Checking in after a long time. Canceled on a client (again) because I wasn't ready (again). Justified the half truth/lie I told to get out of it. I am finally starting to see how my behavior is impacting others. 

Rented a desk so I'm not working at home any more. Progress, but so far to go.

Late check-in, meetings all morning, and just had a nice lunch.   Now to get some actual work done.   The last meeting was stressful for me because it was a 'get to know you better' meeting with senior management so it was very social .  I'm a lot better at that stuff since being in Toastmasters for six years now, but I still find it very draining.   

So, for the rest of the day I will work on my major project for a couple of hours, then work on a documentation project for an hour, then quiet time & goals review.   At that point I will see how much time is left in the day to work on some lower priority projects. 

Tonight, I must order the Christmas gifts that I didn't order last night as I planned, and it's the last day to order printer ink on black Friday sale.   Also, I need to call the vet and get my doggy's meds refilled.   I'll do that right now.  I will work from home tomorow so I can run out and pick them up at lunch.

clement ci - day 20 attempting abstinence

This is a life experiment at abstinence from procrastination. To my knowledge, there's no definition of what abstinence from procrastination means, and several have been suggested on this board. I am trying : abstinence from unplanned time. I have a tendency to jump on bandwagons and so I will only know how this experiment is going when I can look back after 1 month, 3 months, 9 months, 1 year. The idea that every minute of my life will be planned seems suffocatingly restrictive to me. But Step 3 is "Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God." and that step will return us to sanity ( Step 2 ). I have come to believe that subjecting all my time and tasks to a plan is subjecting them to God's will. I intend to always ask, what does God want me to do today? What does god want me to do next? And whatever that answer is, I intend to do nothing other. At this point in my faith journey, I accept a life entirely submitted to God's will.

10:51am : it's been 5 min since i last went off plan. the last hour has been ping-pong-in between on and off plan. but new beginning now. God pls help me get my work done!

3:38pm : it's been 4h 52min and that's because i had this big thing to prepare for. Now i'm experiencing let-down. So posting. Gonna ck the task list and pick things and do stuff.

6:46pm : it's been 8h 0min since i last went off plan. Need wisdom to tell the difference tho. I struggled staying on plan after 330pm but i think i did. I was hard to get myself to do things but i dont think i did anything not on plan. Now i have 10 min to do one of my hi prio tasks. It's equal with some others.

9:26pm : it's been 22 min since i last went off plan. tv on in the room i walked by, again. New beginning right now. But i have serious resistance to picking tasks and doing them. Will pray and tackle.

10:41pm : i trust God and he came thru in a big way tonight. First by using the tools i learned here i checked my todo list instead of jumping into a hi prio big task i found 1 task that was shorter that i had to do. it was gathering to-dos from another list then, looking at all my todos,i got overwhelmed and anxious. that sounds bad, but it made use Philippians 4:6-7 and make a list of things i'm thankful for, which eased the anxiety then, and ONLY then, could i realize that i needed to make a major shift in priorities and decide to leave something big and important undone or else a bunch of other things that are more important would not get done by friday. stuff like this never happens to me. i guess someone who's good at time/task management could have done all that w/o the drama but i'm BAD at it, and usually can't even do it, or start it. So for me, it's miraculous. Now onto those imp tasks.

11:31pm : It's been about 2hrs since i last went off plan. it's time to go to bed. I'm sad, cuz i'm "into" my current task. But that's just the addiction talking. God pls help me go to bed.

Grateful today. But faking it until I make it.

Today I woke up late.

I am feeling gruff and grumpy, alone and fedup. I need t oself-motivate myself to work, promised I would send in an outline of a lecture I am giving next week- my 1st lecture ever- and am proud that I made that promise, because I know myself and I know If I promise something then I will do it. So this morning I will make a rough outline before 1pm. Before doing anything I will not do a shortedned morning  routine and express gratitude to hp, pray and meditate. 

1) outline lecture before 1pm- send in

2) find boarding pass

3) yoga class with friend

4) do 3 tasks on to do list (eg language hw, step work, and 1 other item)

5) do something for myself
