Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity
from stagnation... even so does inaction sap
the vigor of the mind.

Go forth and energize yourself with action.

I've been away for a LONG time. Fantastic to see phone meetings, phone check-ins, in-person meetings -- WOW!

Having a long, sluggish day in which I'm feeling immobilized by a big project with imminently looming deadline (tomorrow). I'd been chipping away at it intermittently for awhile, but need to crank it out now. Can't seem to quiet my anxiety long enough to figure out what to do. So:
-clear space on desk - DONE (cleared enough)
-look at to do list for project - DONE (read it, but so stressed it didn't all sink in)
-get relevant files & papers out - DONE (already more progress than I've made all day)
-review memo
-review summary of HE dec.
-finalize outline

Spirit - good thought to start the day - thanks!

Crazy week, just don't seem to keep things in order and on track, but I knew this week was going to be that way so I can't beat myself up to much.

Pretty much same list from yesterday with 10 more new items that have to be done today.  I'll come back later and detail things.

time to go forth and energize with action!

hope4meandu check-in (9:52AM)

Hi All,

Need to get stuff off my head that keeps whirling around that I need to do and every time I come here to unload, I can't remember what it is. When it comes to my mind, I'll check in again.

Also, there is a restaurant near to where I live that is hiring. They are looking for experience, but it's been a long time since I worked in a restaurant. I'm thinking of dropping in after work...they could refuse to see me, etc., but it's worth a try.

Thinking of you all today!!!

Journey 9:30

Good morning!  I am working from home again today and getting a bit of a late start, on purpose.   I worked a lot over the weekend so I'm planning to make this a really short work day.   I will get my work MITs done and also catch up on laundry and rest a bit today too.

I exercised, and  now I'm going to have breakfast, make my todo list and schedule, take a shower, then check back!

Have a productive day everyone!

kromer 9:25 CI

Today is another busy day.

So far, I've done a little work on IHC and answered emails.

MITs for today are:
*Finish IHC
*Check on VAD mice
*Germ cell mtg 1-3
*Python tutorial 5:30-7
*Call AG
*Email CB and CE
*Work on notes from lab mtg
*Laundry, dishes

If I have more time I'll do:
*Dmc1 genotyping
*Email prospective students
*1 hr work pset2

OK, right now I have about 30 min before I have to do the next IHC step...I'll set up Dmc1 genotyping, that's a quick task I can get done easily in breaks.

Spirit 2/3/2010

Good Morning All,

Today I am going into a new set of tasks,  I am enter the third day of beginning these newest sets of tasks and my mind is still process how to best approach what must be done to achieve my desired result.  I once thought of this as procrastination but now I understand after months of working this program diligently, it is normal for my brain to have some processing time as I take actions more and more aggressively each day towards my goal-whichever one I am pursuing at that time.

I have finally experience the adrenalin rushes associated with working a plan of action until completion and must admit-find it very intoxicating.  More to

  • Focus on current project
  • Research details of documents to completion
  • 2 hrs on paperwork
  • 2 hrs outreach
  • 1 hr planning
  • 1/2 processing
  • 1 hr prep for mkt materials
