Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Nice photo--looks to me like a bee-mimicking syrphid fly, rather than an actual bee--this is a beautiful one!
I did a bunch of procrastinating the last couple of days. I think the main problem is that I have some daunting tasks in front of me, and I've been avoiding them rather than breaking them into chunks that are small enough to be accomplished easily. So, formulating and carrying out work micro-bursts is my highest priority for today. Even making the list, here, may go better if I do it in micro-bursts. OK, here goes:
Today, I will:
Attend 9:00 meeting
Check SR
Post this
Update scope wiki (one line at a time) (made significant progress on this)
Check mindmap re what's due this week at work
Check 8/3 and 8/5 notes re any other work items due very soon
Check for meeting invitations to accept and prepare for
Note how a work item can be broken into micro-bursts (repeat as needed) (good enough)
Do a micro-burst on a work item (repeat as needed)(good enough)
Micro-bursting bug work: (repeat as needed) (major progress on several of these, but mindmap/comment comparisons and evaluations and summaries not yet done)
Open comments
Open applicable mindmap notes
Open bug utility
Run canned open bug query
Read an open comment and compare it with mindmap notes
Modify mindmap notes to put any applicable info in bug summary
Repeat last two sub-steps as needed to review the entire comment thread
Draft or modify bug summary in a scratch file
Repeat last four sub-steps as needed with related threads
Start a bug for all related threads
Put the draft summary in the bug
Put a comment thread link into the bug with comment thread test (repeat as needed for other comment threads)
Other useful microburst candidates:
Unload dishwasher
Load one item into dishwasher
Handwash one item that shouldn't go in dishwasher (repeat as needed)
Start warm load of laundry
Transfer laundry to dryer
Sub-step placeholder
Item placeholder
Prepare for and attend 14:00 meeting (postponed by manager)
Thanks for starting the thread and the flower and the bee?
Done:
Third day not feeling well and since I saw the doc on Monday I have felt worse

Where abstinence is concerned, there can be no compromising. In order to
control our illness, we are willing to go to any lengths to maintain
abstinence. Nothing else is as important to us.
If we have free time and we know that going on certain websites on the Internet is a trigger for procrastination, we can call a friend rather than go on a website which will activate our disease.
We learn what we can handle and what is not for us, and then we act on
that knowledge in every situation. To compromise "just this once" is an
invitation to trouble.
Just as we have a certain way of organizing our day for the maintenance of our recovery, so
we have a way of living based on the principle of rigorous honesty.
Honesty in all of our activities is what makes us strong and effective.
Where the core principles of our program are concerned, we do not
compromise.
By Your grace, may I maintain my integrity in all situations.

Today my plan is to work with a timer. No Internet from 5 am to 7 pm.
I have checked the calendar. Will check on the calendar at end of day.
Will work on my top 3 list at a time.
When I have free time, I will return telephone calls or send emails on them.
#1 Project JAWS
#2 Project CB
#3 Project F
Kid baseball camp drop off at 9 am. Pack up lunch, baseball and swim stuff.
Print out schedule for grandparents. Leave list for housekeeper.
Run/Workout & get dressed for day.
I have 3 meetings today (11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm) and dinner at 8 pm. Get bday card / gift ? for dinner.
I will call and follow-up on 3 conference calls from past 2 days (1) Project M; (2) Project AM; and (3) Project JJ. Have added these to today's list.
Happy Hump Day! Yesterday was not the best. I got a good start, then zoned out and wasted most of the morning. I recovered and got a lot done in the afternoon but I want to do much better today. I have done really well working from home lately - most of the time anyway, so I'll get back on track today.
Have a productive and enjoyable day everyone.
Update noon: I'm doing much better at staying on task this morning. I think I was genuinely tired yesterday from the weekend, so I went to bed early and feel much more clearheaded today. However, now I'm facing a task on my big new project and it's hard and scary and I'm avoiding. Checking in to break the spell, and now getting back to work.

Okay, I had a real slump yesterday, but I will accept that there are days like these and not be disturbed in my schedule today:
Goal of the day: Set the alarm for breaks and working times and see if that helps.
Plans:
Shower and so on
Tidy up the room
Sit down to work for two hours
Find recipes while having lunch
Write mail to University Work some more
Have tea and snack at four
Work some more
Go shopping
Go jogging in the evening
Did better today than I did in a long time. All I need to do now is write that mail. Phew. :D Glad you all liked the bee. So symbolic!
Trying check in for first time
I will work on BW until 3pm > It's now 5pm and I spent all day on BW
I will work on YE until 4pm
Back to BW until leave 6pm +
Day 1 with PA check in - now I just need to remember to come back later today to report.
5PM spent all day on BW but I did stick to it, no sidetracking to other projects so that's a plus. Will continue with BW until 6pm.
