Monday, 4th January 2010
I'll admit to sort of liking Monday mornings.
However much I screw up on a Sunday, on a Monday I feel like I can put it all behind me and make a fresh start. That was last week - this is a BRAND NEW week!

First official check!
Hi everyone!
Happy Monday and Happy New Year!
Been a wonderful day so far! Have been VERY avoidant to doing a report that I'm already late with. Ugh!
Going to do 15 minutes of work on it to start. That's enough for me to think about for now
re: first check

Good morning everyone.
A new day. A new week. A new month. A New Year. Happy New Year, everyone.
Just checking in to say I'm here, I'm going to stay focused on work just for today, and I'm going to limit my non-work activities on the computer to the end of the day when I can do them on my laptop elsewhere.
Several things to catch up on. Task No. 1, which I've done already, was to advance my Outlook calendar to the last two weeks of December 2010 and block off the time from work entirely. I never get any work done during this period. So it's long past time I remind myself of that... :-)
More later...

Addendum: So, I'm going through my morning, starting on my tasks, and I'm starting to think - I said I was going to get all of this done by 10:30 this a.m.? What, was I kidding? It's just not doable. So...I'll get done what I can, and then rearrange my list after my next check-in. That'll work for today.

I think a lot of us can
I think a lot of us can identify with those 'I said I was going to get WHAT done by WHEN?' moments :)
I love your expressive variety of smileys - and I'm very happy to see so many of them on your list! You're doing great!!
Journey 9:30 & update
First work day of the New Year! Let's do this thang, y'all. Arrrrr.
I've been to the gym and I WOULD have been early to work except for one random bit of icy road that SHUT DOWN THE FREEWAY. Yes indeed.
I have a lot of email to catch up on, but I don't want to get bogged down in it, so I'm going to spend 30 minutes on email, then make todo list and then check back here.
I have one huge administrative task that must be done today, so that will probably take me to lunchtime or beyond. The todo list is a week old so I expect it will take me a few extra minutes to get it organized again.
UPDATE 2 pm well I did kinda get bogged down in email lol, and had toastmasters at lunch and a 1 pm meeting so NOW I'm doing the big admin task. I don't wanna do it. Checking in here for inspiration, ok, here goes. I'll open up the file and read the email to clarify what needs to be done, then I can find some music to listen to while I work on the file. OK, that doesn't sound so bad, does it?
UPDATE 2:45 Some info that I needed to do the admin task was missing due to the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2009 so I had to ask for help . . . you all know how much I hate asking for help but I'm learning to do it . . . anyway, now I have everythign I need, and I have my podcast to listen to. Now, bio break, then complete one section of the report. That's doable. Herewego.
UPDATE 3:20 3 Sections done. 5 to go. Taking a break!
Update 5 pm: I'm done!!

Today I'm back at work for the first time in a week and a half.
I'm going to take it a little easy today (work until 6:10, then leave for dinner, square dance, and present-wrapping); do relatively time-limited and simple tasks)
OK, I have a number of quick but important tasks:
*Get RAR data from LO (I know where this is now, but I need to figure out what format it's in)
*
join BASS*
read paper for JC*
email about RAR and tubule data*
Incident report*
Return library book
*Thaw cells (will do this soon)Then, I have some slightly longer tasks
*
Go to JC*
Read about microscopy 1 hr*
Tag VAD mice*Get list of mitotic and meiotic cohesins (don't think I'll get to this, but I'd at least like to microburst it.)
*
Finish dealing w/ WI emails from november
If I have extra time:
*Start IHC (working on this now)
*Read about microscopy 2nd hr (have done about 30 min of this)
*Work 30 min on organizing computer files
OK, right now I'm going to read the paper for JC.
Lucky pockets inside-out!
Run out of money - please pray for me! I need to borrow some, hopefully from a friend but if not I'll try to get a payday loan - please pray for the friend I've asked to say yes, because a payday loan would get very expensive very fast. Thank you!
prayers sent Lucky!
