Journey 10 pm

A bit late to be checkin' in eh?

This has been a pretty busy day, I am working now and should be done by midnight or 1 am . . . I slept late, knowing I had to work tonight, went food shopping, visited mom, and made a nice dinner.  I'll sleep late again tomorrow but I plan to get the housework and laundry done. . . see you tomorrow!

Saturday October 10, 2009 Actual Afternoon Plan w/Hope

  •  Get ready for [home] office by 2:30 pm
  •  Call re: updated CRD needed 2:30-3pm (with printouts in hand)
  •  Organize paperwork/files needed for- deadline Project A05 3-6 pm
  •  Laundy 2:30-2:45pm
  •  Weekend cooking 2:45-5:30pm
  •  Dinner 6:15-7pm  with sig other 5:30-6:30pm
  • :-(

WHAT'S BEST NOW TO GET BACK ON TRACK?

Pick up with what I had originally planned for 2:30-3pm? Or just pick up with what I had planned for the rest of the evening, with times tweaked? My sense is that I should pick up with rest of evening at 6:30pm after dinner, especially since it's more important to get to that deadline Project A05.

  •  Addt'l work on deadline Project A05 7:15-8:45pm 6:30-9:30pm
  •

Would seem that NO REWARD would be doable tonight since I veered from my schedule. Use that half an hour to catch up instead.... And try again tomorrow.

    Welcome aboard Hope!

Great start posting your plans and then your accomplishments!

If I may make a suggestion, I think you should plan some time for yourself every day whether you think you performed well or not.  Rewards for getting a job done are good.  But for me, that feeling that "I can never take a break because I'm always behind" sends me right into a procrastination tailspin.   You need breaks EVEN IF you didn't accomplish everything you planned.  You may find that if you allow yourself some guilt-free breaks that you will be more likely to work during your designated work time.  Be good to yourself!

    Hi Jo, :)

Thanks for your response to me as a newcomer. And for your suggestions and good advice (always open to those).  I especially appreciated the comment "that feeling that 'I can never take a break because I'm always behind' sends me right into a procrastination tailspin" because I struggle with tons of procrastination "guilt" that then becomes a bit too paralyzing. Which in turn leads to a "Tomorrow is another day; I'll restart then" syndrome, which can work, but ultimately seems to just waste more time and add more guilt (exponentially).

Indeed, letting go of REGRETS is so important. Thanks for the reminder. I work on that every day, sometimes several times a day, so that I do not paralyze myself further into inaction and disappointment. I do know from enough personal experience that when things are running smoothly and early/on time that it's a *wonderful* feeling.

What I have often read is that it takes at least 8 weeks to change a habit. Here's to the beginning of that 8 weeks!

I'm wondering how to best utilize the CHECK-INs and would appreciate any suggestions and comments from other members.

Nice starter! It inspires me in my quest to fix my house up a little before a guest comes to stay at the end of the month. To that end...

First, I think if I got out of the house and went to do tai chi with my group at the park NOW, I would be giving myself a good start to my day.

Second, I've bought tickets to the singing show at 2pm and need to see if my friend still wants to go with me or if I should go alone.

Third, if I get a zipcar to go to that show, then I might as well go to Ikea and start buying a few things on my home improvement checklist that I've been thinking about for two months.
    ----

Those three decisions are already an hour late, so make them happen NOW, dear Self.

It's been a good day. I bailed on the concert and the zip car and stayed home and made good progress on the clean up. Also got to talk to friends and have a spontaneous visit with a relative before I did a little of the shopping I wanted to do, then got home to do some more work. So, a decent day.Holding fast!Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself
