It's Thursday--welcome and thanks for being here.

Thank you Clement and everyone else here,

It's just such a good and completely new feeling to me, to finally see that I am not alone with my BIG problem and to see many of you guys here doing so well and accomplishing your tasks. That gives me hope and strength!

i am very impressed with myself today, I have been in a good mood all day, even with a chemical headache.  I am encouraged with what I could do with flylady.com, I like the fact that she tells what to clean that day!  Takes the decision making right out of my hands, all I have to do is DO IT!!  In conjuction with these check ins, I should do well....then I will just have my moods as a variable, and maybe can zero in on whys and whens and find resolutions.

Have a good night everyone!

Great Job isabo

Congrats on your super day yesterday.

hope-faith

isabo congrats

what a difference a day makes! It is great to hear you feeling pleased with yourself and optimistic about the possibility of recovery. I like flylady for the reason you mentioned: she takes the debate out of things so I have a simple plan to follow and I see the results of all those little bits of effort. There are a lot of other tools which have helped me out which I have learned about here (nowdothis.com, zentodone.com, microsoft outlook, etc.) but the core of my recovery has to do with my coming back in here. It helps me enormously to see newcomers begin to turn their lives around just by posting in here. It keeps it clear to me that the only way I recover from my compulsive procrastinating is on a day by day basis. And I can always get back up when I have a slip and make some progress.

yea isabo

i am so happy at your upturn today. That's the point of being here, and you just realized it. Yes, there will be moods, and downturns, as i and many others have experienced. But we'll keep starting again together, huh?

Recycler CI 4:35pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

An end-of-the-work-day CI here :)

Exercised at the gym this morning. Got projects done this morning. During lunchtime, sometimes I do an errand, but didn't today. Had an impromptu meeting after lunch, then did a couple of projects that came up from that. Next I need to update my assignment list, so it will be ready in the morning.

Tonight: take some more boxes to the new condo. Have dinner. Last night I was in the zone as I started cleaning up and organizing things, so I am hoping to do as well tonight ;)

Our area is supposed to get Really Cold today through the next few days, so if your weather is cold, too, Bundle Up and Stay Warm, buddies!!! :)

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Done:

- finished reading CW

- asked Professor's secretary for 1-week delay of final exam - and got it (not very proud of that)

- got prescription for methylphenidat (should have gotten that one 9 months ago -err, years ago). Thanks to you guys on this amazing website I finally scheduled an appointment with a shrink ;-) ... and although I hadn't been there for 3 years (!) and never having taken any such stuff in my life before (only a mild antidepressant for a couple of months so far). She prescribed it right away (after I've only talked for 20 min about my daily routines like surfing the net, watching TV, surfing the net, watching TV ..)!

- Read a bit of S f S

- Borrowed O from library

Tomorrow:

- bring 2 parcels to post office

- read O

- get O DVD from Shakespeare reasearch library

- evening: watch O DVD

GeorgeSmiley 8 AM + updates

I had to make a major, difficult decision yesterday about Project Y and then to communicate that to certain institutional parties last night. That went very well.

Now I have to prepare to communicate that decision and the forward-going plan to Project Y's constituents. That will be challenging. Along with the usual long list of work tasks that will be one of my MIT's today.

In between I have an out-of-the-house meeting that is important to me to go to today.

Update, 6 PM

This has been a "backsliding" day. Lots of distraction from Project Y that diverted by attention, but with very little productivity. Unfocused also because of my intimidatingly long task list.

Well, tomorrow I get a chance to do it over.

I have that book on reserve at the library . . .can't wait to read it !

After two days of internet connectivity problems and car issues, I am hoping today will be back to normal.   I'm back in the office today too so that should improve my concentration.  I didn't get very much done the past two days, partly due to issues that were beyond my control, but also partly due to my inability to bounce back after a schedule disruption.  I had time to get stuff done, but didn't use it very wisely.

I sorta snapped out of it last night and ran around doing dishes and laundry at 9 pm.  So I was up late last night, but I did make it to the gym at 5:30.   tomorrow I would like to be there at 5:15 for spinning class, but dayum it's going to be 10 degrees!  In Atlanta!  The local news is making it sound like the apocalypse too lol.  It's going to be the coldest day in 6 years.

I have read email and checked my calendar.   I have my coffee and cereal.  I have a meeting at 9:30 and I would like to have the rest of the day thoroughly planned before then.

See y'all in the chatbox ~9:30 or so.

chill-e on a thursday

today i am feeling better after having fallen off the wagon yesterday. Now getting up and getting meds. There is an enormous pile of dishes in the sink awaiting me from yesterday, and major straightening and so forth to do. One task at a time.

Isabo 922am

Brrr, cold outside!   I am feeling better this morning.  K is at school, and M at her preschool.  I came home instead of staying in town so I can shower and CLEAN MY SINK!!!!  I will check in when finished....

yay isabo!

Hey, have you checked out flylady.com?!  I personally find her a bit overbearing and the web site a little too busy . . .but many people find her to be very helpful, especially for housework and clutter issues.

Thanks

Yes, I did check her out...thought I might try this and see where it takes me.  I can get household chores into a routine that doesn't overwhelm me.  Then I progress into spending time on craft projects, and some deep cleaning that needs to be done, gardening when the weather improves, things that I really, really enjoy doing.

kromer 7:05 CI

Vacation+being sick has put me behind, going to work steadily and try to catch up as much as I can.

Focus for the day: NM's project
*Look at mean expr for 20 min and 40 min switching
*Look at single cell traces for 25 cells for 20 min switching
**Look at single cell traces for 25 cells for 40 min switching
*Figure out where I stood in lab, write summary
*Read through notes from mtg w/ NM

All this should take about 4 hrs I think--2.5 this morning, and 1.5 this evening. It's really important that I get all this done today.

Other main project for the day: DP's project. I'll work on this for another 5 hours and just get as much done as I can. Possible tasks
*Talk to IT and try to get VPN working
*Safety training + set up in-lab training + ask about after-hours access
*Get R set up on my computer, find some R tutorials, install relevant packages and find documentation for them.
*Download CYP26B1 datasets to my computer

Then, in whatever extra time I have, I'll work on some household tasks: (won't get all of these done, will get as far on this list as I can.
*Call AG
*Wrap bday present and make card
*Order mattress pad
*Budgeting
*Clean bathroom

OK, heading to lab now to work on NM's project.

OK, I did really good work today and stayed on task--got almost everything done that I'd hoped for, now taking the rest of the evening off.

Hope-Faith CI 5:50

Chick thanks for starting the day. Woke up a bit late this morning. Currently working on my am routine with some adjustments. Next 10 min I will be folding some clothes and then I will begin to get ready for the day. Probabbly chat myself through it so that I can stay focused and not stress out. CI later.

CI 8:35 WOW sometimes I just amaze myself. I did not stress during my am routine. Hopefully a sign..........I am seeing that no matter how many routines I put in to place or list that I make and goals that I set I have to get to the root of my procrastination. I am really not sure what it is and I know that it has many roots not just one. But maintianing a routine and not shutting down when it does not go as plan has to be (for me) a sign that I am working towards getting on the recovery road. First time I have every metioned that term, because I never felt like I had anything to recovery from. Next on my agenda is to check my post and see what is nexted. CI when done getting a game plan together.

CI 8:50 Next taks to accomplish is to set-up e-mail accounts class. Check in when it is done.

CI 3:10 e-mail accounts are set up and I have accomplished quite a bit today. I have to take some think time to find out the next best step to take. Think ...Think...Think. I have gotten exam grades so now time to figure out how to put them in the new system that we have. CI when I get done.

CI 4:30 Worked on grades a bit but jumped on to creating invits for bday party. Had to be done before 5:00. (The 11th hours work for me) CI when I get home. Hopefully last computer change of the day.

CI 6:30 Home - now on to my pm routine. I have not been following it as well as I should but I have managed to keep my home life from following down around my ears. PM Routine next.

CI 8:45 accomplished more than I have over the last couple of night but not as much as I hoped to. Anyway getting ready to go to bed so I can start again tomorrow. Goodnight to all and good luck with all of you task.
