Welcome to a brand new week.

Be gentle with yourself.

Breathe deeply.

And remember we are all behind you.

marcelor's Monday

Back home after traveling for several weeks. I feel it is an opportunity to get into better habits. Today the most important thing is to abstain from mindless internet browsing.

InnerTruth's check-in for Monday, October 7 at noon

Totally exhausred from working an 8 hour day yesterday. Couldn't get to sleep when I went to bed because of the thoughts racing through my head about my financial situation and worrying whether I'll ever get a decent job again.

I feel very discouraged. I talked to someone last week who got a job I went after. I'm not sure why he got the job, however, he's 35 years younger than me. I know he's would be good at the job. I would feel worse if someone I knew got the job who was not very good.

I know I should push myself to do something about my business, rather than wait until I feel better but it's so hard!

I've got three things on the go. My terrible part-time job that doesn't pay the rent, my business that I've been neglecting and my search to teach English as a Second Language. I don't have any clients now except for one on hold that I don't want to work with any longer because I waited too long to establish a fee agreement and I low-balled her to get the work. Much of the work I did for her was on speculation. I learned my lesson. If a client balks at your fees and doesn't have a legitimate reason to pay you what you deserve (such as established budgetary constraints) then walk away!

For four clients, I charged per project and end up working for less than minimum wage as either they were so demanding by changing their mind or knew they could get someone willing to do the job for next to nothing on the hope of future work.

The good clients I've worked with either don't have any need for my services or my contact has moved on or there are political reasons why I can't get the work.

Now on to today:

  1. Thank you notes for interviews (did one)
  2. Call employment services to book appt for interview practice (line busy, postphone until Tuesday morning)
  3. Return phone call for volunteer position

PA maintenance(showing up, basics, plan, exer.)

Good to know I am not alone in a "dread task". I havebeen using "creative procrastination" yesterday, was productive on other tasks. Today when I think of that first step of contact of addressing dread task/confronation ,I feel paralyzed, to the extent that I have not felt for a long time. Grateful to be in a place where people can understand "that which could not be understood", don't have to explain all the devastating feelings that come with it. Need to take son to work then will ck back.Baby steps.

thanks Mole for starter:

Be gentle with yourself.

Breathe deeply.

And remember we are all behind you.

Thanks angus & Vic-

Thanks angus & Vic- encouragement to you both!

@mole

Thank you for this starter. It is so good to know, on this day (and this past week) when I am not even behind me.

@knitfisher

Dear. Knitfisher - I think we can all do with a virtual safety net or the support of some form of community that will hold the moment while we find ourselves. All strength to you.   Xx mole

Things that are linked

I am not by nature a superstitious person, but so many things are linked at the moment. So I am procrastinating reading a blog, and one of them has a guest posting. Then I read the front page of the new blog, and I read:

"to love yourself means to work for yourself, not to pleasure yourself"

so I clicked the link and read this:

http://www.raptitude.com/2009/03/the-one-ingredient-necessary-for-accept...

Which is entirely what I needed to read today. Is my current self-dislike a cause or a product of my intense procrastination? Who knows? But I need to break the cycle somehow.

 "There is a choice in every moment, between acting out of love, or out of fear.  At any instant, you can stop and look at the moment, and it is clear which action is which.  You will make a habit out of choosing one or the other"

Blue-eyes check-in

Mole, thank you for the starter. It made me cry, the part about remember we are all behind you. Exactly what I needed to hear right now. I'm feeling overwhelmed this morning but now I am going to put away the ipad, breathe deeply, and go start the project I am dreading. Where would we be without each other and PA? Thank you!

@ blueeyes

Dear blueeyes - I hope the project has become less dreadful. Our imaginations are such wonderful things, except ... except when things loom larger than they are and dreaded dread weighs us down. It is such a monstrous beast - and always floors me into inaction. May yours shrivel as you confront it.
