Focus on the hope!

Thanks to members bGG and Clem for today's banner!

CL mantra day 15ish and foolish pride

i'm such an addict. There is a tiny bit of good news in my weekly report, and i can feel myself starting to think--that's it, my problems are solved.

Ok deep breath. I am grateful that i am aware of this in myself.

It is the first step to realizing that if i have recovery it is BECAUSE of the operation of HP in me thru the recovery milieu, not because i never needed it in the first place.

My instinct is so illogical i really have a hard time believing i could think that way, and yet i do. I feel like i'm in the twilight zone.

Movingalong is grateful.

Hello all.

I chose today's banner because I was paralyzed by guilt.

Having taken the conscious action of posting it, my day went better.

I am grateful to Clem and bGG for the words and banner design.

I am grateful to all of you for being here.

I am grateful to Higher Power for bringing me here.

hi movingalong

Your words paralyzed by guilt really struck me - I have been there so many times and I think thats why Clements quote is so powerful to us! I think the fellowship and family spirit here of us all overcoming together and walking in love and support is inspiring and beautiful!  I am grateful too.

I am so glad your day went better, awareness is one of our greatest tools! You are in my prayers as I pray for myself daily!

Hi Pro Buddies!

A quick note before I go to one of my other 12-step program meetings tonight. I am glad to be safely home from my vacation trip. While I have been to my vacation destination before, this time I drove (9.5 hours each way) so that was different. It also activated some agoraphobia symptoms, but I just experienced and dealt with the symptoms when they happened, and everything turned out ok and I had a great time on the trip.

Being back at my new condo, it feels so good to be here! Even though I have procrastinated so that it is messy with unpacked boxes, it feels really good to be home! :)

It's time for me to go to my other program's meeting! Have a great night! :)

Hi Pro Buddies!

I went to the meeeting of one of my other programs. My sponsor wasn't there -- darn! ((sigh)) I was going to CI with them about some upcoming stuff this week. OK, I will just try to go One Day at a Time/One Hour at a time this week. I've got a bunch of stuff coming up (which means a lot of issues coming up), so I will try to make progress through it, then give them an update next week. I can also make phone calls in my other program, too if needed.

Tonight what I need to do is: have a little quiet time, then try to go to sleep early. I need to get up early to start on the things for tomorrow + the remainder of the week! HP & all my programs will be needed this week, for sure!

Have a great night! :)

Thanks, Clement!

Hi Clement!

Thanks for your encouragement :) Yes, for the 9.5 hour drive each way, I researched the Interstate exits on the Internet to make a Plan A and a Plan B. While the agoraphobia still came up multiple times, I would just feel it, and then take a break when I needed to. I didn't let it stop me from going on the trip!

Have a great week! :)

cookies are finished, clothes and stuff to give away is bagged and ready to go out.  First load of dishes done, meat taken out for dinner, easter decorations brought up.  Could be time to take the Christmas stuff down!!  Need to get off computer, although me and the kids did watch a real cool animatied STOMP.

Off I go!

Was traveling last week for spring break.

Now I'm back, and need to get to work!

Today I'm exhausted (had an overnight layover on the way back, didn't get much sleep), but I need to do work anyhow--I'm pretty behind. I'm going to stay in lab until 4 or 4:30, then head home to catch up on chores and such.

MITs:
*Finish MoD on translational sets (almost done)
*Look for strand bias in motifs
*Look for uAUGS/uORFS (almost done)
*Budgeting (will do after unpacking)
*Laundry/unpack (working on this now)
*Finish reading paper+skim review
*Call AG, email B (will do this soon)

Other tasks
*Review midterm (will do this soon)
*30 min work on presentation
*Start comparison to transfac

OK, I'll start w/ first 3 MITs, then head home to call AG, do laundry and do budgeting. Heading to chatbox now (and putting on some energetic music to help with tiredness).

Eventful am!  Wasn't planning on leaving house after dropping son off at school, but hubby forgot debit card, so out we went.  Shopped at malwart and spent too much money, of course.

got home and started doing stuff right away instead of getting on here.  Managed to declutter dd's t-shirt drawer and pj drawer, and pulled pile of giveaway clothes from my closet, seperated them and they are ready for bags.  Put away goods, cleaned kitty litter, and started new load of laundry.  filled dishwasher, waiting for laundry to finish so I can run that.

Dd and I are gonna make cookies, and I will use timer so jump around house to complete assorted tasks - have 1hr20min til need to p/u son, I am curious to see how much I can get done!

GeorgeSmiley 9 AM

Good morning.

I have many things to do today. I'm going to try the strategy of a little bit on a lot of things, and see how that works. I'm going to be in chatbox to help keep on task.

I've been at work for an hour reviewing my tasks for the day and week ahead.

Now I'm going to start doing real work.

Update, 7 PM

Good things: Made major progress on several projects

Bad things: Spent 3 hours today on "administrative" tasks. That's too much.

Done for the day. See everyone tomorrow.

Show up. Pay Attention. Speak the Truth. Let Go of the Outcome.

Agnus ci 9:30am

Early start today - electricians working in the house forced us up early! It will be nice having new exterior lighting, a new quiet ceiling fan in living room where I like to meditate, sockets and switches that all work, and some new energy-saving stuff.

I am going to eat breakfast, pray 10 minutes, meditate 5, and come back with MITs - my goal is to be back at :05.  I am practicing setting time limits for myself b/c I am atrocious at estimating how long things actually take - but I will not beat myself up for being wrong! I will consider that I have a choice to see each error as a learning opportunity about how long things really take, or a chance to acknowledge that procrastination got the better of me again. Just the facts, ma'm.

I am committed to learning how Time works in the real world...:-)

Ag 11:06am

Amusing: It actually took an hour - three times the 20 minutes I allocated!  (But very fruitful; I feel great.)  That's consistent with advice I received once from a time management expert who observed me in action: schedule my best guesstimates, and then triple it. lol -MITs du jour:

  • SOC response
  • AP weekly report
  • AP Onsites outreach
  • AP scrapbook
  • 3F communication and catch-up
  • Reserve time to start working on taxes
  • Leave by 5:30 to be on time for class

Off to chat through the day...Hope everybody has a day filled with blessings!

I was early to work today yay!  I have been to the gym and visited Dad.  I'm feeling really tired today although I rested a lot yesterday.   I took a nap, which is unusual for me, and still went to bed before 9 pm.  I'll try to get everything done and get out of here by 5 today.  dd is cooking dinner, so I just need to eat, do dishes, and get to bed early again.    I'm going to grab a cup of coffee then be in the chatbox at 9.

Hope I'm doing this right!

I am going to get to work EARLY so I have time to write today's lesson plans....if not the weeks.

After school, I will  finish the week's lesson plans.

I will get to bed early tonight so tomorrow I feel better rested and better able to cope with the day.

beecharmer4 to chickadee

Thanks so much for your welcome and help today!  It was nice to check back at the end of the day and find your post.  Thanks for making me welcome!

Welcome here Beecharmer!

Welcome here Beecharmer! Hope you'll find it helpful and supportive.

Here, I have found hope and progress that I never got from any of the books I read about procrastination. 12 steps and the support and encouragement have helped me.

If no one responds to your post then you can edit it and do things like cross out done things...now that I've replied, you could make a new post and paste the old one in if you wanted to cross things out. Also a hint-if you put your name in the first line or title of your check in post, you can refind it again when there have been a lot of later posts. Hope to see you back--as Clement often says, it seems that coming back for a second post means people will stick around...

Falcon CI Mon.

Good morning, pro buddies,

Here's what I'll do at work today:

  • Before I do anything else (even check email) I'll take 5 minutes to review notecards.
  • Do a weekly review
  • Set goals for the day
  • Tackle goals

Happy Monday, everyone!

Falcon

Falcon CI Mon. eve.

I got ALL my notecards done!  AND completely cleared my inbox.  Woohoo!  I didn't follow the plan I had for this morning, but that's o.k.; getting myself organized (finally) is a major triumph!

  • Eat (MIT at the moment.) Wink
  • Call credit card company
  • Pay bills
  • Start reviewing notes for presentation on Thurs.

Hope-Faith CI 6:35

I will be out of the house early today. Teacher work day. Try to get to work and get grades posted by 11:30. Here is my list for the 1st part of the day.

  1. Post grades -- should take about 2 hours
  2. Prep for Tuesday should take about 2 hours I will do this later or tomorrow am
  3. Bank
  4. Post Office
  5. Grocery Store I will do this when I take son to golf
  6. Pick up kids

CI when I get to work and hope to be able to work in chat.

CI 7:40 Hope-Faith is not happy ): can not get into chat with new filtering software at work. Gosh I will miss it. Anyway time to move up and on. Will have to use my CI as a form of chat, will not be the same.

First task is to update grades. Opening grade book now. K grade book open and on-line quiz assessment as well. Next step is update grades for my 2nd period class. CI as I make progress

CI 9:00 I have update all grades for 2nd period except for make up work, in addtion I have only 4 more task to update for 4th period. Take a quick break to grad some breakfast. CI when I return.

CI 9:25 Back from breakfast. Next enter 4 task for 4th period and makeup work.

CI 10:20 task and makeup work entered. Now for my final class. Update task. Only have 17 to do .

CI 11:10 All task, makeup work and exam grades have been entered. Now to enter project grade and print progress reports.

CI 11:55 Well I really under estimated how long it would take to post grades. (more than 2 hours) Evaluating my time is one of my major down falls. Afraid to tackle a task because of the fear of how much time it will take, then when I finally do tackle the task it never takes as long. Then there are other times like to day, I have high hopes of accomplishing certain task and then it does not work out because I under estimate the amount of time it will take. But all is well. Glad to have them done TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE. CO for now hopefully I will be able to CI when I return home.

I missed my chat today but I did it anyway.

hope-faith

Wow...lots of teachers here, including me!!

Tell me more about chat?

Good work today ...know actually what you mean about guesstimating time for tasks...always way off it seems....anyway it's late now so I need to hit the sack!! But feel good about my first day here.  Got tons done with my parents nursing home medicaid application inspite of me being in CT and them being in TX...so that is good.  Good night all!

teaching time

Shout out to another teacher! They say that, for every hour of class "face time" with kids, there is at least a quarter hour of prep and feedback time. So we really can get screwed up with time, especially if we also have "avoidance" behaviors.

Monday after Spring break

And I'm in despair and overwhelmed by all I didn't get done during that lovely long week....so tomorrow, Monday, I have a small goal: do the data worksheet required by boss.

Looks like a promising site for me - I certainly fit the compulsive procrastinator profile.

welcome mamajama

Here's to setting a goal and accomplishing that goal!  Go for that worksheet, mama!

Convalaria attemptin recovery again Monday 1.30am

My procrastination has been out of control for the past three months.  I am having a break from work this year and would like to use the time productively and to deal with this issue. Next I need to and choose to:

  • walk and exercise dog and self
  • 30 minutes for self care
  • check in with further goals/tasks

"Recovery from procrastination means doing what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it."

Hugs to Convalaria!

Glad to see you, Convalaria!
