V 2-9-12

All this seems pointless most days. It doesn't amount to anything. This is not a criticism of the site or the methods, just a nihilistic appraisal of events. It's so easy to slip back into slothe and inactivity - so incredibly simple to forgo any hopes of a balanced life. But what else is there to do? After all, one must take notice of the bevy of new members on the site, all of whom must have some notion that things can improve.

Kodos 3:00

I'm having a hit-or-miss day so far, but here's the rest of the day planned out:

3-4 clean

4-5 iron/get ready

5-6:30 furniture store/driving

6:30-9:30 Julie and Bill's

kromer 3:20 CI

OK, I'm having a bit of a hard time today. I'm feeling exhausted after church and I haven't done any work. I think partly I'm frustrated that I haven't made much progress this week...though I have been working on a literature search and have also made good progress on figuring out sync. issue.

OK, so I'm going to:
Do a load of laundry
Clean the bathroom
Check on expts
Finish requesting fast cycle refs
Go through 20 articles
Go to the grocery store
Cook
Clean my room
Vacuum

Progress of a sort!

I've just heard myself make an amazing statement.  I was looking for something to do while the dinner was cooking and I heard myself say "I'll just put the washing in the washing machine - that doesn't take long"

Doing the washing has been one of my greatest struggles, probably due to demand resistance as I had to do so much of it when my husband was ill.

Welcome, susiesue!

Nice to have you alongside us!

fudoshin: checkin: 9:55am

Please do not leave advice or feedback.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

My vision for myself includes the following:

  • I have an excellent Gonstead chiropractor that I can check in with once a week and get comprehensive care from.
  • I brush and floss my teeth, use literine and a periodontic brush before going to bed.
  • I go to sleep in my own bed, not on top of the bed or on the couch, but inside the sheets of my bed.
  • Excercise once a day for thirty minutes.
  • Wake up on time (by 6:30am on Monday through Friday).
  • Review my notes for classes on the evening.
  • Avoid skin pickin, pulling and squeezing one day at a time.

DONE: Church online + Food shopping

TO DO TODAY:

WRITE (note to self: do whatever you can, I just don't care anymore)

Prayer: God, I need this money, approved before deadline. Or I will start to have services I need cut off. Please help me. Please make sure I'm able to earn and get this money approved in time so I can pay my bills this week. It's in your power today, not mine. Thank you. Amen.

Step 1: I admitted I was powerless over my compulsion to avoid working and getting work, and my compulsion to debt as a result -- and that my life had become unmanageable.

EleanorBE Sunday

Thank you Lavida.

Today I plan to do

4 x 1 hour writing sessions but I also have other, social things to do so will write today as a timetable.

8.10-9.10 - Session1

9.10-10.10: write day up on PA website, have breakfast with partner, get dressed.

10.10 - 11.10 - Session 2

11.10-12.30 - make lemon biscuits (= cookies - v aware of different Englishes here!) and have R round for coffee. Discuss her R3.

12.30-1.30 - lunch

Session 3: 1.30-2.30

2.30-3.30 - break

Session 4: 2.30-3.30

3.30-4.00: make broad plan for week, with diary

4.00: Book train ticket to S. Write to P re. H/N.H.

After that - do what I like for a bit, then take goddaughter out for dinner for her birthday, hurray!

Great to read everyone's schedules. Best of luck to all.

One thing I found useful today - doing something on my list first, before posting here. I love new things and new starts and can easily use them to procrastinate so it's important to get underway with a day's programme before posting here, or posting here becomes a way of putting off starting.

EleanorBE Sunday - How I Did

So, here's the list again, everything done! Perhaps a bit silly to copy it out again here, then, but it feels so good to see it like that! Timetable didn't quite work due to recurrence of very persistent stomach bug. But I did all the things on it, only in a slightly different order:

8.10-9.10 - Session1

9.10-10.10: write day up on PA website, have breakfast with partner, get dressed.

10.10 - 11.10 - Session 2

11.10-12.30 - make lemon biscuits (= cookies - v aware of different
Englishes here!)
and have R round for coffee. Discuss her R3. This bit didn't happen as she had to blow me out. But I made cupcakes instead of biscuits and v nice they were too, despite stomach not being so very happy that I had one...

12.30-1.30 - lunch

Session 3: 1.30-2.30

2.30-3.30 - break

Session 4: 2.30-3.30

3.30-4.00: make broad plan for week, with diary

4.00: Book train ticket to S. Write to P re. H/N.H.

It feels to nice to go out for dinner with all this done.

Wow!

Thanks, you've inspired me!

Somu's Sunday (posted 0845h UK Sun 2 Sept)

Newbie here, joined yesterday having read Rowan Pelling's article in the Daily Mail. Here goes:

1) Draft poster for client, which could have been done months ago and is now making me dread a meeting next month. Might only take 30-40 minutes!

2) Reward for doing 1) is to write personal introduction for this site.

3) Reward for 2) is nice espresso and 20 minute break.

4) Same scenario as 1) with new text for a client's website.

5) At 2030h UK time, join this week's meeting here.

Yesterday, adopted microburst technique with some success. Today, instigated personal do-it-now talisman in the form of wearing favourite sporty G-Shock write-watch.

Best wishes to all.

Scrap that, it turns out, I'm not going anywhere.  I don't have anything planned anymore and there is only one type of tasks that I need to do these few day. Hence, I'll just put a smiley for every half an hour of work.

Mole at midday

I love  Sunday mornings because I have three fixed commitments. I know where I have to be, do what I have to do and am with a bunch of people I really like. Punctuality for this kind of thing is one of the few things I don't procrastinate about. But afterward I took ages dawdling indecisively tring to find three birthday presents. I do have a system at home - a file for each friend and relation where I in theory put in things I want to do or say or give to that person whenever it occurs to me so I am not faced with a last minute dilemma.

So now I need to check in for those elusive tasks that run away if I so much as glance at them out of the corner of my eye.

Lunch eat calmly but do'nt dither.

Curly leaf grunge on nectarine

Rest of bindweed from apricot

This should be completed by 3pm

Prepare food for tomorrow

Fill in ringing survey

4-5.30 walk with S

Prepare plan and review for CC and comment on notes and cv q

movingalong's Sunday hopes -- check-in

Thanks for starting today's thread, LaVida!

On Sunday, I hope to:
release my perfectionism
and embrace a wiser course of action.

Update: I was able to let go of some perfectionism, but not all of it.

For the rest of the evening, I hope to simplify, surrender, and go forward.

Welcome Newcomers!
