Today I finalised some overdue projects, made the calls, sent the emails - feeling a lot of relief.
For those who took a kind interest, my husband and I are getting back together too! Well, it has been happening for a while, although we will (wisely) continue to have counselling.
Great to notice I have some good things to share about my life.:)
Now need to focus on some smaller but urgent tasks, and do some planning!
Having a really difficult time today. Feel lost and floating. I'm afraid that I'm letting my recently flaring health issues consume me and surrendering to the mental and physical tiredness that it brings on.
I have so many personal and work issues hanging out there and my decisionmaking abilities seem to be completely lacking.
Sorry for my whining. I need to realize that, in this condition, I will never 'feel' like doing what needs to be done. I just need to do it anyway. However, my defensive tactic of not making a decision of what needs to be done is kicking in hard. Need to just pick a spot and start working. Don't worry about whether it's important or not, just that I'm working on a work related task...
Accidentally posted a reply as an originating post :-) Have put it in the correct place now.
Didn't get to check in yesterday - or do my work or review my presentation slides/notes for today . . . Too busy net surfing the Virgin Islands :-) Vacation dreaming for next January :-)
I did swim last night (3/4 km again). Lovely!
The presentation went fine (not great, but fine is, well, fine!).
Today:
- walking home
- figuring out layout for hanging framed photos in tv room
- physio (moving the time up to after dinner - before bed is NOT working at all)
I left everything (almost everything) in Japan and am back in the US. I just want to watch the news, but really, there is not much I can do. I still need to work on my thesis, and I brought my PC with me, so I should be able to do work on it.
So for today
1. Get refund for unused airline ticket.
2. Cancel doctor's appointment in Japan (must do in evening)
Whew! So glad you are safely back in the states! I have been thinking of you ever since I heard about the quake in Japan. I was worried, since I hadn't seen you around PA lately, but I guess I haven't been here as much lately either. Glad you're ok!
Not a good start today! I got to the gym at 6:45 which was earlier that yesterday, but traffic was horrid so I was late to work. I'll continue working on getting to the gym earlier - I want to get there by 6:15.
I feel kind of weird - I guess getting used to the time change and not having my daughter at home is messing up my sleep schedule. I went to bed early last night but I woke up many times during the night. I feel more energetic than I did yesterday though, yesterday was tough. I got a reasonable amount of work done though, and I can do the same today.

The difficulty in life is the choice. —George Moore
How we choose to spend our time says much about what is important to us. If
we have no goals, we may try to kill time. If we have too many goals,
there may not be enough time in the day to do all we set out to do. We
must make some choices based on our values. We may need to take more
time for some things, and let go of others. For example, this year will
we try to learn to play the guitar? Perhaps we have finally decided to
drop out of that club which seems to have little purpose. Will we give
more time to work, or less time? With each of these choices, we shape
our lives. We can do it with the touch of an artist if we pay attention
to the choices we are making.
What is truly important to me today?
From oday's Gift: Daily Meditations for Families
MY BASICS: checking in; support calls(1x); affirmations; gratitudes; reading; check calendar AM; check calendar PM; write down my 6 most important tasks; voicemail; exercise; manage A; manage D; use "tracking time"/master list; use timer
Affirmations (said aloud as well):
I choose to show up and start my top 6 tasks, 15 to 30 minutes at a time.
I set my mind to my top 6 tasks and I complete them -- in 15 to 30 minute periods.
Thanks again for the daily meditations (oops - originally typoed: medications!). This one really speaks to me as well. Last couple of years I have felt overloaded. I am trying to tweak/refine this year - Slightly rearrange priorities, and also organize my time to better reflect my goals and not "fritter" so much time away.
I have used the excuse that I'm so busy with work and class that I need time to just do nothing. But that's not really benefiting me any. What I really need is to use that time for effective and beneficial relaxation (gentle yoga, swimming, meditation, a leisurely bath, kayaking, pleasure reading, creative writing etc.).
Yesterday was a pretty good day. Thanks for the props, 11th_hour. I got all but one task accomplished, including evening activities, which is unusual. I tend to collapse about 6 p.m. and sit in a chair reading and watching TV until bedtime. But I had no actual chores on my list last night, just going to an open mic, which I did do. Another busy one today...
