CJ's 11:58PM CI

I did a ton of stuff today - too bad I didnt do the one thing that really needs to get addressed- this report is killing me!! but i've got it more in perspective. the problem is classes are starting again.

so did everything on the list except the report - but also did a large number of things i needed to do - like orderinf transcript, getting books online, cooking for the week, prepping tomorrow's lunch, doing all of the dinner and prep dishes and emails, glorious emails, now just have to spend some time with the bf and get ready for tomorrow.

jj's 11:40 pm CI

Made the mistake of sitting in front of the TV with a hamburger, and there I stayed all evening.  I think fighting the initial urge to do that is easier than trying to stop once I've started, so I really want to work on that.

The next two weeks is going to take a lot of self discipline where TV watching is concerned as I love watching tennis and the Australian Open just started.  What to do, what to do...

Also received news that my only remaining Grandma who is 95 is very sick in the hospital with internal bleeding and is on a feeding tube.  When my Mom phoned to tell me that my Dad was flying out tomorrow to see my Grandma, she sounded like she was ticked off at the money they would have to spend to fly out now and then again for a funeral, and said that seeing as he saw her "only" 8 months ago, she didn't understand why he couldn't just wait until the funeral!!!  How am I supposed to deal generously with someone who is so completely ungenerous even at a time when a family member is facing death?  I think this threw me off for the rest of the evening.  Sorry for ranting here, I know it's not a procrastination issue, but...

X wash face/brush teeth/fix hair
X get dressed
X make bed
X get lunch/snacks together for work
X check cat food/water
X work 9:30 - 5 (catch up on reading memos)
X feed cat
- make supper - caved to the hamburger craving :-(
- do dishes
X check email
X take recycling downstairs
- bath/wash face/brush teeth
- read before bed

Today I'm thankful for: my husband's generous and supportive spirit.

I'm so sorry to hear about

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother, and your mother's difficult reaction. I wish you and your family peace.  As to it not being a procrastination issue, I experience much of my life as being related to procrastination issues, directly and indirectly, even things that have no connection at first blush. To the extent that your family situation threw you off track, I think it's very much related. Hoping today is a better day for you.

rich-text

needless to say, I think the forum changes suck. I clicked "disable rich-text" and that's what I got (even though the preview was OK)

new lines - doitnow

It's because the forum editor was inserting line breaks at the end of lines automatically. If you edit the HTML to put a break at the end of each line, it will look fine. And after that you can copy it in WYSIWYG mode.

Or if you really hate it, click "my account" (top box on the left), go to the Edit tab, and turn it off.

Re: new lines - doitnow

pro, I'm afraid that I can't. There is a "disable rich-text" link in the Edit tab, but it's only for the signature (as I understand). There is no option to totally disable rich-text edit while posting.

EDIT: ignore that. Found it. "TinyMCE" threw me off.

Oh yeah - forgot to mention it's called "TinyMCE"

To everyone... If you don't like the rich text editing and want to completely disable it for your account, click "my account", go to the edit table, and disable "TinyMCE". That's the name of the rich text control.

pro's CI - 9:50pm

Well... I spent this entire day fooling around installing WYSIWYG text editing in this forum. I can't say that was the most excellent use of time I could have come up with. I started doing it, and then I got that pitbull thing of "can't let go of it until I figure it out". The first add-in I tried didn't work. This one worked, but it's completely undocumented so it took me a while to figure out how to add on the features I wanted (font selection, etc.). These open source projects are completely undocumented and there is no support. But I figured it out! Cool

It's now nearly 10pm, and if I'm going to take actionbud's advice, I need to go to bed now, even though I'm wide awake. I definitely need to get away from the computer - get into bed with a book.

Today was so busy, I don't think I posted earlier. I worked with someone else today, and I was so busy I still don't know if it was a good or bad day. I still have some of my own work to do tonight, plus some general domestic things. The evenings seem to give me the most energy, so I'm going for it now.

thanks!

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, pro! Yes, I'm new to the site. I started with a few postings last week and it's been quite helpful so far. I know change doesn't happen overnight, but i'm hopeful, esp. being at the start of a new year..i like that this site provides informational resources to understand procrastination but also concrete tools like these check-ins so that we can act on making changes. i've struggled w/ it all my life so need to really find a mindset & systems that work for me. anyway, thx and looking forward to being a part of the community.

Mollie's Check-In 12:55pm

I know this is a really long list. I have a writing project due first thing tomorrow. So what I've tried to do (that I usually won't do, so I feel this is progress) is to really break down the parts of it so it doesn't feel like one big overwhelming mass of stuff & I can check things off as I go along.

I'm taking a 15 minute break. I want to start taking them so I don't burn myself out before the end of the day. It's hard for me to take a break when there is so much to do, but I know it is important that I pace myself. Also, I need to start having realistic expectations for my day. Going full throttle, with expectations of perfection, is what got me in trouble last week.
