 Do you need a task buddy for making your life more worthwhile? Do you wish  want to

  1. Wake up early in the morning ?
  2. Set up and follow a exercise routine ?
  3. Plan out your routine tasks (paying bills, servicing the car etc.) and do it on time ?
  4. Take up a new hobby or rekindle a old one ?
  5. Improve your communication skills ?

I tried to walk the path alone but could not keep it going! And then I came to this wonderful site.

Please, Please join me! We could create an action plan  and together we could push each other to make our life

Unintentional wake up!

Got up very early (around 5 AM I think) . Seems had set the alarm too early.

A bad day

Turned off alarm at 5.55 AM and got up at 7.20 AM

The last and the longest yard!

11.3 wake up

7:45am.  ideally, would love to get up at 7am.  only thing is that i like to get up in quiet and bathroom is being used at that time... lots of commotion.

7:45pm.  started responding to emails pretty much right away.  feel pretty awake now.

Got up but want to flop back to sleep!

Got up at 7:45am today.  But I am super tired.  Despite no coffee in afternoon, I was woken up during the night by snoring hubby, then trip to loo... couldn't fall back to sleep afterwards.  Toss and turned.  Completely exhausted now. 

Did part of morning routine, but don't feel myself waking up. 

Okay, i did flop back to sleep for another hour.  When i woke up, I felt much better.  Returned phone calls, emails, studied and then had lunch/ran errands. 

Now, I'm settling into some admin related work.

Starting time

woke up at 7:45am.  not bad.  feeling good about having a morning routine.  skipped 4pm decaf during day and was able to sleep through the night.  also drank minimal water during dinner (had lots to drink earlier in the day).  thus no night time wake up.

Start Time

Got up today at 7:30am.  Headache this morning.  Still having trouble falling asleep at night.  Wondering if I need to take mint tea at 4pm instead of decaf coffee. 

Took an hour to do morning routine which included some light tidying up tasks, email check, light news reading/tv and breakfast- all of which woke me up a bit.  Then transitioned into some study work. 

Would love to continue this tomorrow.  Morning routine.  Reasonable wake up time.  One day at a time.

Not so early start

Got up at 8:30am.  I think I'm going to have to adjust bit by bit.  Almost like having jet lag.  Had trouble falling asleep.  Restless night and woke up several times.

Took an hour after wake-up to get going on tasks. 

Aim to wake up a bit earlier tomorrow.

Snoozed for 25 minutes today - but then was completely up and ready to go and got out of the house on time. Will try minimise snooze time tomorrow.

Just read the thread here.  I have having trouble getting up in the mornings too.  Would love to get up at a reasonable hour as well.

Hit a bump!

Today for the first time since I started on the road towards my goals, I have hit a bump. I have got an indigestion problem, perhaps acidity. I have taken medications but not much relief. Seems need to make a halt, period.

Yesterday was a bad day. I could not do anything due to my stomach problem.

The loo and waking up early!

Sometimes I am thirsty before going to sleep and drink water. Then loo calls me in the middle of the night which means I sleep in two halfs. I think this may be one of the cause of not being able to get up early. However since I am human, I cannot control when I am thirsty. I also cannot time drinking water such that at the last minute of going to sleep, I am done with the loo. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

My thought is that you must be a) young b) male and c) childless to think that this is a problem.   :grin:  But I'm teasing you, and you asked a serious question.   I don't have any answers for you though.   I usually get up once during the night but I fall right back to sleep.

You are right about a), b) and c). I also understand what you mean by c). Even though teasingly, you have shown me what could have been worse. I think this should now no longer be an issue for me.

my trick for getting up early

Thought I might share something that has helped me get up at 5am regularly for the past 3 weeks. To give some background, I'm definitely not a natural early riser. In fact I've literally had my alarm set for years at an hour or more before the time I actually get up, with the best intentions of doing so.  The alarm is even across the room and I have to hit snooze every 9 minutes for sometimes going on hours.  When I think of the amount of time I could have been resting peacefully during those many years I cringe.

Just recently I came upon something that has worked for me. Instead of setting my bedroom alarm,  I set my phone alarm to go off and put the phone by the coffee maker in the kitchen.  I generally rush out of bed to shut it off b/c I don't want to wake up others in the house. Then I start making coffee. I bribed myself with really good quality coffe for a week or so, but now the plain old stuff works too.  The act of making the coffee and the promise of drinking a cup is enough to push me past that wierd rationalization that occurs right after waking up. 

I also though of puting a slip of paper with a t-chart with the costs/benefits of staying awake at the coffee pot, but haven't had to resort to that yet.  I don't set the alarm in the bedroom at all so I'm not tempted to crawl back in bed and wait for it to go off at a later time. I have no 'safety net' so-to-speak.  My mantra is 'don't lay down' over and over.  It also helps to have a specific task or list of tasks written down to get started on so you don't have to plan when you're brain is not at it's peak.

My next challenge is to get myself to do exercise at this hour... haven't found a solution to that yet...

I used to even have a coffeemaker with timer built-in, and prepared it the night before - coffee would start brewing, I would smell it...

But anyway congrats on finding a solution.
