Recycler CI 9:20pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Made it through another Monday :)

Today: early train, elliptical, stretching, work, paid attention to friend. ***Successfully accomplished what I tried to do Friday, which didn't work on Friday, but today HP helped me and I made it through*** Had celebratory lunch :) Consulted with coworker(s), worked on projects. Rode train home, made hotel reservation for future vacation. Support group meeting. Snack with sponsor after meeting. Next: let food digest a little bit, then go to bed so can ride early train in morning.

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Journey 8 pm

DH and DD made dinner, now I need go clean up the kitchen!  Bookending 30 min of chores, dishes and laundry.  Then I'm free to fool around on second life for a little while, but I am going to try to get to bed early, as I'm feeling tired.

Here it goes...(Am a little scared that I won't keep this promise with myself)

First CI , Monday 7/28/2008 15:39pm!

Today, I will :

- Setup Simple System for To Do's -correction...will spend 30 minutes on setting up system! (am new to this, need to be realistic I think)

- Pay AMEX late bill

Takeachance

you're going great, takeachance!

Congrats on using the check-in for good purpose. I often need to down-size my daily expectations here so I can keep it real. Way to go!

takeachance check in

yep, off to a great start!  It's probably a good idea to limit the amount of time you want to spend on setting up your system - if you are like me I can fiddle with my time management and planning systems all day and never actually do any of the tasks on the list.  So, good job planning to spend 30 minutes on it!

Agnus ci & 3:45 follow-up & 5:35

Good Monday morning to my fellow recovering procrastinators!  I rested almost all weekend, on purpose, with no lists of MITs or to-do's. I thought that would help me be more motivated to focus Mon-Fri. But here it is after 1 p.m. and I have not really started my day. I guess this is a lesson in "One Day At a Time," needing to deal with my procrastination like a "real" addiction that doesn't take days off. sigh.

I'm actually feeling so far afield that I'm going to have to pray before setting my MITs. I commit to returning with MITs in 20 minutes. ...

OK, back - had the MITs in 20 but made a phone call before coming back so I'm late (surprise. sigh again). MITs:

  • Appeal FUTA fine DONE -
  • add 2:20 CONF CALL DONE.
  • Return AT&T phone REALLY resistant to this task. Need to break it down, visualize and find the sticking points (besides th obvious aggravation of time/$ spent on stuff that doesn't work...grr)
  • Spend 1 hour on Job Prep
  • Spend 30 minutes on DWS invoices
  • Spend 1 hour estimating remaining KRA hours

Just got back from Toastmasters . . . taking 20 mins. for lunch, then check back.

AVACAL201 monday check in 9:52 AM

Hello All!

yesterday was productive, but I noticed a little backsliding.

Most Important Tasks

  1. Data transformation/migration stuff
  2. Make changes to the display and check in.
  3. new tasks - bug fixes/enhancements.
  4. testing and review of existing code.

Goals for the day

  1. 65% or better logged work time
  2. better note taking/journaling
  3. concentrate on logging distractions
  4. Thanks!  --Pete

not having a good week

Monday did not go so well for me.  I am in a classic situation where I like to procrastinate, which is, in a situation which is important but not urgent.  With the pressure off, I get distracted and have a tough time staying engaged.

By my own metric I was productive for 53% yesterday, but I am not making much progress on the data migration, something I need to be focusing on.

avacal201 - I can relate!

I seem to need a certain level of panic to focus my attention and shift from inertia to action. One of the problems I'm having now is that my schedule doesn't have that built into it anymore - a good thing in some ways, but an adjustment I'm finding difficult to make.

Nothing like fear to focus the attention!!

Journey 9:30

Good morning "PA"LS.

I didn't feel that I had gotten much done over the weekend, but when I reviewed my list, I found that had done most of the things I had planned to do.  Funny that the way I feel about my productivity and my actual productivity can be MILES apart.  Some days I can stay busy all day and feel very tired at the end of the day, and then realize I didn't get anything important done.  Other days, I don't feel that I've worked hard, but then realize I did everything I really needed to do.  Setting MITs has something to do with that I'm sure, but I haven't quite figured it out yet.  And I can't figure it out on a Monday morning, so I'll just let it go for now!

I'm off to a good start today.  I've been to the gym, read my email, and set my MITs for the day.  Off to get some coffee and start on MIT #2 !

School starts next week so the good traffic days are over - I've been able to get to the gym at 6:30 or 7 and still make it to work by 9.  I'm going to have to start getting my a$$ to the gym at 5:30 again and it's not going to be fun.  I keep reminding myself that I get up early so that I can have this time for myself.  But self replies "if this is my time, why can't I sleep?"

kromer 9:05 CI

I was actually *early* to work today. Yay!

My first task this morning is to finish randomization test code. This means:
1)Test/debug code for writing model and data files (30 min) DONE
2)Write code to run all ampl jobs. This is somewhat tricky, as some bugs in the queuing software prevent it from recognizing when ampl jobs are complete, so I need code to remove jobs from the queue when they're done (30 min) DONE
3)Write code to combine results and assess significance for each coregulator (45 min)

Updates as I finish the sub-tasks, new check-in when entire task is complete.

kromer 11:40 CI

Pretty much done with rand. code--tests are still running, but I don't need to do much more.

I also had lunch.

Now I need to make a phone call, and I'm going to take a short break (10-15 min). Then I'm going to write out pros/cons of node capacities (30 min), and then try out node capacities.

Update 12:10 made phone call and took break, now starting writing out pros and cons, update again when that's done.

Update 12:50 wrote out pros and cons, think node capacities are a good idea to try
Also checked on tests of rand. code--it's working
Now I need to implement node capacities. Should take about 30 min. Check back when that's done.

kromer 3:30 CI

I'm feeling lightheaded and sick, so I'm having a lot of trouble getting work done.

I'm fairly sure it's just anxiety, but that doesn't really help, as I still feel awful...

I decided to go home, as people in lab were starting to give me funny looks, and had a snack and lay down for an hour. Now I'm going to try working, but at a nice slower pace. My plan is going to be 30 min working/30 min resting.

I'm going to work for 30 min on implementing node capacities, then rest for 30 min, then do dishes for 30 min, then check back in.

kromer 9:20 CI

Thanks for all the good wishes!

I did the above, had dinner, went to church to help run Harambee, came home, rested for another 40 min.

I'm going to follow a similar plan as above: 30 min working (test node capacity implementation, start getting Brg1 dataset), 30 min resting, 30 min dishes, shower and bed.

kromer 11:20 CI

OK, I'm feeling much better than at 9..did dishes, fixed a few bugs in node capacity implementation, figured out how to map GB ids and started doing it.

Now I really need to go to bed. Shower time!

take care of yourself, Kromer!
