesterday and did not post on progress. So following the advice of numerous fellowships I shall try to live today rather than yesterday. It is a beautiful sunlit morning in London. I am warm and grateful that I have the freedom to get on with my life.

Done:
Up and checked emails
Worked on hospital complaint etc

Todo:
Finish hospital letter. It nearly is
Go out to post office to post it
Write notes for 6.00pm coaching telephone call
Finish filling in Identity Card application form
Wash up
Write needs and wants
Write journal

and then post again...

Regards Rexroth

Rexroth Update

It is nearly 3 in the afternoon and I have finished the above. I'm now having a cup of tea and a rest having been at it like a bull at a gate until now. I've also been to the bank for some money and bought some food and walked down to the shops.

I don't think I was procrastination on the hospital letter - I simply could not think clearly about what to write and when I forced myself I made mistakes.

Todo:
Next appointment is at 6.00 for coaching
Have a rest and reflection
Cook food for supper and the freezer
Whatever else

Regards Rexroth

Rexroth Update

Done:
Coaching
Cooked supper and some to spare
Put rubbish out

Todo:
Make a few notes on coaching and think about session
Finish washing up supper things
Read about exercise on web
Take it easy

Regards Rexroth

Helen's Check_in

I have woken up grumpy because I have not had a great night's sleep and I am tired.

I would like to goof off for the whole day but I can't because I have an interview for a volunteer position later and I have already cancelled on her twice at short notice. One could not be helped as I was ill but the other was really because I was too stressed to face it.

However it isn't the same as a interview for a job so if she doesn't want me in her organisation someone else will. I will go but I need to recognise that new people are fairly high stress for me as I am tend to isolate.

This morning I am going to go the washing up. I need to wash up every pot and pan and knife, fork, spoon, and  plate I own. I am fed up with ignoring it. It is disgusting to live like this. Messy, grubby and grimy and undecorated here are pretty constant in my home but even I draw the line at smelly. I could throw it all in the bath with bleach but then I will still have to do it or I will be smelly instead :(. I am so embarrassed to admit this. I can't invite anyone over, they would think I was a mental case. Perhaps I am !

I look at the chaos here and despair. It is like the Task of Sisyphus. I am always pushing the rock up the hill, just getting to the top and it rolls back down again. Entropy, bah!

I have tried the FlyLady method, www.FlyLady.net and the baby steps were good but I found it difficult to stick to the system. Perhaps I will try again from the top. Right! Today I WILL do the washing up and shine the sink. Even if I don't manage all the washing up I WILL shine the sink. I don't have much willpower but I am certain I have enough to do that one thing.

I will do it in 15 minute chunks followed by 15 minute breaks and then 15 minutes of pleasurable activity such as reading or dancing. I  estimate that I will get the whole task done by midday at that rate. Then I shall spend an hour getting ready for the interview and going to do it.

On my return I shall write to the facilitator of yesterday's workshop on Inner Power giving him some positive feedback. The workshop was great and he is really attractive as well as talented and  so that is motivation enough ;).

Then I will goof off and watch a DVD, sleep, surf the Internet, whatever I feel like doing. That will be my reward for not blowing this interview. The position will help me get a real job later so it is a big deal.

((Helen)) < this means a hug, by the way...

Oh, and no need to be embarrassed about admitting your chaos/skanky washing up problems... there are MANY of us in that same boat! :)

good luck helen

way to go making yourself go to the interview.

i relate to a lot of your post. anxiety of new people. drawing the line at smelly. sadly, that's our house often. And i know that you and i are not the only ones on this site with that problem.

in fact flylady has that CHAOS thingy: Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. I think that's really funny (and sadly true :( )

and i have always found that the "sticking to it" part is the most hardest part for me for any of these get-better plans.

Good luck with everything!

Helen Checkout

Well I am back from the interview, which I aced !!!!! :) The woman was delighted to take me on and is paying for the obligatory police check. A current check can be really useful for getting paid work too. There is plenty of flexibility so I can hopefully get paid work and fit in the volunteering around it. This may end up opening some doors for me and I am excited by the challenges inherent in the work. I slept for the rest of the afternoon when I got back. Tired after the adrenalin rush. The washing up is in the bath now so technically I have sorted out smelly sort term and I expect I will tackle it tomorrow. I won't be so stressed then as I can stay in all day and not deal with anybody.

gratz helen!

re: Lucky CI

I am filled with curiosity! Does your dog have a grubby face or is a 'dog face wash' a new kinda beauty treatment ? Laughing

She has watery eyes...

:D She has watery eyes... it's a breed thing.

Of course, she also gives me the 'dog face wash beauty treatment' every time I walk in the door... :)

Face wash

I have a cat with a raspy tounge. Occasionally I get the face wash treatment...so good to be loved by a creature with a tounge. ;)

eww yuck
