Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Well, I did a lot of procrastinating today, so every thing didn't get done. But, I'm OK with that. I even did a few things not on the list like clean one of my hot-spots and exercising.
Goodnight everyone... until tomorrow,
Monica
To Do:
[x] CI
[x] Clear email
[x] Devotional time
[/] Shower & dress to shoes (never got the shoes on)
[x] Shine sink
[x] Change sheets & towels
[x] Mop main level
[0] Vacuum upstairs
[0] Call Dr. Wallace (Forgot all about this; will do it tomorrow)
[x] Get son ready for church tomorrow
[0] Plan meals for the coming week
[x] CO
If I can't do it perfectly, I'll do it anyway. If I can't do it all, I'll do some. If I do nothing, nothing gets done.
"I don't feel like it" is a poor excuse for sacrificing your dreams.
I decided to splurge on having a cleaning service come in. What the heck. . . it costs barely more than a therapy session, and will do more for my mental health. I hate housecleaning, yet I love having a clean place, so I'm quite excited!
So. . . I need to make the place cleanable before they come on Thursday. Gotta put away the piles of stuff, put dishes away, tidy, get rid of the paper heaps on the island, etc. And scrub the bathtub, so I don't get charged extra for the time it will take to sandblast it.
To do next:
Call M.
Eat lunch
Check library book situation -- do I need to go today?
Falcon
Update:
O.k. . . I called M. & I'll go over there for a little while this evening. I've had something to eat, and checked to see that I don't have to go to the library today.
I think the best way to tackle the tidying is to do a (10 + 2) x 5 hack. I'll see how much I can get done in each room in 10 minutes. And for the two minute break I can play one ropund of a fun little online game that I found. (I won't tell you what it is, 'cause it's total procrastination bait!)
I'll do a couple of rounds of tidying, then check back in. . .
O.k., at least I got a start on things, and tidied some things (like some clothes that needed hanging up) that had been sitting around forever.
Yeah, cleaners are great! Before I moved, I used to have a person come in regularly a couple of times a month. I loved that. Not only was the place clean, and I didn't have to do it, but it was an incentive to keep things tidy, too. I can't afford that now, but if the one-time cleaning goes well, I may check my finances to see if I could afford, say, once a month. If I can work it out, it will be worth the money just to not have the constant inner conflict of hating to do it.
Next up: a few more minutes of tidying, then get ready to go over to M.'s for a while. I'll try & come back pretty early so I can get rolling again in the morning.
Cleaners, that sounds like a greaat idea! I've done that once... and reading your post inspires me to think... aha, another motivation to press on with decluttering! :smile:
Well that didn't work out so well. I got caught in a downpour. I eventually bought an unbrella, but not before I got soaked.
I'm in a really bad mood.
I can't go grocery shopping because it's pouring. I need both hands to carry the bags - can't also be carrying an umbrella.
I'm in such vile humor right now I think I'll watch TV for a while. I'm in no mood to launch into piles or accounting. Maybe later when I'm feeling less like killing someone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I finally got through all the email backlog, but it took so long that I'm feeling kind of down now - feel like I lost the morning.
I need to get outside at some point today and I have grocery shopping to do, so I think I'll do that now, then accounting.
It's too late for me to go to the cafe now (probably could not get a seat) so I may as well take the extra battery out of my laptop - or maybe I can go tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I just got through the list of PA membership requests. About a dozen of them were from the same spammer in China (I won't say how I know - if they figure out how I know, they will work around it).
Now I have some more Inbox stuff to deal with. I'm starting to get hungry. It's almost 11am, and I'm still clearing out email. This is ridiculous.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
*sigh* I came to the computer this morning with good intentions of planning my day and making a grocery list. Got frustrated because my favorite grocery store's online ads aren't working. I need to get out of the house, grab the paper grocery ad and then finish my list. But instead, I played my favorite video game :)
Now I'm hungry, so I'm going to make a quick breakfast, get dressed and get out of here, before I can get distracted agian!
"I tell you, we are here on earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different." - Kurt Vonnegut
I keep trying to use Google Chrome and it keeps crashing, so screw it. I'm back to IE. This time I lost the message I was trying to post here.
I was so behind in my spam/email that it has taken me nearly two hours just to clear out my spam folders and make a first pass through my Inbox. I also had to do a reboot in there because my virus scanner wouldn't turn off (and shouldn't have been on in the first place). I also checked my virus scanner settings.
So now I have to go through a very long list of membership requests for this site. It's time consuming to go through these, but the alternative is massive spam bombing, which is what was happening before. That not only takes a while to clean up, it's gross. So I will continue to screen new members - now off to the list.
Meanwhile, I've done nothing on my accounting yet today, and it's past 10am.
Getting a late start this morning, but at least I'm getting started now!
I've got lots to get done today:
MITs:
*1 hr gathering lit search results
*Download 2 datasets
*Try to fix bike
*Finish pset
Other tasks:
*Spend 1 hr organizing papers and computer files
*Read 1 paper
*Email about Harambee
*Email SS
Breaks:
*Call RHS
*Gospel concert!
I'm going to start with the pset. Back when that's done (2-3 hrs)
Undate 2:45--pset done (took 3 hours to actually do it, but I had to spend an additional 1.5 hrs going over my notes)+a 45 min break/lunch. Now I'm going to try and fix my bike. Will allow myself 2 hrs max for this
I made good progress on fixing my bike (now the front shifter mostly works, which is a big improvement), and had dinner. Now I'm going to microburst getting datasets (5 min), then I'm going to change and leave for the gospel concert.
Well I did not completely accomplish all that I wanted to today it is ok because I did not waste my day. It has been a very productive day despite the fact that for 75% of the day I had 2- 8 year olds 1- 7 year old and a 2- year old running around my house.
It is time to call it a day and be satisfied with my accomplishment. Goodnight to all.
This is what I always tell my children when we go to bed.
I've done some food shopping and now at my desk to take the first steps on MUT.
break it down, visualize, microburst .
Okay, I've got most but not all of what I need, had coffee, going to try the chatroom instead of filling up this CI. If the chatroom goes dormant when my computer sleeps, I'll go back to using this space.
Chatbox really helps. Now I am back after dinner, want to get some good hours of work done, aware that I also need sleep and some time away from desk.
I swapped in a second battery on my laptop (took out the DVD). I think before I go I'll clear out my Inbox, which is a mess. I have a lot of catch up on, including new member requests for this site. Starting that now...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I'm back from the booksigning.... it was very cool. Now I can cross someone off my "people i'd like to meet" list. I'll probably be doing some family stuff tonight, but I'd like to work on my tearsheet book and my typography assignment tonight as well.
The weather is getting icky here..... dark, cold, windy, rainy, and snowy.....
good morning, all. Recycler, I am grinning at that dog speeding down the highway! Thanks for your service of starting the thread.
I woke up to my son walking around getting ready to leave this morning and it reminded me of the fact that he did not ask me to wake him up, nor to help him pack. Wonder of wonders, kids do grow up! He left the house with ample time to make his bus, did not ask for a ride to the subway, and basically is acting responsibly - for the moment.
I was up late last night, and so am quite sleepy, but as the sun is up I have some motivation to get going.
for now: water, meds, weigh, shower and dress, make bed, launder a load, dishes, breakfast and plan the day, not necessarily in that order. bbl.
It was not the most productive day, but I did manage to make some headway on the kitchen crud, have a wrestling match over the couch with my son and my spouse, manage through the potentially hateful luncheon with family and comfort a friend.
Tomorrow: I would like to
mit: get to the meeting here
mut: go through bills
laundry, weed out belongings in the bedroom, vacuum, do some yardwork if feasible. take out broken lawn mower to the trash, reread requirements for instate residency.
Last night I got home so late, I didn't check in; so figured I better do an early CI today.
This morning, I need to start painting a wall at my new condo. If I can do the first coat this morning, then I can do the second coat this afternoon ;) I also need to buy provisions, and then also will buy a refrigerator and washer & dryer today :) I might update my CI later ;)
10am. Somewhat bogged down. ((sigh)). OK, so far what I have accomplished this morning is buying provisions. I also opened my new camera, took some pics, and am re-charging the camera battery. There is something else I need to get at the store, so I think I will shop next.
1:45pm. It's true -- this weekend I did need to buy appliances for my new condo anyway. Plus this weekend is tax-free appliance weekend in my state, plus the stores were having 10% or more off appliances. To not buy it would be procrastinating. However, I should have also been painting the kitchen at my new place. I feel like I goofed off somewhat, in shopping for appliances the last 3 hours. But I needed to accomplish it one way or the other, so at least it is done. Clothes washer & dryer to be delivered Thursday, fridge to be delivered next Saturday ;) Next: seriously, I do need to paint on the kitchen. How about if I take my painting clothes over to the new condo, and just do a little painting? I have a party tonight, so maybe I can paint a little bit, to have something to tell them about at the party.
