N's bookend

I got up really really late today -- because I stayed up compulsively websurfing last night :(

I know it's that I FEEL like I can't face my dissertation, and the fact that I really MUST start writing it, not futzing around with the outlines forever.  :(

Fortunately, 'feelngs aren't facts" and I can do this, baby steps, ODAT.

to do:

10 minute  websurfing break.
check back in

N bookend

back from break.

to do:
dissertation work:

Good day to all.

Hi Nan

A suggestion if you are writing a dissertation: take a look at the board www.phinished.org, if you already haven't. Good luck with the d!

Thanks to Elisaveth - I'm on the phone to the IRS right now!

I was so inspired by Elisaveth's call to the tax man and so relieved about not having to go to the dentist today, that I gathered my paperwork and my courage and called the IRS about my 2005 screwed up tax return and am asking for advice on how to correct it.  This will save me thousands of dollars if I can actually follow through on getting this fixed.

Boy, what a miraculous thing this fellowship is! Congratulations, Journey! Here's to taking steps towards conquering Fear and Loathing of Paperwork!

iPedro - another late start

Well, another late start... I moped around for most of the early afternoon.

It's 4 o'clock and I completed one major task.
Here are my remaining tasks for the day:

Journey 1:30

x - Gym
x - read email
 - double check the alarm tonight!
X - look at console defs on "old" test system - something screwy there - 1 hr.
X - more linux install planning - (at the vendor lunch!) - 1 hr. (2 hrs. actual)
 - stupid visio diagram - 2 hr.
X - leadership meeting - 1 hr.
 - WPS project meeting - 1 hr. (cancelled)
 - dentist - 2 hrs.
 - dishes/laundry - 30 min
 - dinner - 1 hr.
 - more mending as long as the sewing machine is up - 30 min.
 - register for TLI - MUST MUST be done today - 10 min
 - a few items from personal folder aka "pile" - 10 min
 - screen time (tv, video games, internet) - 2 hr.

next up, register for TLI - late!  will cost an additional $5 because I'm registering late - DOH!
then work on visio diagram until time to go to dentist.

Journey 3:15 reprieve!

My dentist appt is NEXT Tuesday not today!

Journey 10 am

Well, after all that bragging about getting up at 5 am every day, I forgot to set my alarm last night and overslept lol.  I missed my early morning class but went to the gym anyway and walked on the treadmill.  Good thing I went ahead and brought up the test systems from home yesterday since I ran a bit late this morning.   I also woke up to a reminder that I have a dentist appt. this afternoon and I had totally forgotten about it.  So I have a lot to do in the next six hours!

I looked over my list from yesterday and felt good that I actually accomplished all but one item on my list.  In addition, I finally dragged out the sewing machine and did some mending.  So, although I did plenty of goofing off and fooling around, I also got a lot done and the house is reasonably neat and clean.

Today's list:
x - Gym
x - read email
 - double check the alarm tonight!
 - look at console defs on "old" test system - something screwy there - 1 hr.
 - more linux install planning - 1 hr.
 - stupid visio diagram - 2 hr.
 - leadership meeting - 1 hr.
 - WPS project meeting - 1 hr.
 - screen time (tv, video games, internet) - 2 hr.

that's all folks - except I just found out we have lunch with the Novell guy so there goes my planning time - that's ok

pro's CI - 10:25am

I'm out sick from work. I've been sick since last week and I haven't left my apartment for days. I tihnk I might be a little better today and I hope I can get at least something done (besides lying in bed). Maybe a little of my pile? I need to pick up some prescriptions later.

9:45 CI for Lark

It's snowing like mad here, and one thing for today is to go to the bank. I flipped on tv a while ago, and it looked like a demo derby, with all the wrecks. In the meantime, perhaps I should do something productive, instead of falling into the old "If I can't do that, I won't do anything". Yesterday was a cold, lazy day, and I don't want to repeat that.
To do:
 morning routine
 spiritual time
 clean kitchen
do one section of work project before lunch
 another section after lunch
 clear out trash from workshop
 check in here after lunch

e's ruby tuesday

Great heading, movingalong! It will be in my head all day today. I am late in getting here, having had a bit of a rough start this morning. One child was ill, the other did not have school, and I had a meeting first thing. I did not get all of my morning routine accomplished, so I feel off today.

kromer 7

Overall for the day:
1)Morning routine, cleaning, a little work on my senior project
2)Dentist appt. 10-11or12
3)Work on senior project 12-4; meet with EF and LR
4)Photocopy lab notebook 4-5:30
5)Work more on senior proj 5:30-7
6)Harambee leader's meeting 7-9:30
7)Home, 1 hr cleaning
For the morning:
1)Dress, breakfast
2)Fold laundry, tidy room
3)Put shelves back in fridges
4)Deal with email
5)Look over WM results
6)Pack lunch and go to campus.

kromer 10:45

Finished most of my morning stuff, but I didn't get to look over WM results. Had first half of dentist appt., then have to go back at 5 (not quite sure why they do it that way, but oh well).

I somehow managed to leave my senior project notes and planner at home :( Most of the stuff I need to work is on the computer, but I feel a bit adrift. Oh well, I'll do my best, and when I get home I'll check my planner to see what I forgot to do.
Plan for work on senior project:
1)Look over WM results (30 min) DONE 12:30
2)Email EW and EYL (30 min) DONE 1:30
--Break
3)Work on analysis without genetic info (1 hr) DONE 12:30
--Break
4)Tweak weights in flow alg. (30 min)
5)Talk to LR about weights, take notes after mtg (30 min)
--Break
6)Tweak weights some more (30 min)
7)Figure out BiNGO bug (30 min)
--Break
8)Finish coregulator analysis
 (30 min)
9)Work on photocopying lab notebook (until 2nd half of dentist appt. at 5)

My inner two-year-old is protesting about having to do all this work ;-) , but I'm just going to tell her to shut up.

kromer 1:30

Running somewhat behind schedule, but not bad.
I've been going for 2+ hours without a break, so I'll take a 10 minute break, then start tweaking weights.
UPDATE 1:50: Break went a bit long, but now I'm back.
I'm going to
*Graph all weights in new interactome
*visualize results from runs DONE, then got caught up in fiddling with the visualization
*tweak gamma if necessary, visualize again
*Try scaling source->coreg connects
*visualize results
*Make notes on what I want to talk to LR about DONE 2:00
*Talk to LR, take notes after DONE 2:30

Will get as much work as I can done before 3:30, then go photocop

kromer 3:40

Well, I made some progress, but I fell into the trap of doing unplanned rather than planned work :P
So more work tonight: need to graph weights and try scaling source->coreg connections and to visualize the results. Now I'm off to photocopy notebook, then to dentist appt. 5, then will work on graphing weights if time, then will leave campus promptly at 6:30 (so I can be on time for 7:00 mtg)

kromer 5:50

Back from dentist appt. I got half of notebook photocopied. I'm going to try to get the weights graphed and posted on lab wiki, then will leave for Harambee leaders mtg.
UPDATE 6:20: Have graphed weights, and also figured out BiNGO bug
Since I have a few extra minutes, I'll plan out my evening (after I get back from leaders mtg around 8:30 or 9:00)
1)Take notes on what was discussed at H. leaders mtg (15 min)
2)Start scrubbing mold off bathroom ceiling (20 min)
3)Finish and email out coreg. anal. (30 min)
4)Try scaling source->coreg weights (1 hr)
5)Email about interviews (15 min)
6)Change sheets (10 min)
7)Any small tasks on my to-do list I've forgotten about
OK, now I'll clean off my computer desktop, then head out to Harambee.

kromer 10:30 CI

Meeting went ridiculously long, I just got back a few minutes ago.
Revised plan: I'll scrub mold, take a shower, change sheets, take notes on the meeting, and email about interviews. Then I'll go to bed.
UPDATE 11:05 dealt with the mold, but now I'm just sitting here. Up and at 'em! Update again when I've showered and changed sheets.

kaoba tuesday

Today I just want to focus on routines. Just get the routine stuff done, and that's it, no extras. I need to gauge how much time I really have for the non-routine stuff.

Hi kaoba

Try keeping a log of your time for a day. You'll probably see stuff you won't like, but it's a great way to find where your time evaporates.

tracking time

That's great advice. I try to keep a fairly honest log of my days, and yes, often I don't like what I see. Yesterday was not a good day. Today has been better, although lots and lots of procrastination. I wanted to walk, and didn't, and didn't get even close to finishing my routines. Oh well, tomorrow will be a new day ...

movingalong's Tuesday goals

  • garbage out to curb
  • pay car payment and insurance
  • pay loan payment
  • work reasonable workday
  • do some financial organization
  • consider household repairs
