Does anyone have a problem of sleeping too much?

Dear Recoverers

Does anyone have a problem of sleeping too much? I love to sleep and sleep in almost every day since I am not working at the moment. I know it's because I like the escape it provides from the reality of my unproductive life. The problem is I really LOVE sleeping but I need to start becoming a responsible, productive adult (unfortunately these last three words make me feel uneasy even though I know it's important to be one). I do have a chronic health condition that genuinely makes me tired but a lot of the time I sleep more as a means of avoidance.

It would be nice to know that other people here also sleep in a lot like me and that it can be overcome.

Best wishes, Kawaiineko

I do this. I'd almost always rather be asleep than awake. It is mainly avoidance for me too, though I think it is related to depression. which is ironic since so many anti depressants make you sleepy. The only thing that helps me is a strict schedule. Going to bed and getting up at the same time works. x

sleeping too much

I don't get much chance to sleep in because I'm working 9-5; my problem is that often, like yesterday, I put the radio on after my evening meal, and then go to sleep, waking up about 12MN and realising I ought to put my pyjamas on and go to bed.  Initially it was becuase I was seriously tired for caring for my disabled husband, but now I've been on my own for a year I still go through these episodes, and often it appears to be because I've had a bad time at work, or I've got stuff at home I don't want to do.

I'm still trying to work out how to overcome it.
