Today I'm thankful for: music, how it can lift you up and calm you down.

I'm late getting to bed tonight. Also, I'm still wired so I won't be able to go to sleep right away. I should make a rule for myself that computer work stops at 9pm. Or maybe 10pm. ;) To Do: Rising time: 6:55am. Empty dish drain. Make and eat breakfast. Check email. Read for a while. Shower and dress. Lay out pills for day. Take pills - dose 1 of 3. Make bed. Wash dishes. Put in contacts. Clear spam folder. Water plants. Project A. (This was a big job so it took most of the day.) Added a monthly contribution option to this site. (Took all evening because I had to get fancy about it. :P ) Handle pile. Work on back accounting. Work on book. Make and eat lunch. (I never did eat lunch. I had dinner, though.) Take pills - dose 2 of 3. (Forgot - I'll take the evening dose.) Get mail. (Forgot this, too!) Go to drug store. Go to grocery store. Chinese lesson. Make and eat dinner. Take pills - dose 3 of 3. Empty dish drain and wash dishes. Meeting. (Blew it off - sounded like it was very windy in addition to being cold.) Bedtime routine.

I need to get away from the computer and start getting ready for bed. Somebody in the forum emailed me to ask that I add a monthly contributions option, and I've spent the last several hours doing that. What took so long? I wanted to be clever and find a way to select the monthly amount and submit the form all at once, on the same page. That turned out to be veeeery tricky. I had fun doing it - it was especially a big kick when I got it to work - but was it the best use of my time today? I dunno. Maybe some time in the future I'll need to pass JavaScript variables to PHP, and now I'll know how to do it. :)
I forgot to take my afternoon pills. I can take some now, though - at least that will be two doses.

"I don't feel like it" is a poor sacrifice for your dreams.
I think it's my second day in a row. I've been giving myself room in my schedule for unexpected changes and life challenges by only listing tasks I can reasonably expect to complete in short periods of time. I've also padded my day with breaks so I don't burn out. One other thing, I've been changing my "self talk"... saying, "It's OK if I'm unable to accomplish everything that needs to get done; it's a process. As long as I've used my time to the best of my ability, I've done well. Everything will get done in time, just not this time."
It is hard breaking the stinking thinking though. When my mind what's to say, "You should be doing more; or, you can't afford a break; or, you'll never get anywhere at this pace;" I have to continually remind myself to ease up and stop cracking the whip. It really is hard not to binge, 'cause that really is my natural bent. I look at some of these long lists on here and I want to immediately add more to mine. But if I do, I set myself up for failure, because I rarely do it all. And I become completely bummed out when I don’t. Or, I become angry and resentful at anyone and/or anything that distracts me from completing everything on my long list of things to do. I learned from last week, these are the kind of thing that completely depress me and send me straight into the arms of escapism.
So, thanks to this site and you, I'm learning and hopefully moving closer and closer to recovery.

I was feeling a little out of it after work but reading everyone's progress has given me energy. I was going to take a 30 minute nap before starting my after work routine. But I may get started right away. Or... maybe I'll listen to some soft music for a while to unwind... then start working. I'll see.

"I don't feel like it" is a poor sacrifice for your dreams.
Things are going slowly here, but not all is due to me. Several business-related errands came up, but I was able to do them in one trip. Only thing, nothing got done while I was gone. I think I'm going to try to finish the one project today. Period.
I am VERY HUNGRY!! It's way past lunch time. To Do: Rising time: 6:55am. Empty dish drain. Make and eat breakfast. Check email. Read for a while. Shower and dress. Lay out pills for day. Take pills - dose 1 of 3. Make bed. Wash dishes. Put in contacts. Clear spam folder. Water plants. Project A (this was a big job so it took most of the day). Handle pile. Work on back accounting. Work on book. Make and eat lunch. Empty dish drain and wash dishes. Take pills - dose 2 of 3. Get mail. Go to drug store. Go to grocery store. Chinese lesson. Take pills - dose 3 of 3. Meeting. Bedtime routine.

Today I am seriously avoiding one project: getting caught up financially. I just got a DA sponsor, and he had some good suggestions about how to get caught up, but I am seriously avoiding anyway. And I feel really foggy about what my priorities are. I also have a decision to make about a class, and it will be unpopular no matter what. I think these two things are what's creating the fog.
On the other hand, I had a huge number of emails to catch up on, and I did.
So, here are two things to do:
- spend 20 minutes (with a timer, no less) getting debit transaction receipts in date order
- find one of my teaching assistants and make a decision about the problem, then implement it
Then I can prepare both classes for tomorrow, which I both need to do and want to do.
Doing better than I thought I would. Having this list here helps so much. I try to think "what's one little thing I can do that I'll be able to cross off my list?" and it at least gets me started. I've even added some things to my list!

Fighting it today. Up until after 1 a.m. so didn't rise this morning until 10 a.m. Now I feel like the day's shot already and I might as well pack it in and watch TV all day.

Thanks, pro. No, you didn't mess me up. I just decided I was wasting too much time playing with graphics & I really just need to post my list and move on.
I understand. I waste lots of time with graphics. And not just putting them into my messages (which doesn't take me that long), but writing the code for the Graphics page, writing the code to integrate the rich-text control, adding a long list of new smileys, direct editing of the database to split and merge threads (since the feature isn't in Drupal), etc. Doing these things amuses me, so I treat it like a game of Freecell - I can do x amount of tweaking the Web site on any given day. :D
The rich-text edit control makes my ornate message formatting much quicker, I must say. It's also much easier to see my lists when the checkmarks are displayed graphically rather than in code.

Good morning eveyone, While there's alot of things which need to be and can be done today, I'm making a list for this morning only--for basics and loose ends.
To do:
morning routine Put out trash prayer and meditation heat workshop housework while shop is warming mail electric payment focus on project in workshop till lunch.
I'm not doing lunch yet, but rather I came in for some soup to warm me up. This is one of those days when it's easy to go off on a tangent, so a 15 minute break MAY save an hour or more. Sometimes when I make a long, long list, and look at it later, I get so tired. There's a snag in today's work, so I'm walking away for a lttle while. Often that works well. If anyone has any extra positive energy, please send some my way.

I'm Learning
Yeah, I did, didn't I? Thanks for noticing.

Never mistake motion for action – Ernest Hemingway
Thomas C.: heavy procrastination, fogginess
Today I am seriously avoiding one project: getting caught up financially. I just got a DA sponsor, and he had some good suggestions about how to get caught up, but I am seriously avoiding anyway. And I feel really foggy about what my priorities are. I also have a decision to make about a class, and it will be unpopular no matter what. I think these two things are what's creating the fog.
On the other hand, I had a huge number of emails to catch up on, and I did.
So, here are two things to do:
- spend 20 minutes (with a timer, no less) getting debit transaction receipts in date order
- find one of my teaching assistants and make a decision about the problem, then implement it
Then I can prepare both classes for tomorrow, which I both need to do and want to do.
jj's 12:15pm CI - doing better slowly
Doing better than I thought I would. Having this list here helps so much. I try to think "what's one little thing I can do that I'll be able to cross off my list?" and it at least gets me started. I've even added some things to my list!

Have I messed up your graphic checkboxes technique with the rich text editing? I edited the instructions for creating graphics - this should help.

Thanks, pro. No, you didn't
Thanks, pro. No, you didn't mess me up. I just decided I was wasting too much time playing with graphics & I really just need to post my list and move on.
wasting time with graphics

To do:

Put out trash
prayer and meditation
heat workshop

focus on project in workshop till lunch.
good morning, lark!
I like to do it that way, too - start with a short list, and add onto it. Otherwise I get overwhelmed.

Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I know exactly what you mean.
