The first step towards improvement does not have to be big.
Small steps - even tiny ones - always lead onward.
What is the smallest step you can take today to move a project forward?

Helen's checkin

It is 4pm and I am checking in.

I have started my volunteer teaching and I like my new student so that all went well :) It has given me a confidence boost.

I didn't get a haircut because when I got there  I remembered I had left the window open for the cat and rushed home to check but it's OK I will do it tomorrow

Now I am going up to town to be social. This is the first time for ages. I isolate myself and have few friends. I procrastinate about being social with real live people (still like my internet chums though) but I am going to make the effort. I shall think Hero's code! Really need to get out more and so tonight is the night!

Evening out

I had a great evening. It was a really well organised social event and I mingled with confidence. I had several very interesting conversations with different people and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Smile

go Helen!

Be safe and have a great time on the town tonight!

Journey 9:15

Working from home today, yesterday was a pretty good day.

I've been to the gym, stopped by the store, and made a healthy breakfast (homemade egg mcmuffins!).   I've read email and checked my calendar.   Now I'm going to change clothes, grab a cuppa and try to have the rest of the day planned out before my 10 am meeting.

Have an enjoyable and productive day!

GeorgeSmiley, 4/20/10, 7:18 AM

Good morning.

Always for me the big challenge is to defer the distracting activities. This was very successful yesterday: I put blocks of time in the middle and end of my day for these, and I stuck with my work knowing I'd still get to have "fun" surfing, etc. in a limited time period.

Taking things one day at a time, I'm going to keep practicing that habit.

Today's MITs

1) PB: Must finish

2) MR: Must move ahead on

3) PQA: Must move ahead on

4) RM: Today's quota of pages

e's ci

Good morning all and thank you for the reminder that recovery comes through choosing to take small steps in the right direction.

Today I would like to choose to do the following:
morning routine: meds, breakfast, shower, dress to shoes, make bed, laundry, dishes, plan meal for evening, straighten space.
phone bookend at 10:30, 12:30 and 5:30
taxes: sort through the remainder of receipts or at least 2 fifteen minute segments
Spend an hour on writing for V and on putting together hours
Amend to A
Get to work on time at 1PM.
I choose to read flylady email today to help me get and stay on task and to use the chatbox productively. I choose to limit my times on facebook to two times of no more than a half an hour each: one this morning once my morning routine is accomplished, the other this evening after the supper dishes are done.

Have a productive day everyone!

e's april 20th check out

It was a very good today, mainly because I used the phone meeting and phone checkins and bookends throughout the day. What a good feeling it is to hear the voices of fellow chronic procrastinators.

I stayed on task for most of the day and while I did not accomplish all that I had wanted, I did well, especially for having a work day and feel like I have the opportunity to go to bed prepared for tomorrow. To that end I would like to: drink water, brush my teeth, check the weather for tomorrow and choose clothing and wash my face, finish the last few dishes and set my alarm. Then I will give myself one episode of an indulgent television show, read and then turn off the light between 11 and 11:30.

I have errands to do tomorrow including getting to the post office for work, figuring my hours, picking up potatoes for the stewed green beans dish and getting some vitamins from the doctors.

A good day.

g'night and pleasant dreams - e

small steps

The small steps reminder is appropriate for me today as I have many little tasks to manage.  These are all the sort of things that only take 15 minutes or so to do, but they make me feel like my life is totally out of control and overwhelming and lead me to put off doing them.  Yup, I know that's a little nuts.

work DONE

water plants DONE

get gas DONE

soak chick peas for tomorrow DONE

exercise routine

SL - Collins

G - begin 2

hibiscus

scrape one slab

int bill DONE

register for races DONE

buy fest tickets DONE

file ins claim DONE

email Sh and S DONE

get clothes, breakfast, paperwork ready for tomorrow  DONE

UPDATE/RANT

You know what, scratch that.  It's NOT nutty.  The fact is that whenever a task involves banks or insurance companies, everything goes all wrong and I end up spending hours sorting out things that should only take fifteen minutes.  This happens to me time and time again and it is the reason I procrastinate when I have bureaucracy to deal with.  So it is 8 oclock now and I've only just finished the things I expected to take just a few minutes.

Sometimes it feels like life is just one maintenance task after another.

Agnus 7:20am

Aww, cutie-pie thread starter, strike, thanks!  I am doing ok, lots of billable work so I can get most of my bills paid up by June 1, and have money for vacation, if I will stay focused now. But I can't do it alone - I need my Higher Power and you guys. Glad we are all in this together.  Today's plan:
