Good Friday morning! Running late this morning, dh was feeling poorly last night after his colonoscopy yesterday and we didn't sleep well. Nothing serious or unexpected, and I won't say more about it, as it would be TMI . . .but anyway I was late getting to work so I'm just now getting started.
I will read email, make my to do list for the day and be back ~11:00. I will try to check in hourly today as I have fallen back into to some bad habits at the office and today I shall straighten up and fly right with your help.

Still very cold here, but it's supposed to be nicer soon. One theme I've been trying lately is keeping myself accountable by doing my "to do's" before the end of the day--especially for work. Late last night I finished a project I really "wanted" to put off. Upon awakening this morning I felt a great sense of relief. "Whew!" Things didn't get done as much yesterday because I was helping a friend who needed help, and I was very greatful I was able to do it.
Today: (X)morning routine spiritual time (X)get rid of finished project (X)do something on other client's job (so I can rid myself of this person before long) general house clean up paint the kitchen wall I've been putting off for days (X)check in here at lunchtime (X) finish section of ongoing work project

Now I need to:
- Wash breakfast dishes. - Take pills. - Shower and dress.

Well, so far today, I have spent 45 minutes trying to post a graphic in the thread title. First, I spent a lot of time choosing just the "right" graphics. LOL.
And then, for some reason, the regular menu didn't appear, so then I had to read your directions on how to do it the other way with "tags".
I think perhaps those 45 minutes could have been better spent doing something more productive for myself, but I was being perfectionistic ... and ummm ... I was procrastinating from actually doing my tasks.
Okay ... here we go ...
I have to work on Humungous Task "X" today. Time to get started ..... and kick butt !
Good morning! Lots to do today. The rough draft of my NDSEG essay MUST get done today, so I'm going to spend half an hour working on that from home, then walk to school and work on it from there until it's done. Then, I'll email it to a friend to get some feedback. I'll check in again when I get to school.
Now at school. Had to deal with missing transcript and got totally scattered, so I'll do some mindless but necessary work for a bit (deal with email, check over app), then work on NDSEG essay until 11 lab meeting. Then, I'll return to the essay this afternoon.
UPDATE 11:45. Lab Meeting cancelled. Checking over app took forever, but it's done now. Really have to go to lab now; will work until 4 and then return to essay. UPDATE 12:10: Plan for work in lab 1)THEME jobs all failed, so figure out why that happened and re-run (1 hr) DONE 12:50 :) 2)Incorporate filtering into adjacency matrix code, run test job (1 hr) 3)Ask co-worker about interactome (15 min) 4)Break (15 min) 5)Work on changing code to use Xgraphs (1.5 hrs) (will break this step down more when I get there)
Almost done with 2), but losing focus. I need to convert geneIDs->gene names and descriptions. If I focus, it should only take 10-15 minutes. When I finish that, I'll talk to my labmate, then get away from my desk for a bit (take a short walk, then go buy a day planner). Check in when I'm back in lab; should be around 3.
EDIT 3:40: Back in lab, late as usual :( (got a bit distracted at store) But I did get my planner, didn't buy naything unnecessary, and also made a denist appointment :) I'm going to leave lab at 4:15, and try to give my focused attention until then to changing code.
Now leaving lab. Will go grab a snack (just 5 minutes, NOT going to get distracted!), then work on my Dreaded NDSEG essay until 5:15, then go to church. NDSEG essay needs to get to my friend ASAP, so I will try to avoid temptation and stay in tonight. I'll check in when I get back from church, which should be around 8:30.
EDIT: 4:45 working on NDSEG, realize I need to do a bit of background reading. I'm going to spend 15-20 minutes reading article, then will do a bit more reading. Will check in just before I leave for church (so I actually leave on time)
church went late (had to take some teen-agers home), then I've spent half an hour goofing off. Bad me! Now I'm very tired, but I'll try to get as much done as I can. (Essay is just not happening, though. My brain doesn't function any more) First, I'm going to go take a shower and do some reading, back in 30 min.
EDIT 11: Reading and shower done, a bit late. Now I'm going to work on my essay...don't want to, but 20 minutes won't kill me! I'll try to focus for that long, and then let myself stop no matter how much I've done. EDIT 11:25 Actually made a lot of progress 8) Essay being put aside until tomorrow. I'm going to go brush my teeth, then finish an article on error bars. I think I'll go to bed when I'm done with that. EDIT 11:55 Done! It was a bit boring, but useful. Now to bed, I'm going to get up at 7 (so I can get some work done in the morning), CI by 8 tomorrow.
I see you posted while I was trying to edit/fix the opening graphic !
I have been reading your threads recently. I am amazed by all the essays and applications you are working on. Those things are totally intimidating to me. I am very impressed with all you are getting done!
