Tuesday 31st May 2011

Welcome to Tuesday. Back from the holiday for many.

Lets make the short working week a good one.

findingaway check in

9.50 am

Have made lists for today. Not so clear on priorities. MIT is two phone calls.

I am procrastinating on sorting paper and tidying my office - not sure why.

Also on a tedious unpaid job I need to get out of the way - well it's fairly clear that one brings up some bad feelings.

Thanks to everyone for being here. Smile

Show up (done)

Making definite progress. Two more cyber exams for my son. Started yesterday with math with him. He did the biololgy all day and did not need my help. He was counting on me to keep notes organized and I messed up but can make up for it . I can help him if he does not understand something.  Last year we had a 3 week extention and this year if we keep on track, we can be done by Friday, on time. We work well together, He has adhd as well and we both recognize the other's downfalls and try to compensate. I am not taking time for much of anything else, but it is ok. Grateful that he is doing well because I am just here. Next year will be easier for him and then he will not need me to be here any more. As long as I remain positive. pleasant  and grateful, the sacrifice is well worth my time. Could not have been "present" enough to do this without PA (ers). Grateful to be here and my consistency of showing up. Don't want to think of the backlog of things I put off for this, but it is what it is and will deal with it after this.

did it again

I waited until the last minute for my paper and my transfer application. Both are due tomorrow. And I'm flying back to Chicago today. Meh. I'll be back later, just thought the sooner I admitted I was in up to my knees in the better. Censored for Hypatia :)

Scribbler's Two-Fer Tuesday CI 10:03 a.m.

I'm getting a late start due to lounging around at girlfriend's this morning. I have much to do, as usual, including a couple of tasks I didn't get done yesterday. I'm particularly annoyed with myself for not fulfilling my entire contract to post a dozen articles to one of my clients this month. Each article is worth $200 or more and I am desperate for money. Taking a week off last month surely affect that, but I haven't ever gotten the full dozen done in several months of trying. Well, maybe next month...

Journey 9:30

Back at work after a week of vacation.   The good news is that I have a loaner laptop to use until mine is fixed - it died over the weekend.   I think maybe it was God's way of telling me not to work on vacation.   I logged in to do some work, and it shut down.  When I tried to restart it, it started smoking!

I've been at work for an hour or so but I've been dealing with the laptop issues.  Now I'm going to do my todo list and get started.   The first item on the agenda will be to catch up on email.    I have over 400 emails to get through.

Have a good day y'all.   I'll check back about lunchtime to report on progress.

Update 1:30 pm I have my laptop back!  Or at least one exactly like it with my old hard drive in it.   The hard drive was fine but the motherboard was fried so they just traded with me.

I have completed 4 of 7 MITs for the day, and two of them are personal/financial and have to be done after work so that means ONE MORE work MIT.   I will work on that project for a couple of hours, then spent the last hour or so doing some lower priority items.

UPDATE 4 pm - MIT #5 progress, figured out what needs to be done to bring up patched lab system in the "real" test system.  Now I'll build the config and directory and then stop on this project for today.

Update 4:45 MIT #5 done!  Now I'll do some lower priority tasks until 5:30, then leave for the day.  On the way home I need to stop at the bank and the credit union, those are my personal MITs.

Now:  Monthly goals, update calendar, db exercise.  Do as much as I can before 5:30 but don't stay late.

Price to be paid

Didn't finish everything I had hoped Monday, but made solid progress. Stayed too late at work, until after 10 PM, didn't get to bed until 11:30 PM. As a result of no real down time this past weekend and not enough rest, I am starting this mercifully shortened work week sleepy and a litle down; for me, these often go together. But I need to get cracking if I want to make inroads into breaking the mold of so many weeks before. I do need to finsih the financial paperwork, so I need to create time for that today. One really minor but potentially helpful change today was eating breakfast before coming to work. It's nice to eat breakfast in the company dining room, but it takes time out of the day for me, just when I should be trying to get traction.

Goal 1: Work through the morning in 30 minute increments, starting with an old "millstone" case that I am finally close to finishing after a little push yesterday.

Goal 2: Break for lunch

Goal 3: Work through the afternoon in 30 minute increments.

Goal 4: Get enough done to leave comfortably at 6 PM. (!!!)

Goal 5: Break for dinner.

Goal 6: Work 2 hours in 30 minute increments on financial paperwork and try to finsih it entirely. There will surely be questions and requests for documentation, so I might as well get the basics done. I hate this.

Goal 7: To bed by 10 PM.

Back to report.

It's frustrating to be so slow at everything.

Up prayer reflection
Bath and washed hair
Check shopping list
Checked emails

Todo:
Go out to buy a very few bits that I probably don't need anyway
Sort out on line booking of seat etc

Todo:
Tidy up a few posts here and elsewhere
Prayer and reflection
Bed and sleep

(Rex)

I once heard someone say instead of using the word "anxious" use the word "excited" to help relax.

Best kind of trips are the one to the back of no where! Enjoy!

Thank you vic

Thank you vic I shall try to be excited. This trip is not to the back end of nowhere but to a civilized place where I meet my brother and his family. I don't do civilized.

(Rexroth - have a great holiday!)

Hope it is really enjoyable!

Thank you findingaway

Thank you findingaway I shall do my best. Eating drinking relaxing in the sun. It will be hell.

Have a nice trip Rex!
