From: Mary Oliver's poem   The summer Day

I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

I didn't check in this

I didn't check in this morning because I didn't do what  planned for yesterday. And today, wasted more time...I have no excuse whatsoever.  I spend time doing things I don't care about when I have so much to do.

I'm going to try meditating/praying on it; try to understand what I am getting from procrastinating.  I know (intellectually) that it is one thing/one day at a time, but I am so overwhelmed; and I don't understand it.

I appreciate the kind words I received on here yesterday.

hugs hypatia

I am still in the stage of caring for a very disabled husband while trying to carry the income and household for both of us. Exhausting,  and some days I resent it greatly.  My spirit longs for freedom from the demands, and I daydream (guilt-fully) of a future full of possibilities, adventures denied me for 15 years by his illness ... But then I hear friends like you share the challenges of life beyond caregiving, and I am grateful for what my life holds today.

I'm glad we're sharing this path of PA recovery.  Living one day at a time, right?  Sometimes five minutes at a time seems like all I can manage!  Thank you for sharing. You're in my prayers.

(((Agnus))))

Exhaustion and resentment - yes, I was there too.  You have my love and prayers for the burden you are carrying.

5 minutes at a time sounds about right for me at the moment.  I'm sitting at my desk at work, having trouble even getting started - let's see what I can do with 5 minutes

 Love

Hypatia is back

I'm back after several months gap.  My husband died 3 months ago, and the daily struggle of caring for a very disabled man while working full time has been replaced by the struggle to keep going at all.  With all that extra free time I'm still not managing to make any inroads into the mountains of paperwork at home or at work, let alone the new paperwork that has to be done when someone dies.

Following a mini-breakdown this weekend, I am now working reduced duties - spending the time on admin/paperwork rather than seeing patients. Somehow I need to structure the next couple of weeks to take advantage of this.  But I'm already halfway through the morning having done very little.

 Next steps

- complete the reports for the files currently lying on the desk

- meet the manager this afternoon to complete the autism audit

- talk to manager about how I'm going to use the next two  weeks

- SW's notes

- decide what to work on next

Good to have you back, Hypatia!

Sorry to hear about your mini-breakdown, I really hope you are feeling better and getting enough rest.

All the best with your endeavours. I find the chat box here is a great support, have you tried that before?

Thanks Findingaway

Thank you for your moral support.  I have ofund the chatbox very helpful, but for work, my employer would disapprove, so i have to be very sparing with it.  I will probably use it at home again

Some interruptions this morning, easy to blame them, but I was not
getting started anyway. I have something new and important to do for my
paid work and am scared I am going to blow it. Really I can manage it,
it is just different, there is a deadline AND other people will be
reviewing what I've done - eek!

Time to make a start!

Thank you all for being here; have a great Tuesday!

PS There was a second Tuesday post that I started; I've changed it over to Wednesday 4th now.
