It is much more difficult to measure nonperformance than performance.

step 1 we admitted we were powerless over compulsive procrastination, that our lives had become unmanageable.

step 2 came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

step 3 made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of god as we understood god.

CoolBack home with a long to-do list to get ready for my new job starting August 1. I've noticed that when I make long to-do lists, my demand sensitivity gets hooked and I begin to resist the list. Yet my fear of forgetting something important demands I make lists!

Also I'm struggling terribly with bedtime procrastination - compulsively gaming from like 9pm to 1 am when I need to be going to sleep.  This habit must be broken by Aug 1 when I need to start getting up @5am to make work by 8am, and won't get home until 6pm. I'll never last at it if I don't get 7.5 hrs sleep minimum.

So perhaps I can fool my DS by listing things I'd like to have done by Friday:

DONE! :-) Meet with B at the credit union about the duplicate card
DONE! :-) Groceries
Clean pine needles off the roof
Wash the RV
Wash the truck
Clean remaining vacation goo from inside RV and truck
Complete the gym aps
Exercise, swim and skate (at least one each this week)
pick up rx
Scan IG notices and send with meeting minutes
Call new bosses to say hi, ask if anything else needed; appt to start 8/1?
DONE! :-) Verify medical procedure date(s)
DONE! :-) Book J for his gastro/hepa check-ups
DONE! :-) Make sure all med appts are on all my calendars
Figure out the I-cloud thing
Find out what happens to my FSA when I leave old job
Find out what happens to my Outlook and server access when I leave old job
File insurance claims
Make a list of household, credit card and medical bills; prioritize and pay
DONE! :-) Shrink wireless bill
Shrink cable bill

Appts this week:
Finance guy 2pm Tuesday
Fundraiser 4-9pm Tuesday
Skate date with Jess 12:30-3:30 Thurs
Dr appt (me) 11:45am Wed
Dr appt J 1:45 Wed
Board mtng 4pm Wed
Board mtng 4pm Thur

Above all, I will daily ask my Higher Power to relieve me of the compulsion to procrastinate, and to keep me away from the first compulsive temptation..."please in the morning and thank you at night."  Hope everyone has a blessedly procr-abstinent week; thanks for sharing the path of recovery.

"My boundaries enclose a pleasant land." Psalm 16

Thankyou to hazyjane for starting this thread:

Things I want to do today:

  • Take at least one french lesson
  • Read one chapter for the essay I have to write
  • Go grocery shopping
  • Do the first coat on the dining-table
  • Do dishes in the evening

When there is time left:
  • Possibly sort through my closet
  • Sew bed-lining.

You cannot run away from a weakness; you must sometimes fight it out or
perish. And if that be so, why not now, and where you stand?
Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 - 1894)

Hazyjane check-in

Done so far: - HP - walked dogs - fed dogs - brought in washing - loaded dishwasher - combed and anointed one dog - fed cats - started thread

To do:

  • do exercises (5x pelvic lifts)
  • start dishwasher!
  • ring magazine subscription people
  • finish washing kitchen ceiling/walls
  • sort out airing cupboard: get rid of unwanted items, fold remaining
  • declutter bathroom shelves
  • declutter under kitchen sink
  • listen to something uplifting while I do all the above
  • and do some voluntary work again (1-4pm is my aim)

Hope this is the start of a positive and productive week for us all :)

I don't know, just been finding it really HARD to stick to a plan, and am comng up with all sorts of excuses to put things off. Very much under-powered performance today. Though I did cook a nice healthy dinner... and I couldn't do the voluntary work because today was awkward for them. Tomorrow is another day!!!
