Journey 5:30

Worked in the chatbox all day and did everything on my work to-do list.   Now if I can remember to stop by PetSmart on the way home and then do some dishes tonight I will have done everything on my list :)

I'll probably check in when I get home.  Have a nice evening everyone!

Journey 9 pm

Forgot to go to Petsmart, but I can go tomorrow.  I did everything else on my list so I'll say this was a successful day.   Now I can play my game for an hour before I go to bed.

NIght all!

e on January 2

Everyone in my family seems to have the sniffles and is still in bed at this late hour. I have a soup to finish making and some dishes to do: I helped my mother take the ornaments of the tree upstairs, and now would like to finish it up by bringing up the boxes to store them in. The lights still have to be wrestled off the tree, but I will let that wait until tomorrow. It would be nice to give the laundry some attention as well, and then remove things from the front porch.

To the chatbox, Robin!

Today I am lucky enough to have one of those big chunks of time I'm always craving for a big assignment. There are plenty of small tasks I could be doing, but none of them are completely necessary today, so I can use them as breaks rather than feeling like they are things that must get done. The big thing is this English paper, which I am determined to finish by midnight. (But it's important to me to have a feasible deadline, so if I need to adjust it later I will.)

See you in the chatbox! :)

Good afternoon!

I'm back in my office for a while today after running a number of errands this morning. Mostly I'm going to concentrate on a whole lot of administrative tasks. Not going to get bogged down in setting what order. They're all on my Outlook task pad, so I'll just do what I can as they come up.

But, among my MIT's today:

~ Cleanout my in-basket (the physical one)Update 11:20 PM: Mostly finished

~ File stuff from my filing basket

~ Bring my personal time records and income records up to date and archive the 2008 data and reset the files for the 2009 year.Update 11:20 PM: FINISHED

~ Cleanout my email inbasket, too.

My son is w/ friends but when he returns I want to spend time w/ him, too, so that will take precedence.

I'm going to work a lot in chatbox.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Update 9:45 PM

I got about 3/4 of the way through my physical in-box, so that was a very successful day in my opinion.

I decided to see what more I can do on some of these tasks in the next hour or so tonight.

I am taking the day off today, and spent the morning getting some little things done - thank you notes written, other basic stuff - and trying not to get on the computer.  Once I did and started in on my first thing I had been putting off, I opened the emai and found that I had made an incorrect assumption about what was in it and it was only an FYI - nothing needed doing :)

My plan for the rest of the day - like usual, even on vacation I have lots of work things I want to do.

[]Clean off the stairs to my sewing room ALMOST finished - worked on this on and off all day.

[x]Send email about paper review

[]Do end year report - well, this ain't gonna happen today.  Which means it needs to be done before Monday.

[x]Grocery store

[x]Find phone :) - I put off charging it and now it is dead and lost!

Hi Pro Buddies!

Continued Happy New Year greetings! :)

Even though I am at my office today, I am the only one here (so far), and focusing is a challenge. I thought I would try starting my CI, and updating it from time to time, to help keep me on track. I'll shuffle some papers, and then see if I have anything to report back in a while.

12:50pm. I got some stuff done this morning. Now I'm getting back from lunch & need to focus again. I'll give it a try!

3:35pm. The top of my counter is nearly cleared off, so that is a good sign. I can see parts of my desk, too ;) OK, let me see what I can do to finish up around here ;)

9:52pm. A late CI after my meeting. Tomorrow will have all kinds of various things going on. Can I do anything about it today? Maybe, maybe not. I needed to come over to the rental condo for several reasons; since I am getting on the computer anyway, that's why I'm updating my CI. Talk to you later!

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Journey 8:30

Good morning!   back in the office for the first time after vacation - I worked from home a couple days this week.   I really like my little office, but I like working from home in my sweatpants too.

Going to put a stack of stuff in the shredder, then plan the day.  Nothing on the calendar, so my day is fairly flexible.   but it's time to get back into the swing of things and get back to work on the tedious Project P since my contacts will all be back next week.

I'll work in the chatbox when I come back, assuming I can get it.   I can't always get in from the network here at work - I think because they limit our bandwidth.   Anyway, sometimes I can get in and sometimes I can't.

Rolzup CI and a day-after-new-year's resolution

I really need to stop playing word games on the internet. Word games have a certain respectability over more graphic online games, but when I play them I've noticed I get into the same ravenous disposition as with other games. Just as addictive.

I'm starting over an hour and a half late because of Scramble.

CI 11:50 Very slow going this morning, Battery in van was dead had to call my dad to give me a jump. Daughters hair had so many tangles I took me a 1/2 to get them all out. My day is not going well at this point.

Any way at least I stayed focused and I did have a great day. A local grocery chain offered triple coupons yesterday so my 56.24 grocery bill ended up being 21.78. I was pleased with myself, I had my coupons ready because I had spent 20 min a day organizing them.

chick CI, is back/co confession

It's good to be back and see y'all here.
I've been away, didn't accomplish the unrealistic holiday work goals I set (yes: they were unrealistic. And I think I did need a rest and time off.) --Being away did give me a chance to observe how foreign the 'just a little every day' mode is to me, and to realize how much more tranquility I would find in my life if I adopted it. So 'a little ever day' and 'every small step counts' are going to be in my New Year's resolution list.
But now, time to be productive again.
Going to work in chatbox now.
studying x. find out bureaucr. info.--did some of that and some other necessary routine chores, but not enough!

confession: I didn't stay on track today, didn't set clear goals or stay in chatbox.

I think that while I am away I get a kind of clarity about the motivations and habits that constitute my procrastination; then back in familiar surroundings and routine, I want to change completely all at once for the New Year, but I don't stay aware in the moment and slip right back into the old ways--habits reinforced by surroundings. And I know by now that it's a set-up for failure to set excessive goals, whether about projects or about not procrastinating.

For tomorrow, I am telling myself: change comes--not one day at a time, but one minute at a time. Take it moment by moment!

And I am wondering whether it would help to post some little cards with affirmations and reminders in various places in the house? Will they help or be nags? Will I have to race around taking them down before visitors?
