Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.

Sunday, 1st March 2009

We will become mature, responsible individuals with a great capacity for joy, fulfillment, and wonder.

Though we may never be perfect, continued spiritual progress will reveal to us our enormous potential.

Today I need to make final preps for a 2-week business trip that involves 6 cities, 4 trainings, 1 conference, 2 major meetings and a 2-day stay with Mom.  Yikes. Only a true fellow PAer can know how terrifying it is to have convinced people I am capable of this (who therefore entrust me with the work) while inside, the voice of my addiction tells me I'm going to screw it all up. The greatest relief is to know I am not alone, that my HP and this fellowship support me with dignity and grace. "Courage is fear that has said its prayers."

Today I need to create the NC presentation, print handouts, complete Roch intro and email to SS; do banking; buy a better suitcase; review to-do's for anything else that must be completed here before leaving; print boarding passes, itinerary, rental car and hotel reservations, check weather forecasts; pack. I also want to dust and vaccuum, stock up J & pet food; prep a crock-pot dinner for J tomorrow. God help me!

Got the giggles when I ran across this in late-nite surfing (procrastinating going to bed!):

Hope-Faith 1:20

Toady I will Get Back On Routine. Will log into chat and us that resource. Hopefully I will be able to use it effectively. Over the last week or so I have not been able to use it effectively because I am always getting pulled away from my computer. My goal for today day is to get caught up so that I can get back on my routine Monday AM. I have not used my established routine process in the last 3 week. They really did make a difference. I do need to tweak them but I will do that once I get back on them.

Good Luck to Me Today

6:45 Well the last load of clothes are in the dryer. I will fold and put them away after dinner. So dinner is my next task. I am actually cooking a meal tonight. Shrimp and fried fish with all the fixings.I have established a control journal that hopefully will help move me beyond my routines. I attend the PA meeting today and it was very helpfuly. My spirits are lifited and I am ready to move forward. CI after dinner.

Journey 10 am

I'm Dad-sitting today, waiting for the sleet and snow to arrive.  I'm prepared to spend the night in case the roads are bad.  I don't want Mom trying to drive here on bad roads, but it looks like it will not be bad.   Although 1 inch of snow can paralyze the city lol.  The local news is showing a little bit of snow on someone's car and it is a major news story!

I'm tired today, as I worked really hard yesterday and got a lot done!  I have a couple of things I want to take care of for work while I'm sitting here today, but I'm going to make this a day for goofing off, napping in my chair, and perhaps doing some reflection.

I find that I'll drift off into video games or web surfing when I have free time rather than using that time for thinking and planning.   I really enjoy thinking and planning and I want to reduce the amount of time I spend on mind-numbing activities like video games and tv, and increase the amount of time I spend reading and thinking!

It's hard to resist all the fun and delicious distractions of this modern world!

ByGodsGrace todays CI

Have had lots of emotions about church, related to insecurity, possible work option there and anxiety I created over that, and then all the usual obstacles anyone that tries to get out the door and goes to church knows about… So today I really want to go and be there for Sunday school and be on time…. Have already wasted time this morning, so will be rushing, but I am determined! I love being there and the strength it gives me.

My Word and prayer for the day: 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

To be fair, I overscheduled a bit yesterday and did some family things that needed to be done and I also decided to sleep instead of stay up, but to be honest, I could have taken time to start these and didn’t… Trying to break that habit of knowing it’s not due right this minute so not doing it until the last minute… new strategy needed!

Falcon CI Sunday a.m.

Hi pro buddies,

I have a little time this morning before class, and really need to use it to tidy up a little; my place is looking like a mess.

Some things I need to do this afternoon:

  • Get groceries
  • Go to bank
  • Answer pers. ad
  • Look up classified ads
  • Take care of cat -- change litter, brush, clip claws
  • If I have time, go to fair trade store

ETA: oh -- and exercise.  I knew I was forgetting something.

Hi Pro Buddies!

Rain today, changing to freezing rain/snow ;) [Humor]: "I'm off to the store to buy bread and milk ;) I hope to update my CI soon! ;)

9:25pm. Back from the store :) I was really buying my regular weekly provisions, but previously mentioning it in a humorous way because our city residents "stock up at the store" when snow is mentioned. I also filled up car with gas. Next: I need to run the dishwasher to have some clean mixing bowls, etc. I need to wash some clothes in the clothes washer, too. I'm going to put up some painters tape, in case I can start on the painting project this afternoon ;) I hope to update again soon! ;)

1:50pm. Paint color. I selected a color that is medium-pastel blush-pink with a lilac undertone (beautiful!). On the wall it is looking medium-pastel lilac with a pink undertone ((sigh)).

The paint is going to take two coats. Maybe the first coat is still being influenced by the [mostly-neutral] color underneath, and when I add the second coat, the pink base of the paint will be more apparent? Also, the desired color was chosen to be a complimentary backdrop for larger pink items are placed in the bedroom. So maybe when the larger, more-attention getting items + pink curtains are in place, their pink influence will bring out the pink in the wall paint? I could also use a pink-tinted lightbulb and a lamp with a pink lampshade.

Worst case scenario: I complete the painting the wall and it is definitely lilac. Worst case scenario: I buy a different $25 can of paint that is slightly more pink and try it again. ((sigh)).

I would like to pretend that I am more emotionally resilient than a 3% hue difference in paint color. ((sigh)) I think it is time to suspend judgment, take a break, and eat something. Tomorrow is the earliest than I can try the second coat of paint.

Today's other navel-gazing issue: I have started making brownies and putting $1.26 chopped nuts in them each week. To make it cheaper, today I tried 1 cup of rice krispies in the brownies. I wouldn't serve it to others, but it is ok for me to eat. I feel disappointed the krispies don't taste better. Next time I will try 3/4 cup of krispies instead of a full cup. Also, I guess I will alternate 1 week brownies with nuts, 1 week brownies with krispies.

6pm. Went to a late-afternoon concert, but it had been cancelled. ((sigh)). I have a conference call at 7pm. Not in the mood for it, but I will try to log in.

Have a great day! :)
