Here's a Tuesday tea and biscuits for all pro-buddies. Thanks for being here.
Today I can give myself credit for a small step. Every step counts. A small effort is better than nothing.

Hi Pro Buddies!
I've got volunteer activity tonight, so doing an end-of-the-workday CI :)
Did my workout at the gym this morning. Projects today at work have been a mixed bag. While targeted MITs are done, I was hoping to make further progress. Had some MUTs come through, so have done those. Next: update my project list for tomorrow, then try to do 1 or 2 more things before leaving work.
Tonight: Executive Cte then Supervision Group. After getting home, do Remote Access Project for my boss.
Shouldn't there be some goofing off somewhere for this evening? :) Surely I can work some in! :)
Have a great night, everyone! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Yesterday someone here mentioned a book I remember reading that distinguished "paper people" and computer-people. The author said paper-people shouldn't try time management on computer and vice versa. For me, the physical writing task seems to stimulate my brain in a more orderly fashion, but in recent years I've gotten away from handwriting and just been using computer. I got to thinking about this and today decided to hand-write my to-do's, and then sort then into quads (Important/Urgent, Important/Not Urgent, Urgent/Important and Neither). It is helping me so far! Working down my Important/Urgent list first:
I finally got that damn
I finally got that damn presentation done, but there is plenty else left to do. My top priority for now is to get a good start on the F memo and the NY que today.
yea ml
that's great ml and your follow thru here makes me think you're going to have great success here.
i hear my own voice in your words because for so long i took my accomplishments for granted, and focused on what i still had to do. i wonder do you feel a sense of accomplishment for the presentation? For me it's not really a pride thing, it's just unbalanced if i only look at what i have done wrong, late, etc and not what i've done well and on time. How do you handle this kind of thing?

Thanks Clement, I really
Thanks Clement, I really appreciate that. I take a definite pride in my accomplishments, but that doesn't blot out my frustration at having taken so long to get it done. I've had a tendency throughout my life to see things as a progression of projects that need to be finished without regard to the time that is needed to get them finished. I guess I need to try to think about my life as a series of days in which certain things need to be done (that includes personal items as well as my work). That's tough, but a lifetime of bad habits won't disappear overnight, will they?
Thanks again.
more ml-clem similarity
o boy i have that too! taking however long it takes to get something done. I fight against that every day. And, yes, just as you say, there's so much time, and so many tasks, and nowadays i am trying just to find the best match. Well, at least that's my goal. And that means some lesser important tasks will not get that full attn. it is indeed a very hard habit for me too to break.

Isabo 115pm
Finally to my own day :)
Already worked, made lunch for ds, dropped both dc off a their schools, showered, shopped, had coffee and read a novel for an hour! picked dd up, read emails, made and ate lunch, read topics here...
still to do!
unload dishwasher, load dishwasher, shine kitchen, gather laundry, load, reboot, fold, putaway. Program tv shows, prep dinner....
last nights dinner took 3 1/2 hours at 400degrees - top element only. Smelled really good, put in fridge for tonight. How does one reheat roast vegetables? I guess I will try frying them up....I don't know....
check back in a bit...

No exercise today. Mrs. GS and I have not yet been able to get going on that. It demands that we go to bed right at 9 in order to get up and out the door at 5.
That didn't happen last night.
OTOH, here I am a full 45 minutes earlier than my plan contemplates. So it seems like I should make the best of it.
MIT#1: Finish Project P-4
MIT#2: Project G
MIT#3: Project S-L

You should watch 24. It was so boring last night I feel asleep immediately lol!

Journey 8 am
Good morning, just got home from the gym. Still feeling a bit scattered and pulled in different directions. Feeling this way leads to procrastination because I just don't know what to do next, and I can get pulled into time-wasting activities easily. I'll be in the chatbox all day (hehe first I typed "I'll be in the catbox all day" I hope that's not the case!)
First, fresh coffee, boot up the work laptop, and have some breakfast. While I have breakfast I'll check my calendar and think about my intentions for the day.

Having a hard time getting going this morning...I'm going to take 10 min to plan out my day and then check back.
Plan:
Scheduled: class 11-12:30 and 1-2:30(?), square dancing 8-10:30 :)
MITs:
*Prep for mtg w/ PF
*Brainstorm strategy for seq analysis, get all motifs
*Refine model of Stra8/Dazl data (incorp. variance, think about whether normal distribution is the right one to use
*Figure out where I stand on rotation choice, email about class
*Get form signed
Other tasks:
*Write algorithm summary
*Finish ans. WM problems
*Finish sig/sys chpt. 4, start chpt. 5
*update computer
*Review 3 papers
Right now, I'm going to send an email about classes, then I'm going to make my bed/pack lunch, then I'm going to head to DP's lab. Once I get to DP's lab, I'll refine model of data, then brainstorm strategy for seq. analysis. Before class at 11, I'll get form signed and start downloading computer updates
Update 9:30: IN DP's lab ( a bit late), now want to refine model of data
kromer 3 CI
Today is not going so great.
Here's what I've done:
I've been to my 2 classes.
I sent an email about class.
I updated my computer.
Here's the other actions I've taken (that have not gone quite as smoothly as I would hope):
I tried to get my form signed, but the dept. admin isn't in today. So, I tried emailing her, but for some reason I can't get on my email.
I tried refining my model of stra8/dazl data by incorporating variance, but this didn't work the way I expected.
I tried getting motifs, but Mark can't find them in his lab nb
Here are the steps I can take next:
*
Go to one of the school computers and see if I can get on my email from there, if so send email about form*I have 2 ideas for getting model to work better (filtering+
a prior), so I can quickly try those out*I can probably find some motifs in papers, so I'll work on this for an hour or so. I can also
email Charles for suggestions.*Other MITs I haven't started yet, but they shouldn't be too difficult
Heading to a school computer, to see if I can get on and to email Charles and dept. admin.

the day starter--a thought
the day starter--a thought about timing, doing it early
I don't want to monopolize doing the starter every day (and of course others might get tired of my choices--and I am inspired by others' choices)...but my timezone makes it likely that I'll be using the site before USA people are up.
So.... what do other people think of having someone post the starter for the next day the night before a bit more often? I know that I would like to find a starter in place from time to time and it would also keep me from imposing mine on y'all too often. And then there's the added benefit of being able to post intentions.
Just a thought.
Chick Thanks
Chick thanks for the day starters and your consistancy. Your dedication to recovery inspires me.

threadstarter
I have come on to find that that day hadn't been started...I enjoyed starting the day, but finding an appropriate greeting was time-consuming! I am more than willing to do it more, if no one else has - I am on Canada's east coast....

threadstarer irony
yep i have been perfectionistic on the tread starter, taking too long. One of our mottos here i keep in mind for this: "some tasks require completion not perfection." So the few times i've done it i've resorted to just text, often from the promises for i find them inspiring.
But, it's great irony, even funny, that some of us take so much time to do that task on a site about procrastination. <grin>

ironic yes!
it's a microcosm of procrastination- doing it-can be a way to procrastinate from something else,
or it can itself be procrastinated...
or maybe it can just be a symbol of good enough is enuff! Or a tool of recovery?
"Will the last person out the door..."
"Please turn on tomorrow's day starter?"
I like the idea. I'm almost never on late at night so it's unlikely to be me, but if it is, I'll try to do it.

Show up. Pay Attention. Speak the Truth. Let Go of the Outcome.
Great! Actually it
Great!
Actually it doesn't have to be the latest or last person, since nothing prevents anyone from continuing to use one day while the next has a thread...
