Journey 6:15

FINALLY made some progress on the VISIO diagram, and I'm calling it a day.  I'll check in when I get home, because I do want to do a few little chores tonight since I'm in a workshop-thingy all day tomorrow (The Baby Boomer Women's Retreat) should be fun.  I think there are two yoga classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, lectures by a nutritionist and some other expert at something or other, and a supposedly nice catered lunch.  A few ladies I know from yoga are going to be there so it should be a fun day for me :)

caught in the act

I had a disappointing breakfast meeting. I was hoping the meeting would lead to a new project or even a full-time job, but there's no immediate prospect there. I came home and started surfing the Web. Funny how that works, right? I was feeling pain, so I turned to unfocused activity for comfort. I feel happy I recognized it after only about 15 minutes.

call Jeff for support - not more than 20 minutes ("getting support" can turn into procrastination for me)
30 minutes job hunting
15 minutes prayer/meditation
finish recut and burn DVD of short
2.5 hours on O

Thanks!

Journey 9:45

Can't believe it's Friday already!  Yea!  I finally got my Toastmaster's Club Budget updated last night.  It wasn't so bad once I finally faced it.  I probably finished it in less than an hour.  Now why did I stress over that so much :P   ??

Have to do some chores tonight because I have that retreat tomorrow all day - at least I think I do - since I haven't called to find out if I'm registered.  I'm going to make that phone call RIGHT NOW and then check in again.

Journey 2:30

Did pretty good until lunchtime and have been unfocused since.  Checking in to get back on track.
Will work on my visio diagram for next hour, then check back.

arrrgghhh struggling with this diagram.  I can't seem to stay focused on it long enough to make any real progress.  I don't really know what I'm doing with this VISIO software so keep finding every excuse to avoid working on it.  I have one more hour left in this day, going to try to face the fear of the unknown here and get as much done as possible before I go home.

I have blocked every possible surf-inducing web site so at least I don't have that temptation  . . . course I could unblock them if I REALLY wanted to . . .

made the phone call!

taking a quick break and then prepping for 11 am meeting.  Check in again after lunch or before if I catch myself goofing off.

9:45 CI for Lark

Good morning everyone. I'm feeling rough still, but functional. One thing for today was to burn a pile of bushes I'd removed. Nearly everything around here gets infested with something called multiflora rose, and aside from poison, the only way to be rid of it is to burn it. Last night it rained, and the stream came up, and washed it all away! Yippee! Hmm, maybe I'll have time to procrastinate today? Not!
To do:
 morning routine
 spiritual time
 focus on main work project
finish another section of the "dreaded project"
 pay car insurance
 better-than-average house cleaning swoop
 tidy workshop
 paint thing for friend
 check in this afternoon

Good luck everyone.

Yuck, fell asleep last night without getting through my to-do list, then overslept this morning.

Plan for the day.
Deal with email, cancel appt.  (DONE 8:45)
Finish DOE comp sci essay (until 9:15) (DONE 10:00)
Walk to campus (until 9:45) (LEAVING 10:00 late late late)
Automate motif comparison (until 10:30) (SKIPPED)
Short pysch expt. (until 11) (DONE 11)
Journal club (until 12) (DONE 12, but need to write up notes from it later)
Talk with prof (unitl 12:30) (POSTPONED, instead work on revising DOE essays, have lunch)
Help friend with research project (until 3 or so)
Renew library book
Remove non-human transcription factors (until 3:30)
Get code to work with Xgraphs (until 5)
Youth group (until 8:30)
And then we'll see! (probably need to work more this evening, I'm seriously behind)

kromer 3:30 CI

OK, finished revising DOE essays, had lunch, helped friend with research project. Renewing library book will have to wait, as I realize I left it at home.
Since I'm a bit late, I don't think I'll do the Xgraphs today.
Instead, I'm going to work on removing non-human transcription factors, then automate motif comparision, then (if I have extra time) collect journal articles I want to read.

UPDATE 4:10 have done a rough version of removing non-human transcription factors, but an awful lot seem to have been removed. So, I'm going to verify a few of the removed ones by hand, should take about 15 minutes. Database is currently down, so this is on my to-do list when I get back from youth group.
Now, on to automating motif comparison!
UPDATE 5:10 motif comparison is automated (though I need to tweak it so it prints the results in a nice format form me). Now off to youth group :)

Check in when I leave for youth group, and when I get back.
(After I get back there will be serious organizing to do, my desk/work papers/computer folders are all today messes, and it's making me much less productive.)

kromer 10:10 CI

Back from youth group at 9, and then just collapsed in front of the TV for an hour.
I'm pretty tired and am thinking less than clearly ;), but I still want to accomplish something useful before bed. Plan:
->Take a shower
->Tidy my room, deal with email
->Finish fixing my coat
->Verify a few of the non-human transcription factors by hand.
