Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
I seem to be having a mild freak-out. . . been getting back into dating online, and a couple of people seem to be interested in me. It's exciting but stressful. The possibility of meeting someone stirs up a lot of loneliness and desire that had been somewhat dormant.
So. . . I found myself surfing the net for the last hour. Escapism and trying to calm my nerves, I guess, though that's probably not the best way to do it. I did get some important emails sent (before I checked in here) and ate some healthy vegetables, so the evening wasn't a total wreck.
I'm going to get ready for bed so I can get some rest, and maybe do a relaxation exercise before I go to sleep.
At least the stress is from something potentially positive.
*HUGS* It is really positive and a bit of nerves and weirdness is fine and normal and hopefully very worth it *hugshugs* I hope and pray this dating experiment turns out well beyond your wildest dreams :)

Hi everyone. I'm trying to break the week into financial steps to take care of a big bill due next week. The biggest problem (besides me) is the influx of locals stopping by. I can't be "open" and "closed" at the same time.
To do:
(X)put out trash
(X)take care of big delivery
make business phone calls
cleaning swoop thru house
lessen pile on table
clean out car a bit
put done laundry away
do load of dirty laundry
do insurance paperwork
bill client
Yesterday was a really good day! I kept a time log and got a little more than 8 hours of solid, focused work done (over the course of 10.5 hours in lab). That meant I finished all my high-priority tasks and most of my medium-priority tasks, and also got to take some real time off (prayer time in the morning, dancing and talking to bf in the evening).
I don't expect every day to be that good, but it's nice to see what I can do. It's also good to see that freedom from procras. doesn't mean endless work, but rather limited, focused work and plenty of real breaks.
OK, now for today! I got into lab around 8 to start an experiment, worked 8-9 to get that started, then had breakfast and prayertime and checked my email (and did a little websurfing)
Scheduled for today: Lab mtg 10-11:30ish, dancing 8-10:30
High priority:
*Do fixation (mostly done)
*Basic comparison of my data to cyp26b1 data (Working on this now)
*Email M and P, send letters
*Fix javascript validation, email PF
Medium priority:
*Finish organizing papers and lab nb
*Call home
*Work 1 hr on organizing computer files
Low priority:
*Thank you notes
*Organize WM directory
*Find articles on scientific networking.
OK, in the few minutes before lab mtg, I'm going to send emails. After lab mtg, I'll work on fixation, then do basic comparison to cyp26b1 data.
Update 2: Focus isn't great today, but I've gotten some work done. Right now, I'm working on comparison of cyp26b1 data. Steps for this are:
1)Compute overall correlation
2)Graph % ovlp as function of cutoff (close to done w/ this)
3)Try filtering out absent genes
4)Find 2 papers on more sophisticated comparisons, read one of them.
I'll check back after I finish each of these steps.
Yesterday was a good day, happy to be back on track after a week of struggling last week.
I've been to the gym, stopped by the grocery store to do the rest of the shopping that I didn't feel like doing over the weekend , made todo list. I'm hungry now so I'm going to fix some breakfast, then plug my todos into my google calendar.
Working from home today so I should be checking in frequently today.

How you spend your days is how you live your life - Edge
Done:
got up (and I didn't want too)
washed and cleaned up
important email to friend to try to establish peace between us
found papers for appointment with psychologist later today
Todo:
bath and wash hair
get dressed and ready
prepare notes for appointment
out for appointment which I am nervous about
Oh boy, I had a complete procrastination crash last night (caused by deciding to watch a TV programme with housemate that we both love, meaning I couldn't get all my tasks done, and instead of going 'okay, I'll get some of them done' I lost the plot completely, didn't even check in (though it's great to realise how rare that is for me!) and got hardly any sleep. Hey, we all have those days!
Again, I'm keeping my tasklist down to relatively few things to give myself a decent chance of getting it done. Starting from where I am rather than tasklisting retrospectively:
Work:
Backlog
Email - Part done
Paper - Part done
Filing
Contracts - Part done
Outlook tasks - Part done
Tidy desk
Lunchbreak:

After work:
