Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
This morning at the gym I did my full cardio, stretching, and ab exercises.
At work this morning, I answered some emails. At lunchtime, I did an errand, bought & ate lunch, and did an on-line errand. After lunch, I did some projects from my assignment list, and did some other emails. At the end of the day, I highlighted my list for tomorrow, to help with a quick start.
Arriving at home, I have fixed & eaten dinner. A thunderstorm is getting started. If I get to update my CI later, I will; but it will also depend how I think the storm is doing.
8:10pm. Yay, one more pile sorted! :) During the thunderstorm, I kept doing Just A Little Bit More. Various parts of the pile went into: the trash, the shredder, a new much smaller pile, on the bookshelf, or in a small pile to take to work. As I was finishing up, I noticed outside it had stopped raining and thunderstorming so I could get back online :) Next: I will do just the tinest bit of puttering around before getting ready to sleep. After 1.5 years of P.A. I'm reaching a time where parts of the condo Stay Cleaned Up from day to day with minimal effort, and I can work on additional small areas that are hopefully also going to Stay Cleaned Up with minimal daily/weekly effort. That's my goal anyway! ;)
Haven't been here in quite some time. Need lots of help with my procrastinating. I think it is tied in with depression. I procrastinate everywhere and right now - in my job!! When I started here I noticed most people were not working but on their computers, etc. O.k., so I was judgemental, and now I'm just like them. I don't want to steal time. I have piles on my desk that need to get done. I also have this "I odn't care" attitude about most stuff. Think it's a defense mechanism. Just want to begin with a list of things that I need start doing:
1. Go through piles and write a to do list from them.
2. Go through piles at home and start filing and throwing things out that I don't need.
3. Re-organize files
4. Write down my food
I also feel in some way this has to do with my perfectionism defect too. When I start to have success or feel accomplished, I start procrastinating again.
Welcome back Hope! Good luck on those piles and files. If it was me, I'd break those big jobs down into something small that I could work on each day. "reorganize files" sounds so overwhelming that I think I'd look at it and then go play computer games lol. But if I put "spend 15 minutes organizing files" or "go thru 3 file folders" I could face it.

It's turning out that way. I've started my list at work, and things are getting done slowly and in small integrals. The only thing is I'm not doing the most important yet. I'm very grateful to be back, receive & give help, and be a part of the group. Things are so bogged down, it feels great to be working and accomplishing again.

I little slow getting going this morning, but I had a pretty productive day yesterday, so I'm not going to freak out about it too much.
Tasks for today are:
*Work on VAD/RA proposal
->Finish proposal intro
->Tentative doses/time points (though I'd still like to write up the rationale for these decisions more clearly)
->Read book section about choosing # of replicates
->Microburst proposed analysis section
*Work on G's project
->Start fg runs on seqs
->get motif comparison code running (OK, I have a basic version of this running...I'd ideally like to get a more updated version of TRANSFAC, but am having trouble with this)
->figure out whether I need new bg run
*List of expt. skills I need
*Write up hh and fgf results (if I have time) (I might get around to hh pathway, don't think I'll manage fgf)
*email DG, deacons, ce, family (will do this in the evening)
*Budgeting, pay bills (will do this in the evening)
This is an ambitious list, but I'll try to get as far as I can.
OK, I'm going to start with an hour's work on VAD/RA proposal, then I'll work on G's project for a bit.
OK, I've had a fairly productive day, and a nice dinner w/ a friend.
This evening I still want to get a bit done. Right now, I want to go walking for 30 min or so. Then, I want to send emails, pay bills and do budgeting. Then, I want to see if I can get updated version of TRANSFAC and maybe work on hh results.
I have done an excellent job of procrastinating this morning, for the last three hous I have tittled but now after reading some of the posted materials I am committed to getting things done. First for the next 15 minutes I will create a time action and will bookend with a action plan for tasks through 12 noon. I can only take baby steps at this point I am so resistant to structured living.
Good morning! Working from home again today. Yesterday was a VERY good work-at-home day due to turning off the personal computer. It is very tempting to think I can just turn it on and check my personal email or listen to some music, but I was so pleased with my productivity yesterday I know I'll be much better off without it. It feels really good to crawl into bed at night knowing you've done a good job that day
Today, I've been to the gym, read new email, and checked my calendar. I'm going to have some breakfast and make my todo list now. See ya later!
UPDATE 3 pm: Darn it I did really good until I got on my p.c. at 1 to meet a friend for virtual lunch. Then after lunch, I was just gonna check a couple things and boom! an hour was gone. Luckily I came to my senses after only an hour and now I am back in the groove. I want to complete 3 more work tasks and I have 3 hours to go, so I think I can do eeet.
UPDATE 4 pm: Task 1 of 3 afternoon tasks completed. SHORT break then on to task #2.

I decided that I will go the gas station first thing in the am to get gas, which changes up my am routine by a huge amount. ah well.
I also need to organize some paperwork for my new job, which requires gas to drive on, and money to receive, neither of which I have. Tomorrow, tomorrow. be patient.
