So grateful today. Met with accountant. By the grace of God and the work in PA, I can honestly say after 4 yrs
here, my paradigm toward this whole tax issue has shifted. I am no
longer paralyzed, feel hopeful of continued change. I heard a speaker
talk about "change power" instead of "willpower". which was pretty much what is available here at PA. So grateful.

kromer 12:30 CI

I am sort of distracted today, but at least I have organized my up-coming tasks.

Today I need to:
Talk to Mu (doesn't seem to be around, but I sent an email)
Integrate changes
Darken outlines
Finish discussion (will do this soon)
Email Chandi, Javier (will do this soon)
Update calendar, go through email (working on working on this now)
Email about thesis comm. (will have to wait until mon, b/c the admin I need to talk to is out of the office)
Microburst email to M&K

clement ci - day 118 attempting abstinence, 38 from self

Abstinence from unplanned time.

Abstinence from relying on self.

10:26am : it's been 30min since i last went off plan. And it was a very shaky morning after being off plan for 2hrs.
It's been 19hrs 56min since i last relied on self, altho i was close several times.

11:45pm : it's been 13h 49min since i last went off plan. this has been a good day. Or did i go off, and post in chat that i went off, and forget...? yes, but i dont remember when that was... I am counting days...imperfectly...
It's been 1day 7h 14min since i last relied on self. And i have had HUGE temptations. Emotional stress, wallowing, fear (not trusting God) and binging on work as if the power lies in my skill, instead of God himself alone. But i did not give in. Close, but god saved me.

3:42am : it's late.

THINGS I DID WELL TODAY

failing and getting back up in the morning.
5min work, 5min break, to avoid binging on work.
Got myself to work on the flyer and get printed--way more "together" than usual for me. Feels "alien"
Finishing my website with say 20% of the perfectionism and obsessing as usual.

THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER

not gone off plan for 1hr 22min
Gotten it done before this late? dunno. probably couldve but i dont see how.

THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR

recovery.
website done.
prospects.
family.
situation w/ my son went really well.
taco bell grillers :)

@Mole reflection

Mole, i like your reflection at the end of the day. I think i'm going to add that.

It's even part of AA :

"When We Retire at Night" (from Alcoholics Anonymous – page 85-86)
© 2001 by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Step Eleven suggests prayer and meditation. We shouldn't be shy on this matter of prayer. Better men than we are using it constantly. It works, if we have the proper attitude and work at it. It would be easy to be vague about this matter. Yet, we believe we can make some definite and valuable suggestions.

► When we retire at night, we constructively review our day.

1. Were we resentful, selfish, dishonest or afraid?
2. Do we owe an apology?
3. Have we kept something to ourselves which should be discussed with another person at once?
4. Were we kind and loving toward all?
5. What could we have done better?
6. Were we thinking of ourselves most of the time?
7. Or, were we thinking of what we could do for others, of what we could pack into the stream of life?
[for clement, this is very important, emphasis mine:]
8. But we must be careful not to drift into ...
• worry,
• remorse or
• morbid reflection,
... for that would diminish our usefulness to others.

► After making our review, we ask God's forgiveness and inquire what corrective measures should be taken.

@clement

Yes, I think it is really grounding to do some reflection of the day, but I think it is also really important not to be punitive, and I think procrastinators are really prone to guilt. Like you I would have put in bold the bits about remorse. I find I need to pose the question positively - as in what could I have done better? Which doesn't lead down that self- recrimination path.

by the way, I pinched the three reflection questions from someone else's check-in. I can't remember who, though I did acknowledge them at the time, BUT THANK YOU AGAIN WHOEVER YOU ARE!

@RisingUp Proverbs

That is one of my favorite verses. Thank you for posting. It encourages me.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Did you watch Bible on the History channel? We tivo'ed it. It's on sun nights at 8pm at least here. It's also replayed a ton. We watched the first 30 min (it's a 2hr show per week). So far it appears to be sticking pretty close to the biblical account, and the common interpretation that's been essentially the same for 2000 years.
