Recycler CI 8:45pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

What a long day! Recycler needs to go to sleep now lol! ;)

Got to gym on time this morning, even a few mintues early :D Did my whole routine including some extra stretching :D I like extra stretching because afterwards feels about as good as after a massage :)

Work. OK, work did not feel like a massage. lol. Oh my gosh. hee hee. Oh, had to do some back-research on how a project came about. Did stuff, but it was just kind of meh. Meh.

Lunchtime. Ate lunch & wrote 2 checks. I've done well on taking a lunch I actually like on Monday & Tuesday, so I want to give myself credit for that.

After work, went to volunteer activity. Had to unexpectedly give a short presentation, but I did it. Fortunately only 6 people were there instead of the usual 20.

Arriving home: it's late, I want to check my websites, then go to sleep. Still having some hobby excitement; but that's ok. At least it is about feeling happy :)

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Agnus check-in

What a glorious picture! Thanks for the great starter, chickadee. I've been away, staying with Mom (Internet-free zone), so I've been catching up here. Last night I was too tired to drive home after class. Recalling my beloved late niece, whose family started the campaign, "Drowsy Driving Kills," I pulled over and napped for an hour. It was the right thing to do, but then I only got to bed at 1:30am, slept til 10 today and now have quite a deficit on my hands...In the context of being Who I Am (thanks for that great link, byGodsGrace!) these are my 2do's2day:

  • mail the subc template DONE!
  • file r6 expenses DONE!
  • weekly proj rept DONE!
  • log trip expenses
  • payroll DONE!
  • thank-you notes
  • roch actions DONE!
  • clear Outlook Inbox Mostly done: 6 of 118 remain as reminders for 2morow
  • update and prioritize task list
  • order gingko etc
  • schedule chiro appt
  • leave by 5:30 for massage therapy this got moved up to 4:45

As I review at day's end, I notice that I took way too long on a couple of tasks that were not on my list for today, including a memo that took me more than an hour to compose - perfectionism attack. I also note that when email piles up it BECOMES my work, rather than informing my work.  I will ask my HP to help me clear my Inbox at the end of each day and not let it build up. Thanks for being here.

Is there any way to delete this double posting?

and how did it happen?

Today I have a headache.  I still haven't taken anything for it, I find I usually get really tired when I do, so I try to wait it out.  I am thinking, though, that it's time to go ahead and take some meds.

TADA list

worked, made lunch for ds, watched over dchildren as they brushed teeth and washed faces, laid out dc's clothes, dropped off ds on time, took a shower, did dd's hair, dropped dd off at preschool remembering to bring puzzles I had promised them, and dd's valentines!  Got shopping done, did so smartly and included a meal for me.  Ate healthy breakfast with green tea, filled out Lucky Duck tix for preschool.  Picked dd up, ...got home, put meat in freezer, added wood to fire, sat down and have been on laptop ever since.

I want to take my meds, neaten and shine kitchen.

I will check in later!

So, I didn't take anything for my headache until about an hour ago - its all gone  :)

Tada list cont

painted ds 100th day project with ds and dd.  I did most of it - surprise surprise!

Had spinach with supper.  I don't think I have ever 'made' spinach before.  I cooked it until wilted, and then mixed it with cold peaches and quick-fried almond slivers.  Nothing else.  It was good, I thought.  I will make it again :)

kept the fire going and rebooted the laundry

made supper, loaded and running dishwasher as I type.

Talked to my mom, haven't talked to her in a couple of weeks.  Lucky lady went to Las Vegas for 4 days.  That was something that I never thought my parents would do, they are just NOT Las Vegas material!  LOL  Tomorrow we will talk longer, I hope she tried the slots  :)

I guess that's all for today.  It was another positive day, I feel good, except for being tired.  Must go fold the laundry and watch House, then bed at 9pm.  No later or I can't get up when my alarm goes off at 516 am!!

Have a good night everyone!

GeorgeSmiley 7:35 AM; Update 7:10 PM

For the last few weeks I've tended to not set specific MITs as much. (Sometimes, but not regularly.) Instead of just gone thru my Outlook task pad and tried to do at least something of everything there. I've done that because the list tends to be so long and I want to try to winnow it.

It turns out that this is fairly similar to a method employed by a guy named Mark Forster, a method he calls "auto focus" (although he uses a written notebook for that). I read about this yesterday following a link that I'm pretty sure I got from someone here, although I don't recall when or where here.

I'm going to try this method more completely, using my Outlook task pad. The only MITs I'll set here are for appointments and for major deadlines for today.

~Phone Appt. 10 AM for Project D-2Update, 7:10 PM: Did that.

~At least 30 minuteson Project E/E-B
Update, 7:10 PM: Did that.

~At least 30 minutes transcribing Project F-G
Update, 7:10 PM: Didn'd do that that.

At the end of the day I'll try to report back on every thing completed as well as the success (or not) of accomplishing the above. And I'm still using chatbox to help keep me on task throughout the day.

For certain tasks especially I will use timers to make sure I don't get so absorbed in them that I end up time-bingeing.

I've also removed (again) all the designated time slots for activities other than specific appointments, and a reminder at the end of the day
to advance prep for dinner.

P.S. - Gorgeous day-starter!

Update, 7:10 PM: It worked pretty well in the AM. In the afternoon I was out a lot and had to install a new wireless network at home so I got nothing done. But I'm going to keep trying this variation on my past system.

Show up.  Do your work.  Go home.

kromer 7:55 CI

This morning is going to be focused on a MUT...I have a presentation at 11 that I'm not ready for, so I have to finish prepping for that. (It doesn't have to be great, it just has to be done).

Then, there's some work I'd promised to have done by tomorrow or Thursday that's not even started, so I need to work on that this afternoon. I also need to get a little work done in DP's lab (finish seq. analysis, and start write-up of my work)

I hate being so reactive...but it's OK, this week a lot of unexpected things have come up for me, it's natural to have fallen a little bit behind. What matters now is how I catch up.

This evening I'm going to go square dancing, and also make up a schedule for what I want to get done in the rest of the week (so I can stop just responding to crises).

Heading to chatbox now to finish the presentation.

kromer 1:25 CI

I got the presentation finished (but it ended up getting postponed until Thursday, so I have some more time to tinker with it)

I got to 11:00 class a bit late, but that's OK, at least I made it.

Then I went out to lunch with friends, which was really nice and a healthy break.

Now I'm feeling so behind that I'm really tempted to procrastinate...but I'm going to resist the temptation. Right now I'm in DP's lab, and my immediate task is to finish sequence analysis. I'm going to head to the chatbox and just get that done. When I'm done with that, *then* I can take a break.

kromer 5:20 CI

Yuck, today has not been going well.

The afternoon has pretty much lost to procras. I'm also really mad at myself b/c I missed a mtg w/ a prof. (totally forgot about it)

However, I'm going to lift up that I made a little progress on the sequence analysis, and that I'm checking in despite my shame about pro.

I think that realistically I'm not going to get a lot done tonight, so I'm going to make a schedule for what I want to get done this week (15 min), then I'm going to call a friend and go to bible study and square dancing.

Amazing photo and thought chickadee, so inspiring! Thank you!

I have a seminar to attend at dd school all day 8-3 then her therapy so I will not be checking until the evening, but commit to follow through on my list and check in later.

I wanted to say how grateful I am to have found a place to recover from a lifetime of avoiding….”byGod’sGrace” I have overcome many addictions, but somehow never been fully healed… and never knew why I just couldn’t get it together in my life until it all came together for me here, that avoidance was the root of all the rest... now my path is finally clear.
