It's a holiday here (patriot's day), so a little more relaxed than normal, and I'm a bit late getting to lab.

I've already had prayer time and checked on 1 expt.

The main tasks for  today are teaching related:
*Finish exam answer key
*Email AR about review session+kmeans clustering
*Finish review session prep
*Grading
*Email grades
*Set up expander on Athena(sorted this but ran into technical issue that I need tech support to help sort out)

I also have some small lab-related tasks
*Fill out progress log, make schedule for the weak
*Start expt
*Email about GSEA, HPLC, shoes (working on this now)
*Log genotyping results
*Finish analyzing biosensor data

*Read Yoshida paper

*Email CB

OK, working on exam answer key now; will try to get this done by noon.

Agnus checking in 10:20am

Good morning PA pals!  I had a restful weekend, as planned.  This morning I've done some quiet time, sponsor/sponsee calls, some OA service work and helped J who is extreme pain today, poor guy.  Seeking focus today as I build up my work-muscles toward a 40-hour billable week again - I should be celebrating how nice those paychecks will look but instead, in typical PA fashion, I'm already falling behind "getting ready" to do the work. So on to the day's plan:

  • eat breakfast; do readings and pray through the day's plans Innocent
  • fix printer connection, or hook up the backup Laughing
  • review notes from Thur-Friday and prioritize MITs and MUTs incl:
    • email em notes from Thur
    • notes from fribrg too?
    • software finale - if I stay focused I can bring this baby home today!
  • work diligently at the "next right thing"
  • 4pm client/team call - prep in advance; send notes immed after
  • 1 hr on case study

"My boundaries enclose a pleasant land..." Psalm 16

Ag updating 1:15, 6pm, 11pm

  • work MITs and MUTs incl:
    • em rpt
    • eat lunch
    • email em notes from Thur UndecidedI found an error and need to redo
    • notes from fribrg too? Undecided started em but can't finish yet pending some other people's input
    • software finale - if I stay focused I can bring this baby home today! Frownnot happening, again, due to emerging urgencies.
  • work diligently at the "next right thing" Innocent honestly proud of this today - took awhile to get started but then I kept steadily at it
  • 4pm client/team call - prep in advance; send notes immed after Innocent
  • 1 hr on case study Frownnot happening, again, due to emerging urgencies.
  • 6:15 lv for mtng, pickup friend on way
  • 7pm mtng
  • 9:15 home, dinner
  • ADDED: do the top 3 most urgent tasks from today's meeting
  • CARRIED OVER from earlier today: do the fribrg notes, need 'em for call in a.m.
  • 11pm finale - I give up getting these tasks done - too tired tonight and dare not short my sleep given how busy the rest of the week is looking.  My only procrastination today was in getting started - I could/should have begun my work tasks way before 1 pm but took a lot of time "getting ready" - So with God's help I will remember this in the morning and get an earlier start.

o if i could only remember thomas edison's wise words.

last 2 weeks i've had distracted starts to my day and binge starts. today started as distraction.

sometimes all that's left for me to do is

create the "best catch-up plan" i can

... ok this is a new low. i was STILL EDITING my post when i got distracted again. *sigh* "...courage to change the things i can..."

it's still only 9:30. make a plan. start executing it. Damn the torpedoes (of guilt, fear that it's too late, hopeless feelings that i'm never going to change) and full speed ahead.

"One does not need to see the whole staircase, only to take the next step."

    ...ok it happened again...

thing is, there's like 1000 things that can distract me, and they arise every few minutes. it's like i have to vigilant to stay on track. *sigh*

...distracted again that's no less than THREE times all before i hit 'post comment'

i will resist the urge to "save time" by avoid planning and just jumping (obsessively, binge-ing-ly) into something. God help me. God give me strength. i NEED IT TODAY!!

    Well done CL

I get distracted a lot too. You are not alone in that. I have improved a bit by using a timer. If I have a task which took me 20 minutes say then I give myself the same amount of free time to 'dibble about', do whatever takes my interest. Then I will focus on the next task for a set amount of time using a timer. I have a timer in every room. On bad days I might 'work' for 5 minutes and 'dibble' for another 5.

Well done for turning up.and posting. Be gentle with yourself.

You can do it Clement, we believe in you!

    <<clement>> hang in there!

At least you're showing up! Smile I didn't for three days...

Try to schedule out little 10-15 minute bunches of work.  You can do it! Hop into chat and get some inspiration from your friends here. Good luck!

Show up (done). I experimented with other ways to "check in" for the day, but this one is still the most reliable for me and showing up has to be part of my "maintainence plan" for pa recovery. I'm learning.

    Good job Vic!

Showing up is key! Have a good day! We're rooting for you! Cool

I also forgot how special and meaningful a word of support is from a fellow pa member. It's like a big smile from someone in person. That feeling of isolation is lifted somewhat.

Right now I am just being lazy. I walked, did on line stuff, some weeding, my son is not cooperating with his schoolwork and I do not want to fight, so I am waiting til my husband gets home. I am home, cyber schooling him and he had to actually do some work, more than he had been doing, so it is a struggle. He has been accustom to not doing much.

Right now need to look up gepometry theorms so I could help other son. Will go to chat box.

    Journey 9 am

Happy Monday!   I had a busy weekend.   I tried to unplug completely yesterday but I only made it til 1 pm  .   It's my intention to have unplugged Sundays, only getting on the computer if I need it for work.  Saturday I had to go to a funeral for a distant relative and then the kids had us over for dinner for a change woot!  So I didn't check in over the weekend.

Back in the office today, I've been to the gym, checked email and calendar and now making my todo list.  Or rather, avoiding making my todo list.   I'm turning on Instant Boss and getting to it!  later!

    strike's mindful check-in 3pm

Hi guys, hope everyone are doing and feeling ok. Sweet starter huma. I've been to two meetings so far and was tired when I got home and ended up browsing randomly for about two hours. Now I need to:

    1. prepare phone call to company 5
    2. call  this potential employer sounded really interested!
    3. file loose papers + declutter apartment
    4. effective weekly review
    5. take a walk and head on to the gym

    GeorgeSmiley, 4/19/10, 6:35 AM + Updates

    Excellent Day Starter!

I have a reasonable list of tasks today. I've also set aside time slots today for email and for web surfing. I will strive to respect the limits I have set for myself regarding those activities today.

I've also set aside 1/2 hour/day for transcription, always after lunch. On many days I know I'll need more time than that.

    Today's tasks:

    1) Project T-S  Smile 8 AM

    2) Project PB
Smile 10 AM: Some progress, more to do later today Undecided 5:10 PM: A bit more progress. Not as much as I'd like. It's gotta be the first task in the AM.

    3) Project R-M
Smile 11:09 AM: Today's installment completed

    4) Project MRR
Undecided 5:10 AM: Limited progress. Much more to do tomorrow

    5) Project QA-W
Smile 5:10 AM: Enough progress, but more to do.

5:10 PM: Done for the night
