 Show up (done)

Grateuful for this site, I do not want to look yet, but I know my 1 year anniversary of showing up back to back (eiither here or with calls)  is coming up- what a miracle. I heard the fox and the hedgehog story yesterday: "the fox is a cunning creature, able to devise a myriad of strategies for sneak attacks upon the hedgehog...Fast, sleek, beautiful, fleet of foot, and crafty - the fox looks like the sure winner. The hedgehog on the other hand, is a dowdier creature...He waddles along, going about his simple day, searching for lunch and taking care of his home...(but) despite the greater cunning of the fox, the hedgehog always wins."

Wow ((Vic)) congrats on one year!!

-schedule time with S about S
-go to CVS, GG, bank & variety
-make up food list for tomorrow
-should I get Yoffee's supplements even though I'm not sure I have the $
-order Yoffee nail clippers and brush (don't know if I have the $)
-write up food list
-call Berman's and/or call their home - r they coming Saturday?
-go to GG to apply for evening job - UGH

I need to find a way to broach the following subject with my boss, that I'm looking for other work because I'm not making it here, if that happens. I'm hoping it won't but I have to have the conversation.

Tonight's cleaning:
-wash kitchen, dining room & living room floors

Without all of you, don't where I'd be...((HUGS))

  • dentist (went there but they're closed till mid-July) :(
  • collect laundry DONE (have to go there again b/c they didn't do it right) :(
  • buy m for p DONE
  • call S (called twice but no one answered) :(
  • shopping DONE Smile
  • cook postponed to tomorrow
  • go running for 30min DONE Smile (whoohoo! 2nd time this week.)

i feel i need to live a healthier life, especially after the last couple of months which were just horrible (i'm not sure if they appear less horrible in retrospective or even more so). so i've decided that i need to reduce my computer time to max 3 hrs a day and do some sports at least twice a week until i'm in good enough shape to join a club again. and start eating more healthy food. so i'm going to go running again today and will cook.

Journey 7:30

Ugh, feeling pretty low today, perhaps I overdid it yesterday.  I was quite convinced I was well yesterday as I was feeling hungry and more energetic.   I had planned on driving myself to work today but I pretty much crashed after a quick run to the grocery store last night, so I asked hubby to drive me in again today.   I'm feeling frustrated and ready to be fully recovered.   That's probably a sign of recovery too, but it's awfully slow!

Dear HP, thank you for the character building experience of this illness.   However, I feel I have built all the character I care to build for now and I'd appreciate it if we could step it up on the healing process now, ok?   Love, Jo.

Going for coffee, then I'll be back with an easy-does-it todo list for today.

Jo

Journey 8:15

Todo List for today:

  • Project V - initialize - 1 hour
  • C Meeting - 1 hou
  • added:  patch requested
  • added - Project V - work on Q install - 2 hours (takes priority over D)
  • O Meeting - 1 hour
  • Project V - D prep - 2 hours - postponed
  • Project V - P2 - 1 hour -
  • Project V - fix minor problem A - 30 minutes
  • Project Z - work on dates - 1 hour
  • Project Z - reading -1 hour  - postponed
  • Take Vitamins - 5 minutes
  • Filing - 5 minutes
  • Quiet Time - 15 minutes
  • Start July Budget - 15 minutes
  • Stop by CU on the way home - 10 minutes
  •  Pick up dinner on the way home and do nothing but REST this evening grrr.

3:30  Ack, priorities keep changing between Q and D, with the result that I freaked out and did nothing for about an hour there, but got back on track.   Still working on Q for about a half hour, then that will be all I can do for the day on that, and then I'll go back to the todo list for the rest of the day.   I did ok when my schedule got thrown out the window and I had to readjust once, but when it happened the second time, I freaked.   I'm over it now though:rolleyes:

fudoshin: 3:10am checkin

Please do not leave advice.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

Procrastination is NOT passive self-destruction; it is active self-destruction and other people are only going to treat me as badly as I treat myself.

That's something to think about the next time I consider waiting to brush my teeth until the next morning.  If I want people (even significant others) to respect me, I need to respect myself.

fudoshin: 3:03am checkin

Please do not leave advice.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

I'm at this point where I would like to organize my "to do list" so that I can think clearly and not avoid highly important tasks by engaging in diurnal ones.  So I am promising that I will work on the first one first before anything else (besides breakfast and teeth brushing):

  • I need to find another poem to write about for my second essay.
  • I need to write an essay about these two poems.
  • I need to  either find an action poem, if we're allowed to talk about dequincey or... read all those longer works and "discuss" those.

I am committing to not leaving my computer, until I at least finish the first essay.  It does not need to be perfect.  It doesn't need to be the version I turn in.  I just have to touch on all the points of the poems.  One thing at a time, no writing long lists of changes in life I want to make, one thing at a time.

Allegro Check In 1/7

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing in these check-ins. I kinda feel that my lists are too restrictive and prescriptive. As a result, lately I find myself resisting doing the tasks at all.

Might just try keeping it simple:

- Follow up ski trip booking

- Cook dinners

- Do as many ops as possible

- Clean up stuff off bedroom floor

- Send links to J

- Discuss Ts with J and if required, send form

- Get J's games

Let's just try this much so far

agreement/empathy/being scared

As G-A said above, I don't think the lists and check-ins in and of themselves are "doing it" for me....maybe I need to keep pluggin away being new to check-ins (Though I have been familiar with "lists" and "lists OF lists" for some decades now)

Witness my June 30th check-out......the "paralysis and endless emotions" attached to an unsealed envelope is getting me significantly down. I don't even care about feeling UP. I just want to do them.

re: todo lists not working?

Hey, guys, if your list is overwhelming and causing you to shut down, try "bookending"  just one activity at a time in the forums or in chat.   For instance, post:   I'm going to make that dreaded phone call now.    Then come back and report your success (or failure as the case may be, that's ok too).  Get sympathy/encouragement/congratulations from the board, and then go back and do it again!

Thanks for the suggestion Journey!

Thanks for suggesting a way of changing tactics Journey! Yes will definitely go back to giving the chatbox a go - as the pressure of having to complete what I'd said I'd complete at check-in has been really getting to me. I can sense that I am slowly sabotaging myself day to day.

I'll go back to small bites and slowly work back up to checking in, perhaps in a more simplified, sporadic manner when I actually need to get everything on my list done in a day. Let's see where the wind takes me!
