Late check in - we had an all-morning all-hands meeting with the big boss. It was fairly informative and I saw some colleagues I hadn't seen in a while, so it was fairly worthwhile. Making todo list for the afternoon now.
Update 3:30 working on MIT #3 of 5

Whatever TUIT stands for, I like the sound of it. The last few days have
been busy morning, noon and night with parental and musical activities.
Now it's time to earn money. Music did generate a few hundred dollars
over the weekend, thanks to playing three paying shows, which is
fantastic. I also spent about $100 on food and drink after the shows but
it was still a good weekend as far as earning money on what is
essentially a hobby. (No money was earned by attending a kid soccer game
and swim meet or taking a bunch of kids to a water park. The reverse,
actually. But spending time with my kids is one of my greatest
pleasures, so that's okay.) Today, I'll see if I can move the needle on
the financial scale...
Made decent progress yesterday, but stayed at work until 11:30 PM. That's not good. Also have trouble getting started in the morning. Have been looking at internet news sites and messing around with email as a way of avoiding anxiety provoking or just unappealing work. I think the absence of an "outside life" is taking its toll. I tend to take my eye off the ball at work doing online things I should do at home, but can't, because I don't spend adequate time at home. Okay, time to redouble my efforts to be out of here at a reasonable hour. I think that 7-7:30 PM is a good goal.
Goal 1: No more nonwork internet today until 7:30 PM (this will be tough)
Goal 2: 30 mins blocks x 4, 11 AM to 1 PM, then attend scheduled meeting, 1 to 2 PM
Goal 3: Quick lunch after meeting, get started again by 2:30 PM
Goal 4: 30 min blocks x 4, 2:30 to 4:30 PM, then attend another scheduled meeting 4:30 to 5 PM
Goal 5: Quick snack after meeting, get started again by 5:30 PM
Goal 6: 30 min blocks x 4, 5:30 to 7:30 PM
Goal 7: Leave at 7:30 PM
Goal 8: Get at least 30 min blocks x 2 done at home
Today is a bit of a weird day (I've had a long period of very scheduled days, and all of a sudden I have a totally free day.)
OK, I need to:
*Try to fix microscope
*Do project for EA (making progress on this now)
*Stage 1
*Make nts
*Check on expts, mail samples
*Go through 100 papers in RSS feed
