Journey 10 am & updates

Happy Hump Day!

Yesterday was good . . . I am going to keep that momentum going and also devote at least one hour to the horrid paperwork tasks that I don't want to do . .

Update 11:15 bookending half an hour on horrid paperwork task #1

Update 12:23  Worked for an hour on the above documentation - completed section 3 (of 12).   I have a long way to go, but making progress.   I commit to working on this at least half an hour a day until it is finally done.

Hypatia's check-in

Back to doing the check-ins.  I've got an "admin" afternoon today i.e. it's completely unstructured and is for me to get my paperwork done.  This is normally a disaster from a procrastinator's point of view.  I'm going to try a different method of setting my TODO list and see if it works any better.

1pm     GTD processing:  today's file/desk/in-tray/workbook/carrier bag/emails

2pm     Reports project (1 set of reports)

3pm     Urgent reports (X/M, T, M )

4pm     phone messages

5pm     file letters

4.30pm and I ran out of steam.  Can't face doing anything complicated at this stage in the day.  Going to do reading for tomorrow instead

tracy-la check in 10-19

READING FOR TODAY

To Abstain Is to Live

If we do not abstain from compulsive procrastinating, we do not live - we merely survive. Without abstinence, joy and creativity fade and we are left with only the effort of getting from one day to the next. We remember the despair of living without the PA program, and we are grateful that we have been given a reprieve from our former misery.

Abstaining is what we do each day in order to live the life our Higher Power intends us to have. There are good days and bad days and mediocre days. As long as we abstain from compulsive procrastinating, we are able to accept our passing moods and the events of each day with inner serenity. We make progress in our activities and in our understanding. We are alive to the possibilities of each moment.

To abstain requires that we choose a long-term satisfaction rather than a short-lived indulgence. To abstain is to walk with our Higher Power in the way He shows us.

Thank You for the power to abstain.

SECOND READING FOR DAY

P.A. Thought for the Day

Do I realize that I do not know how much time I have left? It may be later than I think. Am I going to do the things that I know I should do before my time runs out?

By the way, what is my purpose for the rest of my life? Do I realize all I have to make up for in my past wasted life? Do I know that I am living on borrowed time and that I would not have even this much time left without P.A. and the grace of God? Am I going to make what time I have left count for P.A.?
