Wednesday 28 March 2007

Here I am on the West Coast (the Left Coast?) and it's 9:15 a.m. No daily thread has been started. I'm really baffled--no British posting, no East Coast posting. In fact, this is the first time I've ever started a day's bookending thread.

Hmmm.....

Anyway, my to-do list is all related to preparing both courses, which start tomorrow. And these need to be done only roughly in this order:

- start email lists for both classes
- email conference for extension on proposal
- sign up for computer service
- balance checkbook
- complete syllabus for class 1
- pay bills
- drop off reader for class 1 to copy shop
- get key copied
- choose readings for class 2
- complete syllabus for class 2

And this can go into this evening, and into tomorrow morning.

Wasted a huge amount of time today, none of it procrastination. Imagine my surprise! I've really been working hard, but one project took FOREVER, and now I'm stuck having to go to the library, not having paid any bills (I really, really need to pay one of them), and having not dropped off a reader yet to the copy shop.

Ta da:

- start email lists
- email conference for extension
- complete syllabus for class 1
- sign up for service (the time-waster)

To do:

- pay one bill--an important one
- go to library
- drop off reader for class
- get key copied
- go to open house for daughter
- stay late and get class 2 organized, complete syllabus, etc.

Well I've had a month to sort out the stuff for the meeting tomorrow so it is a pity that I am still sorting it at nearly 10.00 this evening. I feel and am muddled. Any ideas anyone? On the positive side I have nearly finished but I don't feel good about myself.

Thinking about your post

Though we tend to put things off till the last minute, sometimes we tend to think we've failed by not getting everything done at once. Starting, I think is the key. I've been working on a sort of amends list for my work recently (since I became a member of this list), taking care of things I'd put off. I've discovered that nothing has turned out to be as difficult as I'd thought. I think we too often think things should be further along than they are, and merely accepting things as they are may be the first step.

Thanks Lark

Thanks for your thoughts Lark. I'm just getting readdy to post then go out so I'll post again later.
