Had a very stressful day yesterday. Left work after 11 PM. Worked fairly effectively, but struggling with high volume (for me), trying hard not to fall behind. Definitely not present in the moment. A little while ago someone asked me if I was getting sick, because my voice sounded a little hoarse. I said I didn't think so. Only aftwerwards, when I took a few minutes to be conscious of how I was feeling did I realize I have a sore throat and my body is a little stiff. The fatigue is the same as most days, so that didn't even register. This is not a good sign. I am clearly being obsessive about external things, namely work and related deadlines. All the more reason to increase my time away from work and increase rest time.
Goal 1: Move smoothly, not frantically, through 30 min blocks x 6, getting up and moving around every 30 minutes.
Goal 2: Break for lunch, allow an hour
Goal 3: Continue to move calmly and smoothly through 30 min blocks x 8, getting up and moving around every 30 minutes.
Pretty good start - I've been to the gym, was on time to work and I am now attending the only meeting for today.
Yesterday was very frustrating. I ran into an obstacle in every thing I tried to do, so didn't finish all my MITs and feel like I have work carrying over from yesterday that must be finished today as well as today's work. But I know this is stinkin' thinkin' - the procrastination junkie talking. I will make a reasonable and doable todo list for today and do my best to finish it. I will check back when I have defined my MITs for the day.
I was looking for an inspiring quote about leaving yesterday in the past and found this one, which has nothing to do with productivity but it made me smile:
"I like a man with a future and a woman with a past" - Oscar Wilde.
Update 2:30 pm 2 of 6 MITs completed. Worked through all the issues with yesterday's install, and it is now finished. Now #3.
3pm #3 completed
4pm #4 of 6 completed
5:30 5 of 6 completed and #6 has to be done at home. I'm going to touch my lower priority project and start a couple of downloads, then get outta here.
I did all my MITs, got to work on time, and I'm actually leaving on time. /me pats self on back. After the frustrating black hole of yesterday, today was a good day!

There are records strewn around every available surface in my office. I'm losing track of which reports are needed urgently. I've an hour now before I have to rush home for an appointment and I can't see where to get started. Yesterday afternoon got hijacked for an urgent assessment. Tomorrow morning I've got five client appointments that I wasn't expecting. And my Open University assignment is due in this weekend, and I don't even understand some of the questions!
OK - in one hour I can gather together every record I can see, get them allocated to the correct sections of the filing cabinet, and put the client lists in their folder in the proper order.
4pm. Completed the task in one hour exactly. I can now see the tops of all the filing cabinets. 10 minutes now checking minutes of meetings, then I can go home
Done:
Above and I need to do more admin planning
Also sorted all bits from yesterday, finances of trip, cleaned and packed away everything and wrote up journal
Friend phones and is coming round in an hour or so and I have sorted out what I want his help with
Todo:
Get things set up so I can sort out friend's letters etc when he comes
Keep noting admin tasks to do and in particular check the lists I made before I went away
Today want to deal with outstanding jobs from earlier this week, check over emails and get ready for tomorrow, and go for bike ride - all before 4.30 pm to leave time for some personal and social stuff.
