  Show up (done)

Today I will use Ian's quote from yesterday:

"Important notice: Any voice speaking to you unkindly is not worth listening to."

esp. the one in my head.!!Thanks for being here , and I will try to continue the one I used yesterday

"Breathe in YES. Breathe out THANK YOU. Repeat." it really helped when I remembered to do it.

Feeling a little better today about working full time.  Kiddo said he had fun at the after school program which is relieving. This should be a reminder to me that things are rarely as bad as I make them out to be.

Goals for today:

-Make some forward progress on big project

I'll work in 30 minute microbursts for a total of 2 hours and then reassess where I'm at.  Putting on some good tunes now and pulling up my timer app.

"Do not wait to strike until the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking." - William B. Sprague

UPDATE: I've been very productive and on task this morning, but it's mostly been handling the immediate tasks that must be done at the moment (i.e. tech support, billing, etc.).  I still haven't tackled the BIG project.  But then my boss just came in an put off our discussion of it because he's swamped, so that gives me a little more time. The benefit of working a full day is that I'll have a couple of extra hours this afternoon to make progress.

I believe that my hormones play a big part in many of my procrastinating behaviors - not that this is really a break through thought. But it's astounding the difference in how I percieve things when hormone levels are wonky. Sometimes it's a night and day difference. I always manage to forget this simple thought, though, each month.

Finishing up a stack of items that must be done and then I'm onto some microbursts.

hope4meandu checkin (10:25AM)

Well, procrastinating at home cleaning is back in abundance, turning over my powerlessness, seems I only want to do the bear minimum. Today at work I just want to focus on getting scheduled payments from my old bank to my new bank and possibly closing out old bank account. Also, approach having guests differently. Instead of cleaning, etc. first, I'll try looking for good recipes, maybe that will get me motivated more, worth a try anyway.

Positives, I did work out this a.m. (YAY) and I am doing really good at work.

-close out bank account
-move Net & Yoffee's insurance to new bank acct
-find out balance on credit card
-clean refrigerator OR
-clean kitchen, dr & lr floors
-get recipes
-clean birdcage
-call Ell re: Wed
-call J.L. re: Thurs

Good morning PAers and I'm glad you are here with me in our 'journey' towards increased productivity!

I was up at 5:20 this morning and at the gym at 6:30 (my goal is 6:15).   I was in the office on time, read email and checked calender, goofed off just a little, and now I'm making my todo list for the day.   Laters!

Journey 2 pm & update

All my work tasks today are the not-fun kind.   I dragged my feet getting some documentation done this morning but I finally finished it.   Now I'm going to do some financial stuff for my Toastmasters club yuck, then I have to lead a meeting to discuss the not-fun documentation.    I am not setting the world on fire today but I am getting my work done, although a little slower than would be optimal

Bookending the financial task.

UPDATE 4 pm.  Done, and DONE.   I am FINISHED WITH ALL MY WORK FOR TODAY.   Wow, I can count on my fingers the number of times I've been able to say that!   I will work on my goals and projects list for 2011 for half an hour, then go home early!

tracy-la thursday

Good morning,

Have a deadline and am up early to get to the office by 6 a.m.

I tried to go to bed early but tossed and turned worrying about this -- wonder if I should have just stayed and gotten it finished last night. I felt tired so decided sleep would be better but then couldn't sleep.

Basics:

Reading for day (substitued procrastinating for drinking):

Refraining froom compulsive procrastinating is the most important thing in my life. The most important
decision I ever made was my decision to give up compulsive procrastinating. I am convinced
that my whole life depends on not procrastinating on that first action. Nothing in
the world is as important to me as my own freedom from compulsive procrastination. Everything I have,
my whole life, depends on that one thing. Can I afford ever to forget
this, even for one minute?

Meditation for the Day

I
will discipline myself. I will do this disciplining now. I will turn
out all useless thoughts. I know that the goodness of my life is a
necessary foundation for its usefulness. I will welcome this training,
for without it, God cannot give me His power. I believe that this power
is a mighty power when it is used in the right way.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may face and accept whatever discipline is necessary. I pray that I may be fit to receive God's power in my life.
