Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
The Prodigal Son "took his journey into a far country and wasted his
substance with riotous living." That's what we procrastinators do. We waste
our substance with riotous living. "When he came to himself, he said, 'I
will arise and go to my father.'" That's what you do in P.A. You come
to your self. Your procrastinating self is not your real self. Your sane,
non-procrastinating, respectable self is your real self. That's why we procrastinators are
so happy in P.A. Have I come to myself?
Meditation for the Day
Simplicity is the keynote of a good life. Choose the simple things always. Life
can become complicated if you let it be so. You can be swamped by
difficulties if you let them take up too much of your time. Every
difficulty can be either solved or ignored and some thing better
substituted for it. Love the humble things of life. Reverence the simple
things. Your standard must never be the world's standard of wealth and
power.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may love the simple things of life. I pray that I may keep my life uncomplicated and free.
From Twenty-Four Hours a Day
MY BASICS: checking in;support callss(1x); affirmations; gratitudes; reading; check calendar AM; check calendar PM; email my 6 most important tasks; voicemail; exercise (run at track during kid's soccer practice at 12 pm); manage A; manage D; use "tracking time"/unschedule worksheets and timer; use timer
Affirmations (said aloud as well):
I choose to show up and start my projects, 15 to 30 minutes at a time.
I set my mind to things and I complete them -- in 15 to 30 minute periods.
We have an online meeting today at 7:30 GMT or 2:30 p.m. New York Time! Today is the last day that we start at 2:30 p.m. New York Time. Tomorrow starts Daylight Savings Time in North America. Starting tomorrow, the online meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. New York Time.
If I do nothing else today, I MUST find my receipts for 2010 FSA claim!
I wish you all a blessed day!
I DID IT... I found all my receipts to get my money reimbursed from the Flex Spending Account! I couldn't believe that I accomplished this in 1 1/2 hours!
I had a great day! I didn't set the alarm (7:00 am) last night because I usually sleep in late on Saturday until at least 9:00. But now out of habit, I woke up early and jumped out of bed at 7:15 am to start my day!
I had ONE goal today, and knowing me I was going to spend the entire day hating myself to find all my scattered receipts. And I would do "anything" but what I needed to do today!
Hopped out of bed at 7:15
Made the bed
Scrubbed both toilets before they needed it
Emptied both wastebaskets and replaced liner
Threw away EXPIRED salad and bread in fridge
Took out trash AND recycle plastics & newspapers
WALKED to grocery store to buy coffee and bananas
Avoided checkout line that has my Peanut M&Ms
Drank full glass of milk w/breakfast
Checked email to ensure I have a substitute
Sent thank you to person who volunteered
Turned on icemaker (bucket near empty)
Began again taking multivitamin and fish oil tabs Searched for and FOUND all 2010 FSA receipts (11am to 12:30) Picked up phone when I heard "L" leaving another message!!!
Called J back
Ate healthy lunch
Attended and participated in 1st online PA meeting
Went for a WALK, took long way to grocery store
Bought shrimp, salad, and fruit for dinner
Took out the trash, again
Drank lots of water today
Picked up the phone to talk with G and hear about pajama dance
Continued to read "The War of Art"
Read from "The WORD among us"
"Jesus, I come to you now and ask you to free me from all bitterness and all anxiety. Lord, I trust in your mercy, your love, and your power to heal."
I thought things were going pretty well. Most reports done, even got myself to the dentist....but, I put off paying a silly little speeding fine. It was in another state, and I figured I'd get to it before I returned there....Well, Friday my license was suspended in my state, in addition to the other state because of it. I know it isn't the end of the world, but I am supposed to be a parent and a professional (not to mention I need to drive a whole lot for my job)-I should be more responsible. Instead of paying $90 something, I will be paying restoration fines in both states, and expiditing fees, so now in addition to dealing with no license, I will pay $300 for that silly little fine-suddenly not so silly.
On a positive note- I gave notice (again) that I will no longer work with 1 of my clients who has been very difficult. This time I made it clear that I will not return after this week.
So, now I need to open my eyes to some things that I have been avoiding that are priority- taxes being first on the list. Today will be a digging out day. I will spend today organizing and fixing everything possible...my penance and my next step in the right direction
Today I will spend my time:
1. Cleaning/organizing house and office 4 hrs 1hr 40 min left:)
2. Org papers/ files 3 hrs ****AB!! ...2hrs good enough!
3. fixing up computer files and updating computer software 2 hrs.
4. return calls 1 hr
5. work on master to do list- not sure how long but at least 20 min

This morning I taught I class on "Theology of movies" which went really well. So, yay! (Was a little worried it was going to be a disaster...)
For today, I have a *lot* of work. I've gotten a little behind.
For web-crawling project: I need to get cell at least half-done and finish JAMA
For chores: I need to do laundry and financial stuff
For church: I need to pray and to take care of deacon stuff (deacon contacts, notes, get paper)
For lab: I need to read 2 papers and do counts and order primersand check on/plan expts
For myself: I need to exercise and spend time with friends
If I don't get through all this, that's OK. I'll just do the best I can.

My main goal for today is to, this morning, spend 45 minutes organizing tax papers and enter profile into online filing system.
Then I'm going to spend a beautiful day hanging out with the family!
I wish all the best today and much forward progress and lots of 'little starts' that lead to big progress!
