Hypatia's check-in

did very badly last night - didn't do a thing after I got home.  Try again tonight with baby steps and the chatbox I think.  The big hold up is getitng started on clearing up and de-fleaing the front room (I've already de-flea'ed the cats).

Got an afternoon of paper work at work, and am getting a bit behind.  so here goes..

Work

  • today's reports took all afternoon to do these, but at least they're done on time!
  • write up yesterday's phone calls
  • check today's phone calls
  • write up supervision session
  • in-tray

Evening

6.30pm I'm home and have greeted the cats, and am about to make coffee.  Then it's chatbox time

  • have coffee
  • feed cats
  • put rug out in sunshine (I hope
  • clear dining room table
  • put newspapers in recycling
  • put clothes in bedroom
  • make and eat dinner
  • that'll have to do - I'll save the rest for tomorrow
  • hoover front room (in stages if necessary)
  • flea spray for front room

Please send supportive thoughts my way - I've got a really big block on sorting out the front room, and I don't know why.  I know demand resistance is a big part of it.

Show up(done), calender, walk

Did several "don't feel like it" procrastination items. Can't say I feel good about it because it "started the clock ticking" for more action and emotional distress. Oh well, I love #3, so many times it got me started with PA (ers) help:

This list of tips for getting started was posted by Procrastinator's Anonymous member, Milo (original post here). I'm re-posting it, with minor editing, as an article so it won't get lost:

1. Visualisation. Visualise the task being completed and how good it feels to have it off your list and out of your head.

2. Break it down into small steps. (But don't overanalyse; that's another form of procrastination.)

3. Exercise brute-force willpower. Grit your teeth and say, "I'm just going to do it, dammit!"

READING FOR DAY

P.A. Thought for the Day

"Those who do not recover are people who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault. They seem to be born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover, if they have the capacity to be honest." Am I completely honest with myself and with other people?

Meditation for the Day

You can make use of your mistakes, failures, losses, and sufferings. It is not what happens to you so much as what use you make of it. Take your sufferings, difficulties, and hardships and make use of them to help some unfortunate soul who is faced with the same troubles. Then something good will come out of your suffering and the world will be a better place because of it. The good you do each day will live on, after the trouble and distress have gone, after the difficulty and the pain have passed away.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may make good use of my mistakes and failures. I pray that some good may result from my painful experiences.
