Have a serene, courageous, and wise week!

Sammy ci :: 8:10 pm

I took a break from homework (I didn't seem to be getting anywhere), and made a lemon meringue pie (this was not procrastination, I need it for a photography assignment tomorrow morning)....so that's in and out of the oven.... now I'm trying to get started on my homework again, but finding that I'm lacking any kind of motivation, since pretty much everything I have to do is already late.......

I've been feeling really depressed lately.... :-(  .......like I'm in a hole a mile deep and can't see any way out.....

I know that feeling all to well

Sammy said "I've been feeling really depressed lately.... .......like I'm in a hole a mile deep and can't see any way out....."

I know this feeling well and it is a hard feeling to shake. What has helped me.

If I have a certain project to work on, working in chat with positive self talk, help me to focus and get started. I even use chat to work my way through household chores.

I have developed a post that I use to focus my life. I call it Living Life and Taking Action. I continual update it and post accomplishments, thoughts and ideas. It is kind of of a holding place that gives me the freedom to have many things going on yet my thoughts and ideas are stored so I do not have to continual keep them on my mind.

When I update my post it motivates me because I can see what I have done and what I have to do next.

Good luck and we are here for you.

pro's CI - 6:10pm

I'm back from grocery shopping and it's a good thing, too, because I'm hungry. The only thing I forgot to buy was paper towels. Oh well.

I've been thinking - but need to eat first...

Sammy ci ::4:45 pm

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a lovely Sunday. I haven't checked in for a couple days....I've been pretty busy between work, church, and celebrating my birthday!

MIT/MUT (that i keep avoiding...) Annotated Bibliography!!!!!! WILL FINISH TODAY.

MIT/MUT Study for tomorrow's unit test

I'm currently finding myself very sleepy, but I think that may be a combination of avoidance, intimidation, a quiet house, and a full stomach!! Please keep me in your prayers....I need all the motivational help I can get!!

happy birthday to you

happy birthday to you, tho belated a couple of days!
I have felt very sleepy this weekend too.
If your eyes start hurting from excess reading or crt monitor use, taking a break to just sit and focus on an object that's further than 5 metres away can really help (tho not a tv!). Eye exercises such as eye palming (google!) help me too.
I hope you find a place of comfort and rest in working. And manage to complete what you need to.
peace and love

Thanks!! It's nice to have

Thanks!! It's nice to have someone supportive.... now if only my family were like that....

The best thing about joining PA for me has been the support from everyone....which is something I'm not getting much of in "real life" (aka, not online)

Sammy ci :: 5:40 pm

A short walk to the end of the road and one bowl of fresh cranberries later, I am much more awake, and starting to gain momentum.

Falcon CI Sunday

Hi pro amigos,

I just have a little time between committments.  I'm tempted to blow it off, since it's not enough time to finish anything.  But instead, why don't I get set for the things I need to do later this evening?  I'll take a few minutes to:

  • Check on ingredients for making lunches
  • Set out the paperwork
  • Check on/sort laundry

That way when I'm done with my project this evening, I'll be set to spring into action.  O.k., in my case make that "mosey into action."  Wink

Recycler CI 12:10pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Thank you, movingalong, for the serene candle :)

Yesterday's refrigerator delivery and Landlord visit pushed some regular Saturday activities into today, so this morning has been constantly busy.

I went to a mid-morning activity, then also got my shopping fix. I did errands, bought provisions, and groceries for the week; it took 3 stores, but I got it done, and was on-time for my other activity. Next: lunch with friends. Later I need to color my hair, pack my gym/work bags for the week. Putting up painter's tape for another round of painting would be good. Anyway, going to lunch will be first, then I will decide which project(s) to do next.

3:50pm. Oh my gosh, how can it already be 3:45pm? I thought it was about 2:30? I guess I lost track of time when at the lunch with friends. OK, I guess I better get with the program, then, and do my hair.

5:50pm. Hair is done & I've also taken a shower. Gym bags are packed. I've eaten dinner. Now I'm going over to the new condo.

Upcoming decision: in which condo to host Thanksgiving lunch? Up through now Plan A is to host it in the rental condo. Now I'm thinking about Plan B to host it in the new condo. If I decide in favor of Plan B, I will need to get busy right away to have things ready in time. Maybe I will start working like I'm going to have it at the new condo & see how far I get by next weekend. If it's not coming together, I can go back to Plan A.

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Unfortunately after a prior commitment and realizing that I physically can't do two of my tasks I haven't really gotten much done. However, I have a few more hours to go.

kromer 9:15 CI

Hoping to be more productive today than yesterday!

MITs:
*Write 2 pgs on PF's project
*Finish pset
*Treasurer stuff
*SLP email
*Gather results on 4 datasets

Scheduled:
*Church
*James bond!

Other tasks:
*List of Qs for lab members
*Read article for NM's project

I'll start working on pset now, then leave for church 9:45

Update 2:10--back from chruch.

I'm going to spend 20 min working on pset, then I'll spend an hour on SLP email and treasurer stuff, then 50 min gathering results for 1 dataset, then it'll be time for james bond:). I'll work in the chatbox and come back whenever I finish a task.

kromer 3 CI

Made pretty good progress on pset.

Now I'm going to write and send draft SLP email. Limiting to 20 min. Will work in chatbox and check back when this is done.

Update 3:50--very slow, but took care of SLP. Now I'm going to do treasurer stuff, then start a calc. on CTNNB1 dataset, then I'm going to head to movie. Since I didn't get through my PF MITs, I'll come back to lab after movie and work on that, want to get at least one of my MIT's on PF's project done.

Back after treasurer stuff done.

Update 4:10--treasurer stuff done, now start ctnnb1 calc.

kromer 8 CI

I had a nice time at the movie+dinner with friends, but now I need to work some more! It's really important for me to get some of the MITs on PFs project done.

The data sets I need to gather results for this week are:
*NCOA1
*BRCA1
*BRG1 * 2
*P300 * 2
*PGC1A
*CTNNB1
*RARA
*NRIP1
*ESR

Today, I'd like to gather complete results for NRIP1, PGC1A, BRCA1 and NCOA1. In addition, I'd like to start code running of CTNNB1 and 2nd BRG1 dataset. And I'd like to finish downloading the ESR dataset.

I'll start by picking optimal parameters for the PGC1A dataset. Then I'll format the result and check back here. Each dataset should take under an hour. I'll work as efficiently as I can, and leave by 11.

Update 11:30--well, I got through 2 datasets...not as much progress as I would have liked, but at least I made progress. Going to go home and go to bed now.

Journey 8:45 Update 9:30 1 pm

Good morning!  I have a lot to do today so time to get started !   I need to finish a speech that I am giving at Toastmasters tomorrow, change sheets, straighten, dust and vacuum and do laundry, and then make dinner and prepare for tomorrow.   And give the dog a bath.
First things first, though, have some breakfast then check back here with a plan for the day.
Update 9:30  OK, had some yogurt and coffee.   Now, either dog bath or strip the beds.   Checking with DH to see if he wants to do bathroom stuff before the smelly dog gets in there.

1 pm dogs bathed, myself bathed, bathrooms cleaned.   Now fold one load of clothes, strip the beds, put chicken in to marinate, then 1 hour on my speech.

ohh yes, the Toastmasters talk

journey,

thank you for your post, I have had a bad spell of somewhat avoiding MIT's and being overwhelmed -- one MIT is/was preparing a Toastmasters talk for tomorrow as well ...

good luck with yours, I'll try to use your accomplishments on your tasks as a guide and motivation. thanks again

CL ci

8:50 : first group leaves for church real soon, then i have 40 min to get ready and have quiet time. I'll have to be efficient to get both in, thus, ci-ing.

5:40pm : set MITs for next hour or 2.
5:50 (10min) : caught up here. now set those MITs.

Movingalong schedules joy.

Hello all.

This may sound odd, but I've been procrastinating on having fun.  I mean intentional planned uplifting joyful fun (not random mediocre fun).   This weekend I did something joyful, uplifting, and fulfulling, that was good for my spirit.

I am learning that I need to schedule joy as part of my to-do list.  It has the bonus of helping me become more open to more mundane tasks.

Blessings to all !

[I notice I have been just doing stuff and then writing it down or adding it into the list. I feel good about staying productive. Yet I also think that doing it that way is a kind of self-deception and bring infinite-list/overwhelming feelin back in by the back door. I want to balace my recent ability to do more with a stronger habit of focusing on clear goals that I want to do and doing them in order. Now--step back from self absorption of this scrutiny, take stock and onto next thing]

hi chick

i feel the same way, often, these days. More productive, yet not doing it in a top-down way. That's why i've been using timers last week and ci-ing every 15min. That's helping, thank HP.

hmm, thanks for that Clem

thanks-I've been inspired by your recent posts... maybe it is time for me to make friends with the timer. For now. I'm going to hang onto the HOPE I see in all signs of progress-yours, mine and others here--, and let go of excessive self-evaluation. ...hope... progress... service...
