Cal20 CI - better late than never

It's the end of the day, so this is kind of after the fact, but checking in just the same.

An old friend contacted me via email today, and as strange as it might sound, I would normally put off contacting my friends until I had "time", and today I made time.   That felt good.

I'll check in earlier tomorrow......

Today I will do:

  • Summarize pub 1 for section 1
  • summarize pub 2 for section 2
  • summarize pub 3 for section 3
  • decide what other sections I need
  •  remember that I can do this, it is not rocket science, these tasks are finite, I am smart, I am a hard worker and I can switch my mental energy toward moving forward instead of spinning, which takes more energy anyway. There!

Agnus checking in

Good day, friends!  I started with a 12Step meeting then visited with some old friends and new girls, really gave me some gratitude. Had partial Step 11 but came to synch my Blackberry and have been dawdling ever since. Now boss has called with a to-do and I am so sleepy I can't keep my eyes open. blood sugar drop I think polkus not enough sleep since last week. MITs right now:

  • cancel afternoon meeting per boss
  • schedule 1:1 calls
  • nap
  • eat lunch
  • actually DO Step 11 and get a plan for today, then check back in here and start workin' it, with God's help.

Journey 10 am meh

I'm soooo tired . . . . but today is my last day of "on-call" duty, someone else takes over at midnight tonight.  I ended up working late both Friday and Saturday night (like 2 am late) then got suckered into babysitting the 3-year old Sunday afternoon.  I had a good time with my grandson though. I hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks and I missed him.   He's old enough now that I can do chores and watch him too.  I'm not complaining though, this is why I do this kind of work, the problem solving part is the fun part of my job.   I do miss the old days though when we got a  day off  after working the weekend, that does not happen any more.   Now it's considered part of the job.   So much for work/life balance, eh?

Anyway, although I didn't get much project work done last week, I worked hard all week and I feel good about it.

I didn't go to the gym this morning, but slept in a bit and got on the treadmill at home.  I was at work at 9:00 which is later that I like to arrive but I don't officially have to be here til 9:00 so that's fine too.

I've spent the morning so far following up on issues from the weekend.  Now I'm going for coffee and make a todo list for the rest of the day.

Toodles.

Jo

OK, going in to last part of a big push (I have a written assignment due today ASAP + semi-scary mtg, presentation tomorrow morning, written assignment due tomorrow, class to teach Wednesday, array write-up due Friday-ish, written assignment due Sunday)

So, just need to keep my focus for a little while longer.

Here's a plan for today:
*Write up results + make slides from yesterday's imaging experiment
*Pre-process new MG data (working on this now)
*Do quick comparison to stages data
*Write up computational work
*Proof and send write-up
*Make slides on GO/GSEA analysis (will do this soon)
*Make slides on chip comparison (working on this now)
*Make slides on cyp comparison
*Make slides on stages comparison
*Make slides on new data (rough version of this is done)
*Prep for and go to quals planning mtg, take notes afterwards
*Prep for and go to harambee planning mtg, take notes afterwards
*Drop off reg form + samples

Whew! hope I'll be able to get that all done, I'll just have to do the best I can. Heading to chatbox now.

Rise In Flames Check In @ 9:25 AM

Wow, just thankful I made it to work! A lot of snow and ice on the streets.

My big goal today is not to surf the internet.

Vic 2/1

 Show up (done)

Don't press the panic button. Just print out what I have and say "It's good enough" even if I don't believe it.

ps live the starter- can't believe it is Feb.

"Just print out what I have

"Just print out what I have and say "It's good enough" even if I don't believe it."

Vic,  you have described exactly what I need to do. Maybe ESPECIALLY if I don't believe it (because I never believe what I have done is good enough). Today I will remind myself, If Vic can do it, I can do it. That will help!

(Thondiel)

I did it! hope you did as well. I ran out of color ink and son's printer messed up. I called office to make sure they would be there and they said they were leaving early, but tommorrow is ok.
So now, I will go out to get color ink and put page numbers on. But just doing it before was good. I would have given it in black and white if they did not go early, go I want to walk, store and ink. Don't know if I will accoplish all, I hope so.Hope you do to, back to the not good enough feeling, as well as dealing with "why did I not get ink before" self critic.

Good for you, Vic, you get

Good for you, Vic, you get an E for effort, which is very good. I also  did get started today and got a bit done, although not all I had planned. I think in addition to a procrastination problem I have a planning problem--I just try to fit too many things in. Today I didn't really procrastinate like I often do, I was just a bit sluggish, not totally stuck. Maybe that's progress. Don't fret about the ink, it always runs out at the worst times.
