Kodos--progress and next steps

Since I've joined PA about six weeks ago, and thanks to the quiet support of this community, I've made huge strides in my life. I now have a particular time slot to answer e-mail, and I answer all my email within a few days (previously, I could let them languish for months at the bottom of my box). My pile of paperwork on my stairs is down to virtually nothing, and I'm about 2/3 done purging the clutter from my apartment. I've spent the last five days or so resting up, and I've cleared my plate of an unnecessary (for now) project.

Now, I feel ready to finish the purging of my apartment and tackle my dreaded to-do list, which has big and small things and is about a hundred points long. I figure if I work an hour every morning on the to-do list and make time in the evenings and on weekends for the purging, I can get this done by November 15.

Thanks again for all your support. I'll update on Nov. 1 and Nov. 15.

Kodos

I don't get all the way to Inbox Zero because usually there are two or three that I wait to make a decision on, but I answer those within a few days. This is a HUGE improvement for me, as is the feeling of not dreading the Inbox.

Thanks for the encouragement! Hope you have a good day!

Inbox Zero

A trick I learnt from Getting Things Done is that once I have looked at an email, if it contains something that can't be done immediately or will take longer than 2 minutes, it goes into a separate folder marked "action".  That way it gets cleanly separated from the pile of incoming stuff, and at the end of my e-mail session I have an empty inbox, which is amazingly satisfying. (Ok so I'm still having trouble getitng the actions done, but that would happen no matter what e-mail system I use)

At the moment unfortunately I've let it all pile up again, mostly while clearing my backlog of reports.  I'll have to work on tackling the email backlog, and get back to inbox zero again.

well done Kodos

That's excellent news!  have you managed to achieve Inbox Zero?
