Well what a day we had yesterday!

Milo, from a secret location somewhere warm and sunny ;), has been in presentation mode, and fitting it all in with family life.

Pro has been writing to clients and turning ToDos into TaDas (keep the balance of work/play though pro, you don't want to burn out!). Also finding out what lights pro's candle has been on the agenda - selling products rather than services - and a decision was made to gradually work towards selling products.

Slider has been organising her ToDos and sorting out priorities (LOL about getting hymns sorted ~before~ the pianist arrives!)

todayfirst has written a personal program loop for getting through the day with maximum productivity and minimum burnout!

solidground has been popping in for a lurk - hope you're getting what you need out of visiting solidground

flexiblefine pops in from time to time to comment in the Articles section.

Anyat hasn't posted for a few days - are you there Anyat?

Gwen and Anouk have gone MIA - hopefully because they're getting so much done without us.

And we've had many more visitors and lurkers!

that's a long to-do list!

I'm curious about a couple of the items. What does "fantasy journal" mean? That sounds interesting. Did you see my "Dreams" thread?

Procrastinating on Your Dreams

Also, what's "bookcrossing"?

Do you teach something medical?

Q&As

A 'Fantasy Journal' is something I read about on a website that I found when I followed up a link on procrastination. If it wasn't here it was probably on the 'Now Habit' board when I first checked that out. It's basically writing down your dreams in a journal as if they've already happened. I've only tried it once so far, but as soon as I did things started moving fast! In writing it down I found the link between where I was at the time of writing, and where I wanted to be, which of course made it easier to get there! I saw the Dreams thread - it starts from a similar idea and takes it to another stage.

Check out www.bookcrossing.com for more on Bookcrossing (I'm Normy there too if you want to check out my bookshelf). The basic idea is to share a love of books with others. I leave books in various places for people to find, or sometimes we pass them between us in 'rings' (where the book eventually comes back to you) or 'rays' (where it just goes out and ends up who knows where!). Each book has a unique ID so you can track where it's been and what people thought of it. It's ace!

I teach yoga and I'm also a yoga therapist. It's the therapy bit where the medical stuff comes in. My payroll job is at a centre which provides therapies for people with cancer and their carers, and those bereaved by cancer, and I'm now expanding into other areas. I've submitted a bid for funding to provide a yoga for heart health course in the community - first time I've ever submitted a funding bid - it's all very exciting! And I'm also a member of a research interest group, and would like to get some research going at some point in the future (we can put that in the 'dream' category for now, although I've applied to go to a conference next week that relates to this). The homework I'm doing is to become a fully qualified therapist (I'm already fully qualified as a teacher).

Newsflash!

Oh oh oh, a parcel's just arrived from India! New yoga toys! Ooh packaged in the pages of an Indian English-language newspaper - I'll have to have a look at that too. OK, I've got a CD of the chanting of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, a CD-Rom on the same topic, and a DVD on Yoga for Breathing Disorders. Fab! I can knock that one off my @Waiting-For Task List!

verrrryy interesting!!!!!!!!!!

This is cool stuff, Normy. I especially love this:

Is this in the "Now Habit" book (which I own but have never read)? I love this idea. I might like to try it. It scares me somehow, though. That's weird, isn't it? I would like to read more about this and post information about it on this site.

Bookcrossing sounds very cool, too. I won't go to the site right now, though, because it will slow me down even further in getting out of the apartment. I haven't started my morning routine yet. I got all screwed up by waking up so late.

The homework I'm doing is to become a fully qualified therapist (I'm already fully qualified as a teacher).

Do you mean yoga therapist, or psychotherapist?

Yoga therapy

Body, mind, and soul! :) Sorry, I was still talking about yoga there.

Yoga's done a lot for me on the psychological front, and there are probably some areas of overlap, but there are probably more differences than similarities (I guess - I don't know sufficient about psychotherapy to say for sure). Where I do payroll work we have many different therapies - yoga, counselling, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy (the most popular therapy), Alexander Technique, art therapy, play therapy, drama therapy....psychotherapy is just one of many. For many people it's inappropriate or not what they need.

The Fantasy Journal isn't in the Now Habit book - it was a link from a procrastination website (I thought it might have been here, but if not then from the Now Habit Yahoo Group that flexiblefine told us about. I went and had a look but I decided it wasn't for me, but I ~did~ pick up a couple of book recommendations and links whilst I was lurking. Let me have a look and see if I've still got that web address somewhere...(but save it for when you've finished your jobs for the day!).

Ha! Fantastic! I love my Task List - here the address with my notes:

http://www.writersdigest.com/articles/sticking_points.asp

Excellent article on journal writing and motivation - suggests something like 'reverse journalling' - you write the journal as if you were writing down at the end of the day what a fantastic day you've had, then you go and do it!

How would I spend my day?
How would I feel about my life?
What kind of work would I be doing?
What would I do for fun?
Where would I live?
Who would my friends be?
What kinds of relationship would I have with the people closest to me?

Norm's first BE 6.45 am

Well, I took the rest of the evening off last night. I'm just loving this 'guilt-free play' concept! It really does re-charge my batteries! DSO and I watched a Billy Connolly DVD (Episode One of World Tour of New Zealand), then we went early to bed and I had a read, and lights were out and my head on the pillow at 11 pm. So I woke up bright and early, made myself a cuppa, put on a scented candle, and popped in here to organise my thoughts for the day.

I'm continuing with my list from yesterday, and adding my Saturday jobs to the list. I thought I'd try working just half the day and playing half the day (excluding my routines, that means working till about 3.00 pm) - but it might not come out that neat, LOL!

Here's what it looks like at the moment - subject to change! There are other things on the 'Big List' that may pop on depending how the mood takes me :)

*Home 'Zone' housework: Entrance, Hall, Dining Room
*See if I can book tickets for play (may not be able to because weekend)

*Phone B&Bs and see if I can get somewhere to stay for yoga festival next weekend
*Contact festival organiser re festival and first aid course

There's more on the Big List, but that's plenty for now! Looks a bit ambitious actually, but I'm in the mood to aim high!

guilt-free leisure!!

> I'm just loving this 'guilt-free play' concept! It really does re-charge my batteries!

Yes, isn't that awesome? When I'm procrastinating, I never really can relax in a "recharging" way because I always feel so guilty. Yesterday when I was taking a walk and reading my book by the river I felt totally entitled to do it, and it felt GREAT!!
