Sunday 17th September

not a criticism

It wasn't directed just at you. A specific reference to "Mother Mary" might alienate people, too. Religion is one of those topics that can get people very fired up. A mention of prayer is general enough that it's unlikely to rub anyone the wrong way, but references to specific religious symbols might. I just want to avoid conflict.

first Book End

Hope I'm doing this right, you folks have such long lists!!!
I only want to get some work in today on my writing project.
I was working on it frantically before vacation (21/8) but haven't touched it since I'm back (5/9). Caught up in beginning of the year stuff. Really procrastinating.
It was supposed to be "first thing in the morning", but it is now 8:40 pm here (GMT+3) and I just want to put a total of two hours in:
*inventoring and seeing where I am
*collect my material for the next section
*write a page or so...
how does it sound?
LS

progress

just getting the hung of it, wow! I can't believe the time
and wow! just logged on to see you warm welcomes, thank you
:-)

so far:
*inventoring and seeing where I am DONE
*collect material IN PROGRESS
*no writing yet
a total of 1/2 hour. need to keep better track of time though....
thanks all, I will check back before I stop.

You've got the hang of it already!

If you want your post to appear at the top just reply to the very first post from this morning (the one at the very top that says 'Sunday'). We tend to keep the most recent Bookend at the top, with comments on other people's bookends as replies to the relevant post. It just helps us to see the most recent, so we can cheer each other on.

thanks :-)

thanks for the tip Normy.

cool animations

Welcome LittleSister! There is a collection of graphics - many animated - for you to use in your messages here. Look to your left - see the link in the Site Content box under "Forums"?

Normy has her own vast collection, but many of us use the one on this site, which I'm always adding to.

Welcome LittleSister!

You're doing this just fine. The length of the lists doesn't matter - the main thing for most of us is making it realistic (as you've noticed, we can be very ambitious sometimes - not always a good thing with lists!).

You can check in after each item, every Top Of The Hour (TOTH - something o'clock), every Bottom Of The Hour (BOTH - half past something o'clock), at the end of the list (if you're focused!), or just whenever you feel like it. It'll be great to hear how you got on.

Sounds good, actually.

Sounds very good, actually.

Good attitude.

Student in Athens, greece? Beautiful town.

Hi!

Sounds great, Little Sister! And welcome! Start wherever you need to, big or small.

We'll look for your closing bookend in a couple of hours.

I don't procrastinate on house cleaning, and Sunday is my day to do it, so don't be too impressed! :)

I checked the shortest route to SoHo on the map of New York on my PDA. Leaving now...

looks like a good day so far.

Have fun shopping! 8)

Thought I wouldnt need checkins or bookending today. WRONG. Got up at 8am, 2 hours late. Its now almost 9am. Where did the time go? OK, we'll try to get SOMETHING going.

More to follow.

PS to Milo: I know its unusual for a Yank to be "chagrined," but I thought using the word would make me look more multicultural and inclusive.

I'm thinking I don't want to go to the 1pm meeting. I want to go to SoHo early and then have time to go on a bike ride.

I forgot that the cleaner I was using to clean the bathroom sink and tub had bleach in it, and I ruined my shorts by leaning against the damp sink while cleaning the tub. :(

The shorts were too big anyway. When I go down to SoHo, I'll try to buy some new ones - ones that fit, this time. It's late in the season to buy shorts, but maybe I'll find some on sale.

Shorts

Sorry to hear about the shorts getting bleached - now we've both got our 'mishap for the day' behind us!

How come SoHo has a capital 'H' in the middle? We've got a Soho as well (in London), but it's only capital letter is the 'S'.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

SoHo

SoHo in New York is an abbreviation for "South of Houston (Street)". Is it an abbreviation in London?

I don't think so

I think it's just the name of the district, like 'Islington' and 'Westminster'.

Norm 2.30 pm BE

Skip this bit if you like - I just need to get it out of my system...

{rant}
What a waste of time. I was upstairs CUOP/BE and DSO was downstairs shredding. Then I smelt burned apples... ran downstairs and he was sitting in a cloud of smoke ignoring the apples burning on the stove. So I took the pan outside and put it on something high up so DDog wouldn't burn herself, and he wasn't happy with where I put it and picked it up and stood there with it until I found something to stand it on, getting covered in garden muck as I did. Next up - he dumped the shredded paper in the bin - we recycle shredded paper and he knows it (take it to the animal shelter for bedding). He said 'there was too much' so I said, 'so put it in the compost' so he said 'nah!' So I went and got the shredded paper out of the bin and put it in the compost, and he was saying 'leave it! I'll do that!' (But he'd just said he wouldn't! Grrr). Anyway, he's now just apologised and said he hadn't smelt it (or seen the SMOKE???!!!). The house stinks now, and all the effort picking, peeling, and coring the apples was wasted (I wouldn't have minded so much if I'd enjoyed it, but it was deeply boring at the time).
{/rant}

So the only thing I've actually achieved since my last check in is to get work and workout clothes ready for next week. Very...slow....progress.... :(

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

((((Normy))))

Sounds massively frustrating. Just the burned apples would have driven me crazy.

Maybe now would be a good time to run around the block or do some other kind of vigorous exercise to work out frustration and avoid knocking DSO's teeth out. 8)

LOL

Tnaks pro. I escaped by taking a half hour nap. Some days this kind of stuff wouldn't bother me, or I'd laugh at it, but I'm feeling somewhat overwhelmed just lately and I'm letting things get to me.

Hmm, now I'm sure there's something I need to remind myself about - oh yeah!...

exercise

Can I count walking to SoHo and back as exercise? It's a couple miles each way.

I walk a lot - all over the city. But I don't think of it as exercise - just lifestyle and/or foot transportation.

migraines

Often when I get migraines I wake up with them. Part of the problem is that I tend to clench my teeth at night. (That's one of many migraine triggers.) I have a dental device I wear at night to reduce the pressure from the clenching - protecting my teeth and minimizing the headaches. (It's called NTI-tss, if anyone is interested.)

My rescue meds get rid of the migraines 90% of the time - I just have to take them soon enough. Sometimes I try to convince myself it's going away on its own, delay taking the meds, then suffer all day.

Cool.

Good thing it went away! You can start your day normally now :)

I'm off to bed, myself - have a great day!!!!!!

Sleep tight Milo

Useless information: The phrase comes from when mattresses were tied down with string - tightening them made the bed more comfortable.

that's interesting!

I like trivia like that. Never heard this one.

good night, Milo!

Hi Normy

Of COURSE the dog walk is exercise! If it were me, I'd be crossing it off tomorrow's, too, because it was a whole hour }:)

DDog walking

It's not exactly cardiovascular because she's got arthritis now, and has slowed down - last year she could still come out on a run with me :(

She gets an hour twice a week, and the rest of the week she gets half an hour a day. Any more than that nowadays and the poor little thing gets knackered.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Normy's first BE 10.15 am

I'm currently resisting Demand Resistance! I got up early and wanted to get MR done and start DR, but DSO was still in bed, and wanted to have a bath before DDog, so I couldn't get that done and had to wait for him to get ready. So whilst I was waiting I decided to CUOP, and DSO said he wanted to come on the walk with us. Now, ~he's~ ready and I'm not (still CUOP/posting), and he keeps coming in and frowning and looking at me - finally he said 'when are you going to be ready?', and I snapped back that ~he~ wasn't ready when I wanted to go, and I waited, so he could just wait for me now. Not a helpful response, but I do so hate injustice!
