Happy Sunday! Remember, in every job that must be done there is an element of fun

Sorry, that's what's on my brain right now so that's what you're getting...

Oh my goodness, you guys,

Oh my goodness, you guys, I'm so glad my threadstarter meant something to you!

Major progress on the room today but not much else... I'm thinking about following recycler's lead and making a 'what I achieved' type update in future instead of posting a tasklist and then seeing how much I complete - I think there's a lot of potential for negativity and feeling like a failure with the tasklist option, and I'm currently trying to convince myself in every way I can think of that I CAN.

Of course, this leaves the question of how I'm going to organise myself without a tasklist...

Since you seem to be enjoying the Mary Poppins lyrics, check out 'Anything Can Happen', a song from the stage show:

Falcon CI Sunday night

Hi pro buddies,

Now I can just tell I'm gonna be humming about how a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down. . . for days!   Laughing

I'm almost done for the night, and just don't feel like doing those last few chores.  Got a couple of bills to pay. . . going to do that now & check back in.

Falcon

Falcon done w/ bills

Well, that was like pulling teeth, but now it's done.  And I have enough money I can afford to make some online purchases I wanted to make, so I get to do that now.  Yay!

Recycler CI 5pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

I love the threadstarter, lucky! :)

This morning I went on a bike ride, then went to my mid-morning activity. After that, I had time to start loads in the clotheswasher & dishwasher before going out to a social activity. Resisted temptation at a regional shop. Did an errand on the way home. Took a nap after arriving at home.

I still need to get a few things ready for tomorrow/this week. Let me putter around & see what I can do! I hope to update my CI later.

7:45pm. I've washed, dried, & put away all the laundry. While I've lagged behind on running the dishwasher, there is a load in there now. I think I can do one more load before bedtime. Next: Make a gym bag & a work bag for this week.

8:20pm. Gym bags are made. Work bag: progress not perfection = done "good enough" ;) I think the dishwasher is ready for one more load ;)

8:50pm. Dishwasher has started on it's final load for the evening. I have made containers of food for my work lunch this week. I recharged my cell phone battery.

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Recycler

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

MovingAlong ... whistling while I work

Hello all.

With the theme of today's thread ...

From the lyrics of "Spoonful of Sugar"
(from Disney's Mary Poppins)

The honeybees that fetch the nectar
from the flower to the comb
never tire of ever buzzing to and fro ..

Because they take a little nip
from every flower that they sip.
And hence they find
their task is not a grind!

From the lyrics to "Whistle While You Work"
(from Disney's Snow White and Seven Dwarfs)

When hearts are high
the time will fly.
So whistle while you work.

Come on get smart,
tune up and start
to whistle while you work.

Checking in ...

This past week, I have allowed worry and frustration to block me from working on tasks.

After contemplating today's thread starter, I shall add joy to each task.

I do believe it's possible to add joy to the most tedious task ....

... if I tune into the essence of Joy that "higher power" can put me in touch with.

To start: "finding the nectar of joy" ... while washing dishes!

Fun with tasks, from today's thread-starter

Oooh! Love the thread-starter !

I was looking at the lyrics ...

http://lyrics.wikia.com/Julie_Andrews:A_Spoonful_Of_Sugar

... and I see that these lyrics give
a new "Tool for Recovery from Procrastination"
that we could use.

It's all about "attitude"!

Thanks!

 Showing up (done)

Back to baby step concept, microburst idea was good but after a day it did not seem like "fun"  so today, plan ck in later

Lucky back from the back of beyond

Sorry about the disappearance! Had a fantastic week in New York followed by an incredibly busy week where I didn't feel I had time to think about PA, and then by the end of that I had Avoidance!Fail!Guilt about this place and hence didn't come back for ANOTHER week... anyway, here I am :)

Doing well with clearing work backlog at work, need to make a new plan for that in light of the first bit taking me longer than expected, but at least it's happening.

Hoping to get work to buy me a Palm so I can use the to-do list software on that.

Housemate is pushing me to clean my room this weekend, for which I'm incredibly grateful, though realistically I probably won't finish today.

So, total list of things I need to deal with:

Room tidy

Email backlog

Paper backlog

Budgeting (after paper backlog, except 2 little things that I urgently need to sort before payday on Tuesday)

Looking for extra work

To do today:

Room tidy

Email T

Sort the 2 little things as far as possible/prepare for phone calls on Monday

Pack running kit for Tuesday

 ***

I'm also having a lot of weird growing-up experiences lately - the other day I was in the loo (washroom) at work trying to force myself to get up and go back to my desk (I'm not the only one, right?) and thinking about these really strong feelings that I can't do things when I actually know I can. And out of nowhere,  I had a really vivid memory flash of the first time I pretended I couldn't do something. I was four and embarrassed that I could spell better than the other kids in my class, so I pretended I couldn't spell the words 'square' and 'slant'.

So I think the adult feeling she can't is directly linked to the four-year-old pretending she can't. It was a wish to be less capable. Apparently I have the power to make my wishes come true to a disturbing extent.

So now I need to deluge my brain with I can, I can, I can...
