Thanks Monica

I guess one of the things I need to do today is get to know this site better, especially the graphics and how you do those really neat "to do" lists. I am not one who has the patience to sit back and watch & learn, I jump in way too quickly.

jj's 10:20 p.m. CI - WOO HOO!!

Well, I completely underestimated myself today. I was sure earlier this evening that there was no way I would put the xmas tree in the box and vacuum...but I did! WOO HOO :)

I had to push myself a few times today. I almost decided to get the groceries "tomorrow", but I did it anyways.

X make bed
X start laundry
X check email
X eat breakfast/take vits/read
X start dishwasher
X put laundry in dryer
X phone BBB (had to leave msg, but they phoned back)
X wash face/brush teeth/fix hair/get dressed
X prepare grocery shopping list
X empty garbages
X phone R and work
X fold laundry and put away
X dr's appt 11:30 & made next appt (may treat myself to coffee after, oh yes I did! and I did more reading there and browsed a few shops)
X grocery shopping
X put groceries away & take recycling downstairs
X take down xmas stuff
X vacuum
X empty dish washer
make supper/do dishes (R did this while I finished with the tree & vacuumed)
walk with R (didn't know he was going to work late - not home until 7 so by the time we made supper and cleaned up it was kinda late - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
X read ALL emails
X bath & wash face
brush teeth
read before bed

Today I'm thankful for: not having a headache - first day in a long time.

Been a good day over all, although I did feel very down and like crying some of the time. But ended up getting a decent amount done and I feel good now.

Good night.

I know I posted a to do list and it's not here, can u help?

I said I would walk our dog, Yoffee, do my yoga tape and meditate (about an hour & a half) which I haven't meditated in a long, long time, and it was rewarding, and vaccum and clean the carpet, which I did all, but also put the laundry away and my husband was inspired to do some of his stuff.

I've just been through a really bad time, so not finding my to do list is making me really paranoid.

pro's last check-in - 10:50pm

I'm not going to set the alarm for 6am tonight because I want to stay up until midnight to watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, followed by The Colbert Report. They've been on vacation since Christmas, and I've been in withdrawal. If I go to sleep at midnight, I'll be tired all day if I get up at 6am.

To Do:
Empty dish drain.

10:30 pm CI from Lark

Several things changed my direction today, but nothing bad happened. I just had to rearrange my plans and work a little harder the rest of this week. Part of the good things for today was spending time with some friends for the latter part of the day.

Oh, hey Pro, I sent you a message via the "contact" button. Let me know if you got it. Thanks.

Yoda CI

I have procrastinated doing everything I could today minus things with immediate consequences (hungry horse, hungry kid, missed meetings). But I did prioritize and got the kitten to the vet. So not a total loss but still too much undone.

Posting now as a sort of reality check. I still have about 3 hours before bed and should be somewhere else but here I sit on the www.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe - Albert Einstein

what "should" you be doing?

First of all, have you read the thread on the book "Too Perfect"? It talks a lot about procrastinators feeling they "should" do stuff, to the point of not knowing what they actually WANT to do. It's called "demand resistance".

So what is it you feel you "should" be doing? More important, what is it that you WANT to do with the next three hours of your one and only life?

TONS

SHOULD: Declutter

WANT: Girls just wanna have fun. And fun was had.

what happened to the page width??

I'm trying to figure out what happened to the formatting of this page - what's forcing it to be so wide. Somebody most have posted something very wide, but I don't see it.

found it

The forum got stretched because Yoda posted an overlong string of characters in her to-do post. I shortened it, and the forum formatting is restored to normal.

Does anyone else have grocery shopping issues? For some reason, I just sort of glaze over when I go grocery shopping, and what should take maybe 1/2 hr ends up taking 1 hr. I just stand there and can't make a decision about which brand of product to buy. Sound silly, but it feels very overwhelming. I'm reading the book "Too Perfect" right now, and he talks about even small, pleasurable decisions become obstacles because of the fear of making the "wrong" decision. While I totally see this in lots of other areas of my life, could it be that it's also affecting my grocery shopping :? Very sad!

I'm kind of depressed. Tara came over unexpectedly and we went out for takeaway and had dinner with the family, which was a lot of fun, but I accomplished very little today. Actually, you did accomplish things today. Don't minimize that. Look back at all the things you have checked. Looks to me like you cleaned your home and did your laundry. Usually on days that I clean and do laundry, I do little else.

Procrastinators have a tendency to always be disappointed with themselves. No matter how much we accomplish, we think it should be more.

Words of wisdom.

Thanks, Pro :) I really needed that. Frustration is a real motivation killer, isn't it? No more negative self-talk from now on. Baby steps, baby steps :p

Yoda - READ ME :)

Hi Yoda,

Turns out you were the formatting culprit. That extra long string of "~~~~~~~~~~" you put before your signature forced the width of the center column to be super wide and through everything off. I edited it to be shorter. Please be careful about putting overwide things in messages. It messes up the formatting.

Thanks.

Last night I had several distractions, so little got done. The weather is going to be worse, so I visited friends and ran errands, and I plan on staying in more when it's cold and snowy. My main project should be done today.
To Do;
(done) morning things
(tried, but had unexplained problems) finish job
(got it down to the door} take emptied cabinet downstairs
(not much) normal house cleaning
(a start, but barely) start on next work project
(didn't have to today) help friend later today

All for now. Good luck everyone.

I'm traveling today - in the pouring rain, unfortunately. It's a 20 minute walk to the garage where my car is parked - in the rain. I'm hoping it's not freezing rain where I'm going - up north.

After my experience yesterday, I see it will take a long time to get Microsoft Money propertly sorted out and configured. Since it's probably raining where I'm going, I can do some of that today. I have to have patience - not time bingeing.

I'm exhausted just reading your list. Be careful not to attempt to much. That just sets you up for failure and discouragement.

Thanks for the feedback

This is a long-term problem of mine. I really have trouble prioritizing and feel like everything has to be done now (though my complete to do list of all pending things is like 7 pages). I think I'm gonna start doing what I sort of did yesterday--estimate how long everything on the list will take and then remove stuff. Thanks Pro.

My user name is Yoffee's Mom (5:24 p.m.)

Hi All,

Forgive me if I make mistakes, I'm new. Before the end of the evening I have to walk our dog Yoffee, and I want to do my yoga tape and then meditate. That could take about 1 1/2 hours. My first attempt at meditating in a real, real long time. I also want to squeeze in vaccuming and cleaning the carpet. That would be so majorly excellent. I hope this works!! I really need the help.

Yoffee's Mom...

Hi,

I moved your message over to today's check-in thread. You posted it in the thread with the instructions for using the forum. If you read that, you'll see how the check-in forum works. You should post your check-ins for each day in the thread for that day. More info is in the instructions, but please don't post your check-ins there.
