Introduction
Hi - I just joined today, and am looking forward to participating in the group. As I look at my goals for 2010, I realize that the breaking the procrastination habit is the #1 action I must take to meet all my goals. Amazed that someone else recognized that action preceeds motivation. Only thing that works for; exercising is the prime example. Happy New Year - Snazzybabs

Welcome s! Yes, you can mark stuff off later (or put a smiley face by it when it's done!) It's really encouraging to see items getting marked off people's lists all through the day.
Also, try popping into the chatbox if you need some immediate support/encouragement/company. I've only started using chat properly since Christmas and it is AWESOME.
I'm afraid of paper too... I think there are a LOT of us in that same boat! Good luck :)

Journey 10:30 yay puppy and kitty! & update
good morning everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR, since I wasn't here yesterday.
I haven't been around much this week because I've been on vacation. I did get a few things done around the house. I bought curtains with my christmas money from DH and Mom and spent a few days hemming, hanging and making tie backs. Well, I'm still working on the tie backs. I spent a lot of time with my mom and other family.
I also did some pile busting. "The pile" is much more manageable these days but there is still a couple of inches of stuff in there . .. the difficult stuff that I don't know exactly what to do with. So I've been making a little progress on filing or tossing, and I'll work on it for another hour today. I'd like to say the pile will be gone by the end of the weekend, but for now I'll just commit to devoting an hour to it. Next will be cleaning out my file drawer and file cabinet which have 20+ years of accumulation. I'm sure most of that stuff can be tossed, and then it will be easier to file stuff. but that is a project for another day!
The cable guy is coming today to hook up the DVR yay! I'm excited. Before he is supposed to show up, I am going to color my hair. I'll check back when the hair is colored and I'm ready for the dude to show up. Then it will be time to take stuff out of the freezer for dinner, and do some laundry and stuff. Later!
UPDATE 11:30 hair is now the color of sparkling champagne, as opposed to its natural color of "faded mouse". Getting everything ready for the cable guy, then checking with kids to see if they are coming to dinner before pulling stuff out of freezer.

Laughing out loud here - I misread it as 'spent a few days hemming, hawing and making tie backs' and didn't think there was anything particularly odd in that...
This is a lovely positive post and I'm very impressed with your pile busting!
Glad you liked the puppy and kitten :)

Today is a day to regroup from vacation:
At 10:15, I need to leave for a funeral for someone at my church. That should go until about 12:30.
Other than that, I need to:
*Do laundry
*Unpack
*Go grocery shopping (carefully, since in January I'm experimenting with tightening my budget quite a bit)
*Financial stuff
*Deal w/ lab stuff (just enough to get me organized for the coming week)
OK, right now I'm going to make a shopping list (planning around coupons/circular as much as I can)
kromer 8:30 CI
Yikes! Very tired and still have lots to do.
OK, immediate next steps are:
1)Finish cooking tasks (want to have food prepped for the week)
2)Do dishes and put away leftovers
3)Do laundry (inc. a little handwashing)
4)Unpack
OK, back after task (1)
krome 1:25 CI
OK, I made a list, made a bit of progress on unpacking, and went to funeral. Had lunch after funeral, then went to lab. Now I feel like I have an overwhelming amount of stuff to get done in lab...papers are a mess and have to take care of some experimental things. However, I'm going to leave by 3 no matter what, so I have time to do other things.
That said, here are my priorities:
1)Check on/wean mice (done)
2)Clean off bench, take care of cells (feeling really tired, but going to pick myself up and do this now) (done)
3)Take care of probability papers (working on this now, to finish I will have to stay a bit past 3, but I'll leave by 3:15 even if not done)
4)Take care of as many other papers as I can before 3.
hugs for the funeral *hugs*

Falcon CI Saturday
Hi pro buddies,
Happy new year, everyone!
I'm home from a vacation, which was fabulous!
Right now, I'm totally jet-lagged, and my innards are messed up from having been sick the day before coming home - still a little under the weather, and I think my body is now totally confused!
So, this is a somewhat unambitious list, because eating a bowl of cereal seems like more work than usual at the moment.
Falcon
Falcon CI Sat. change in plans
Whoa, change in plans. . .
Turns out I was a lot more under the weather than I realized. . . managed to eat breakfast and take a shower, but felt so wuzzy that I went back to bed. I guess whatever bug I had in my system is still working its way out.
So. . . nothing too strenuous today. I may just need to lounge around and doze, & might not be up to picking up the cat till tomorrow. That's o.k. First priority is now to rest up & let my body heal itself.
Falcon
*hugs* Hope you feel better
*hugs* Hope you feel better soon.

Hey Lucky,

Lucky counselling session
Just had a productive chat with my counsellor - things that came out of it:
Dealing with debt and associated pile of unopened letters needs to be top priority
Take one action on the letter backlog within an hour of speaking to her - done
Ask my housemate for support with the mammoth room tidy, rather than trying to do it while she's asleep so as not to bother her!
Debt support people are going to call me re possibly getting a consolidation loan
Work out a budget - need to do some work on this soon (preferably Monday) so I can have meaningful chat w/debt people rather than 'erm... I don't know how much money I've got or where it goes' :)
May not need an extra job depending how that goes
She also said my procrastination is a vicious cycle and the only way to break it is to do something - sounds like movingalong's 'motivation follows action'.
I need to do some planning/thinking/maths about all this, but busy-weekend tasks first!
